The Teleportation Zone (瞬間移動空間 Shunkan Idō Kūkan) is a location accessed whenever someone utilizes Instant Transmission.[1] It is primarily featured in the film series of Dragon Ball Z.

Overview[]

The Teleportation Zone varies in appearance each time it is shown, but they all feature a unique environment compared to reality. In some instances, it is a dark dimension comprised of red, green and blue space. In one other instance, it is a greenish-white dimension containing numerous blue crystalline square screens that users of Instant Transmission pass in and out of.

The first known appearance of the Teleportation Zone is in Dragon Ball Z: The Return of Cooler. Goku reveals he dodged Meta-Cooler's Metallic Supernova by using Instant Transmission, but Meta-Cooler surprises him by remarking that it's one of his favorite moves as well, proving his point by teleporting and catching Goku with a hard punch to face. The fight then proceeds further into the Teleportation Zone, with Goku being dumbfounded by Meta-Cooler's superior experience with Instant Transmission.

The second appearance of the Teleportation Zone is in Dragon Ball Z: Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan, where Goku enters it via Instant Transmission to reach the South Area. The same animation is used at the end of Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn, where Goku is seen presumably traveling through it right before the credits.

Video Game Appearances[]

In the Budokai Tenkaichi intro, Goku and Kid Buu both enter the Teleportation Zone (Goku using Instant Transmission and Buu presumably using Kai Kai) to continue their battle, where Goku gains the upper hand and uses a ki blast to send Kid Buu careening through one of the teleportation screens, sending him back into reality and knocking Gohan and Piccolo (who had been fighting Cell) aside.
