Funko Pop assorted character merchandise

Okay, everybody has been seeing these everywhere, from comic shops, to bookstores, to groceries, to everywhere in between. These Funko Pop pieces have incorporated almost every universe and franchise... from Freddy Krueger... to Nightmare Before Christmas... to Star Wars, Batman, Spider-Man, X-Men, Disney, and every other thing in between. I mean EVERYTHING is being made into this format. What they HAVE NOT made yet though is Dragon Ball Z characters. So I threw an email together and sent it to the main email to the Funko people. I'm hoping they get the rights to the DB universe and bust out some FUNKO POP BOBBLE HEADS DRAGON BALL STYLE!

Here's what I wrote in the email I sent:

"I have noticed that the Funko Pop series has spread to almost every franchise. After careful examination, I did not find my favorite series of all time being incorporated as of yet in the Pop bobble head tradition. This would have to be Dragon Ball Z. I do like the current repertoire of characters, yes. But I have a request that certain Dragon Ball Z characters be made into Funko pop format. Dragon Ball happens to be the most popular anime phenomena in the history of the planet; well, this isn't necessarily an exaggeration either considering it has the largest fanbase worldwide for yearly fighting games, anime, manga, collectibles, etc. and it is the largest Japanese franchise. Since I have found almost all the Star Wars, Disney, Power Rangers, Marvel, DC, etc. characters being incorporated into the Funko pop tradition, I was hoping and wishing to see some of my favorite Dragon Ball characters portrayed in the Funko format. I can wholeheartedly say that I myself would purchase a box full of them (I know this isn't much) but only if my favorites from this franchise were brought to life. My request is limited. If there were a Dragon Ball Pop Funko (as this is a great idea), I am most interested in seeing the most important supporting villains from the series run incorporated in this format. My favorite characters are Zarbon and Dodoria in the history of all animated series, and all animation in general. To me, no Funko collection is complete without these two specific characters. If there were a Funko line of 36 characters; a series 1, series 2, and series 3 lineup, each concentrating on the 3 primary arcs and sagas of Dragon Ball Z (the Frieza, Cell, and Buu sagas); these would be the best choices in terms of selection for pieces in each volume set:

Zarbon Funko Pop Vinyl Concept Art By PrinceZarbon

Dragon Ball Z Volume 1 can attribute the following 12 pieces:

  1. Goku
  2. Vegeta
  3. Frieza
  4. Zarbon
  5. Dodoria
  6. Captain Ginyu
  7. Jeice
  8. Burter
  9. Recoome
  10. Guldo
  11. Nappa
  12. Raditz

Dragon Ball Z Volume 2 can attribute the following 12 pieces:

  1. Super Saiyan Goku
  2. Super Saiyan Vegeta
  3. Perfect Cell
  4. Dr. Gero
  5. Android 19
  6. Android 17
  7. Android 18
  8. Android 16
  9. Piccolo
  10. Tien
  11. Super Saiyan Teen Gohan
  12. Future Trunks

Dragon Ball Z Volume 3 can attribute the following 12 pieces:

  1. Super Saiyan 3 Goku
  2. Majin Vegeta
  3. Kid Buu
  4. Majin Buu
  5. Super Buu
  6. Dabura
  7. Babidi
  8. Krillin
  9. Supreme Kai
  10. Videl
  11. Gotenks
  12. Vegito

And maybe a special bonus edition Volume 4 featuring some other primary characters that are not limited to each saga:

  1. Bulma
  2. Master Roshi
  3. Hercule (Mr. Satan)
  4. King Kai
  5. Chiaotzu
  6. Yamcha
  7. Launch
  8. Emperor Pilaf
  9. Broly
  10. Janemba
  11. Bardock
  12. Uub

Now I know that in order for this venture to take place, there's some form of licensing and distribution for these sales to take place; including the marketing, etc. However, I can guarantee that these characters would sell levels more than many of the previously released Funko Pop pieces because Dragon Ball is, and, apparently has been for the last 30 years, the strongest in terms of Japanese Animation and anime in general. Delving into this phenomenon would welcome Funko sales to skyrocket since the ever-popular Star Wars lineup. My recommendation is that this franchise is not passed up. The following characters I have mapped for your own easy access make up the primary focus of all the 3 major arcs of this enthralling saga. And I myself would love nothing more, I swear it, than to have my own Zarbon and Dodoria Funko Pop pieces brought to life. I have attached images of my two favorite characters for reference. Thanks in advance. I await a reply as I am anticipating to hear your thoughts."

What do you guys think; is there a chance they'll respond? - PrinceZarbon (talk) 00:18, September 2, 2013 (UTC)

FunkoPop2014Set

Funko Pop Set including Frieza, Cell, Vegeta, Piccolo, and Goku

  • Frieza
  • Piccolo
  • Cell
  • Vegeta
  • Goku
  • Super Saiyan Goku

They listened. But not in the way I wanted. They're releasing Series 1 in August 2014 but I hate the set minus Frieza in his final form. I was really looking for a wide array of characters as they did with Star Wars. I don't like the Series 1 lineup as of now. I'm hoping this isn't all the stuff they're releasing because this is a very limited lineup from what I had in mind. - PrinceZarbon (talk) 21:17, March 8, 2014 (UTC)

UPDATE

From what I've found online, Funko Pop Dragon Ball Z Series Wave 2 has been revealed for 2016 and includes the following:

  • Majin Buu
  • Krillin
  • Bulma
  • Trunks
  • Gohan
  • Goku with Nimbus

I'm disappointed with this set as well. More on this below. - PrinceZarbon (talk) 03:15, January 14, 2016 (UTC)
