The Notorious Mercenary (きた!世界一の殺し屋 “桃白白”, Kita! Sekaiichi no Koroshiya "Taopaipai"; lit. "He is Here! The World's Greatest Assassin, Tao Pai Pai") is the second episode of the Commander Red Saga and the fifty-ninth episode in the Dragon Ball series. The episode first aired on April 22, 1987.
Summary
Mercenary Tao eliminates General Blue by using his tongue
While Commander Red talks with the infamous Mercenary Tao, General Blue returns to Red Ribbon Army Headquarters. Commander Red is furious over General Blue's recent failures, but will allow him to live if General Blue can defeat Mercenary Tao in battle. Meanwhile on the Sacred Land of Korin, Goku learns about the Korin Tower from Bora and the strength enhancing water at the top.
General Blue battles Mercenary Tao, but even his finishing move is useless and Mercenary Tao wins effortlessly with a Pressure Point Attack, killing him. After learning about Goku and the Dragon Balls, Mercenary Tao sets out to Korin. Goku expresses eagerness to climb the tower just before Mercenary Tao arrives. Bora fights him, but Mercenary Tao kills him mercilessly using his own spear. Angered, Goku leaps into a fierce battle against the deadliest assassin in the world.
Trivia
- One of the sound effects heard when Blue recoils in shock that Tao isn't affected by his Look into my eyes! technique is the same one for when the Super Saiyan form is engaged in Dragon Ball Z.
- When Tao says that he's come for "the boy", Goku immediately answers, despite not knowing if Tao was referring to him or Upa.
