Transfiguration Beam, also known as Change Beam (変化ビーム Henka Bīmu)[1], is an Energy Wave used by all forms of Majin Buu, except Evil Buu.

Overview[]

As its name states, this attack can change any object or person into any type of object regardless of their strength. However, upon transformation, strong opponents can retain enough power to attack. The user usually announces what the attack will turn the victim into before using it. Majin Buu sends the wave of energy by pointing his antenna at his target, while Majuub shoots the beam from his index and middle finger.

Usage[]

MajinBuuChiChiEgg

Super Buu turns Chi-Chi into an egg

Innocent Buu first used the beam to turn Dabura into a cookie,[5] some of the Earthlings into candy,[6][7] chocholate,[8] clay to build his house,[9] heal Tommy's eyes,[10] and a carton of milk.[10]

The Transfiguration Beam can also act as a way for Majin Buu to absorb another, as with Evil Buu reflecting Good Buu's attack,[11] or possibly because the spell was used on another with same power so the victim retains their power without being able to use it as something of a container.

Buudns

Super Buu turns Vegito into a coffee-flavored jawbreaker

Super Buu uses this attack to turn Chi-Chi into an egg before crushing her to death,[12] and later, to turn everyone (excluding Dende) on the Lookout into chocolate so he could eat them alive.[13] Super Buu has displayed the ability to fire multiple beams at once. His version also appears to destroy inanimate objects rather than transform them. With Gohan absorbed, Super Buu uses the Candy Beam to turn Vegito into a coffee-flavored jawbreaker. However, upon transformation, Super Vegito retains enough power to attack, so Buu turns Candy Vegito back into his regular form.[14] He uses the technique again to transform a boulder into an outhouse when Vegeta and Goku, who are inside him, give him a serious and comical case of indigestion.[15]

In the manga, Kid Buu attempts to use the attack on Super Saiyan 3 Goku, though Goku manages to avoid the beam by jumping out of the way.[16]

When Good Buu tries to use it against Kid Buu, Kid Buu jumps out of the way and blasts a hole through Good Buu.[17] In the anime, this fight is considerably longer and Good Buu attempts to use it two more times; the beam misses its target each time,[17] with the third one ending up hitting a rock and turning it into jawbreakers.[18]

UubChocolateBeam

Majuub's Majin Beam

In Dragon Ball GT, Good Buu uses the Transfiguration Beam on Pan and Mr. Satan so he can eat them, and thus keep them safe (inside his body) from Baby Vegeta and his Tuffle Parasites.[19] When Baby Vegeta redirects Majuub's Chocolate Kamehameha back at him, Majuub is turned into chocolate and eaten, however, this does not give Baby any extra strength. Majuub earlier utilized the Transfiguration Beam to turn everyone on Earth into chocolate in order to ensure they don't interfere with his assault on Baby Vegeta, promising to return to restore them to their original forms afterward.[20]

DollBeam

God of Destruction Luud (Level 1) using his Doll Beam in Dragon Ball GT

The Machine Mutant Luud uses Doll Beam to turn people into dolls which he can then absorb into himself. The Para Brothers, Dolltaki, and Pan all fall victim to this technique and are absorbed, though within Luud, Pan is able to force Dolltaki to reveal Luud's weakness which the Para Brothers are able to rely to Goku telepathically with their microphones allowing Goku and Pan to coordinate an attack on Luud's weak point which must be hit from both the outside and inside at the same time. Thus, Luud's Doll Beam and absorption ultimately lead to its defeat.
