I apologize if this has been discussed on here before, but I'm kind of a n00b and couldn't find a blog about it so...here goes:

What do you guys think the formula is for the power level of a Fusion Dance-created fusion? I realize Toriyama wasn't precise about a lot of that stuff, but I still can't resist trying to figure out how the numbers behind Dragon Ball work (I've given up on most of the science, it's too unrealistic). So here's my take:

It's most likely something involving addition of the power levels, since anything else necessitates having some (non-dimensionless) constants to be dimensionally consistent. This is definitely possible, but a linear formula is certainly simpler and less complicated. As for any modifier on the sum, there aren't any power levels after the Trunks Saga, but Toei's website (http://www.toei-anim.co.jp/tv/dragongt/chara/index06.html) says that Gogeta's PL (as SSJ4) is "several times larger than ten people from the power of a Super Saiyan 4." It's not straight from the manga/anime, but I feel like Toei is a pretty decent source. 'Several times larger than ten' seems like 20x or 30x to me. Also, the two fusees have to have equal PLs when they fuse, so if two people have power levels A and B when they fuse, the fusion will have PL=20min(A,B) or 30min(A,B).

So yeah, that's my theory. (Sorry if this is excessive, it's a bad habit of mine)
