The Tamil dub is one of the Indian language dubs, along with Hindi and Telugu which aired on Cartoon Network. The Tamil dub was done by Seventh Channel Studios, based in Chennai, India. The episodes are the sole property of Cartoon Network India as they have not been released on any platforms, like DVDs and online, other than television.

Dragon Ball[]

Dragon Ball did not receive a dub in Tamil at the time of the original Hindi dub, but the Funimation dub of Dragon Ball was aired in Cartoon Network in India from 2009 to 2010. Due to poor ratings the show was cancelled after airing the first two seasons.

In 2024, when Dragon Ball was rebroadcast on Cartoon Network India a Tamil dub premiered on August 25, 2024.

Dragon Ball Z[]

Dragon Ball Z was the first Dragon Ball series to be aired on Indian television. It debuted on India's version of Cartoon Network during 2001. Since then, it has been broadcasted in English language. In April 2007, the localized dubbed versions of Dragon Ball Z aired in Tamil and Hindi languages on Cartoon Network. In August of that year, the Telugu language dub was also aired. Dragon Ball Z was aired in the Toonami block of Cartoon Network India.

The Tamil dub of Dragon Ball Z is a redub of all original Funimation episodes and movies consisting of the same scripts and names. Dragon Ball Z episodes and its movies 1 to 7 were dubbed in Tamil. Being based on all the source material from Funimation, episodes 1 to 53 were notable for using Shuki Levy's music from the Ocean Group dubs, making it the first non-North American dub to not use Shunsuke Kikuchi's original soundtrack. From episode 54, the dub began using Kikuchi's music (with added background music used to fill silent moments), as Levy's score was originally stopped being used after episode 53 in the English dub. Despite being based on Funimation dub, the Tamil dub never uses Bruce Faulconer's score.

As well as using its music, the dub also used the edited footage and scripts from the Ocean/Saban dub. The Tamil dub used the original Ocean dub script translated in Tamil, until episode 53. The scripts from episode 54 onwards were slightly revised versions of Funimation's scripts for those episodes with Funimation's footage. The footage was slightly edited to avoid nudity and to hide scenes unsuitable to children.

Dragon Ball Z TV Specials[]

The Dragon Ball Z TV specials received Tamil dubs and aired exclusively on Cartoon Network India in 2024.

Dragon Ball Daima[]

Dragon Ball Daima was dubbed in Tamil and the dub's simulcast began from November 9, 2024 on Crunchyroll.

This dub very likely uses the original Japanese version as a basis instead of the English dub, as attack names are in Japanese instead of English, and Japanese honorifics are translated properly to Hindi.
