I meant overall weaknesses. Character flaws are weaknesses that can be exploited. His forms also have weaknesses that can be exploited.
^ SSJ3 & SSB are heavy stamina drainers, and he couldn't keep up SSJ4 cause his body couldn't handle it.
Well okay then, but the writing still needs to be clever to exploit character flaws when Goku is that strong.
Clever writing in Dragonball? Ha!
Imagine if instead of using the original set up of Pilaf and co using the Black Star dragon balls (which quite frankly I believe should be retconned out) and accidently de-aging Goku, but a new set up involves the Time Breakers (or at least an unwitting pawn manipulated by the Time Breakers) using the Super Dragon Balls to wish for the power levels of everyone on Earth to be redistributed (and equalized) among all the inhabitants of Earth.Â
I know it's a really crazy idea, but imagine not just Goku and the rest of Z-Warriors suddenly being taken down a peg in power, but muggles (to use HP lingo which also is used on TV Tropes... of which I'm part of for full disclosure) suddenly gaining super powers, including common criminals, and all the chaos it would ravage on Earth. It would avoid the problem of escalation (of which I certainly agree is a problem in Dragon Ball and some other Shonen anime/manga) that Stryzzar brings up and also recreate the Black Star saga all at the same time.
So Cool and clever idea? Dumb idea? or Crazy as all WTF idea? I'd like to hear what all of you got to say.
Keep in mind the above post is from four days earlier. I found no prohibition on any sort of "Double posting" in the forum guidelines, but if there is and I missed it, I apologize in advance and will refrain from doing it again.
Other changes I'd like to see implemented for Baby Saga: In addition to Baby taking possession of the Earth's population, I'd also have him transporting the entire M-2 planet to Earth both to bring in additional back up minions still on M-2 and also, in the event of defeat, something that could absorb and destroy Earth (in a manner similar to the Big Gete Star from DBZ Movie 6). In addition I'd have as a last ditch effort by Baby to win after escaping from Vegeta's body an attempt by him to take over Beerus himself.
Not just only that, but I'd also elaborate Baby's goals to not just conquering Universe 7, but seeking to exterminate the Saiyans of Universe 6 and going so far as trying to wage a war on the Kais themselves in an effort to forcefully take access to divine knowledge (and thus justfy the need to have Shin and Elder Kai involved in contrast to original GT in which they simply helped out Goku and co. because of their personal friendship.)
Changes to Super 17 saga: Rather than Hell Fighter 17 (and an HF18) being creations of Dr. Gero and Dr. Myuu, but rather those two scientists being under the control of the Time Breakers (in order to avoid revealing themselves. Other changes would be subject to whatever developments are revealed in Dragon Ball Super: Broly.
Changes to Shadow Dragon/Evil Shenrons saga: While the Z-warriors were preoccupied against Baby and Doctors Gero and Myuu, I'd have the Time Breakers corrupting the dragon balls and otherwise leaving most of this story arc unchanged aside from the Time Breakers being present.
So What do you think of my ideas? Like them? Hate them?
GT is an elseworld, they might someday add ideas from that show to the main continuity, but a full reboot will never happen. There's no point.
^ Yeah, I hear you and understand that the likelihood of DBGT being rebooted is unlikely, but its also worth noting that Mr. Toriyama for close to two decades had said he would never do any sort of continuations and/or additions to the storyline of his Dragon Ball series, but low and behold today, he has crafted the story of two movies (plus the third DBS: Broly on its way) and also created a new manga and anime as well. Depending on how well DBS: Broly is received (commercially and critically), could Toriyama decide to try his luck crafting a reboot of DBGT?
Though to be clear, I'm not in any way demanding he reboot DBGT being that, speaking from the heart as someone who has also has a passion for storytelling (of which I even have at least one short story of my own published), obviously an artist's thoughts for his work should come first before commercial interest.
