Are they going to start showing any new episodes soon? i've been watching the episode when goku is making the spirit bomb for it feels like a year. this is getting rediculous.

one thing that really angered me for some reason
because i remembered this part very well for some reason..
when vegeta comes back from the dead and he says kakerot you dog you've done it you're a super saiyan i can see it ... they changed that .. o and right before he dissapears instead of can a ghost do this vegeta says sorry it didn't take... i feel like vegeta is less power hungry and more of a wimp and is it just me or goku seeming more power hungry i mean i know he wanted to surpass each level before but whoever did the research on dbz got it dead wrong because goku was the calm but serious type , never power hungry... they need to fix this if they plan on cell or buu saga..

Weird inconsistency.[]
I haven't seen many of the new episodes yet but from what I've seen it's all pretty good except for one thing; for some reason a few scenes that were supposed to have blood did not. They don't seem to be taking out /all/ of the blood, just the blood from a few scenes, like when Piccolo killed Raditz, Goku and Raditz are supposed to have blood gushing out of their stomachs but they don't. Yet in the next scene Raditz is coughing up blood rather profusely. Why is it OK for Raditz to have a mouthful of blood but a hole the size of a softball doesn't bleed at all?
Censorship is higher now,then when DBZ was released.

And the censorship isn't just limited to violence - a number of situations involving nudity are more edited than ever before as well. Naked child Goku/Gohan are shown without genitals and the scene of Bulma standing up in the bath is edited as well. Yes, censorship in Japan is much higher than it was back in the day. There was never blood spewing out like crazy in the manga anyways when Raditz got killed by the Special Beam Cannon. And DBZ Kai is supposed to follow the manga more closely, so they didn't really censor it. They corrected it

- they don't have a new opening BUT at each new saga they show scenes of the final battle in the up rez you'll notice at the start of the ginyu saga they changed the scene of vegeta vrs goku to SSJ Goku vrs Frieza final form

Major cut-down of canon material[]
Never mind the filler stuff, Kai has cut down tremendously on non-filler material. I noticed this by watching my favorite era, for example. Three episodes, Namek's Defense, The Hunted, and The Prince Fights Back have all been conjoined into one episode. This is horrible as it cuts down on actual canon material. It also cuts down Dodoria's appearance ratio, of which he was initially in 6 episodes but now is in 4 for this Kai version. For some reason, the animation seems extremely fast-paced as opposed to how it was supposed to be. They skip major conflicted emotional reactions from the characters themselves and the fights fly right by. Dodoria's onslaught is supposed to last an entire episode. His chase of Gohan and Krillin is on the next episode. And his demise at the hands of Vegeta is on the next. It's not supposed to take place in the timeframe of one episode. Now I know that the Frieza fight, for example, will be cut from it's 80 episode radius to maybe around 10. - PrinceZarbon (talk) 14:32, September 9, 2009 (UTC)

I just saw my most favorite episode in the revised version of DB Kai, Zarbon's transformation. It is flat out horrible in comparison to the original Japanese version. The fight's duration has been cut in half. And the actual fighting has been sped up notoriously to fit it all into half of one episode. That seriously annoyed me. Zarbon's first encounter with Vegeta takes 2 episodes, not half of one episode. Another problematic aspect was the music. It clearly failed in comparison to the original. "Kyoufu no Ginyu Tokusentai" is the best theme. To remove that is to make a great error. In it's place, nothing has been added but sounds of the characters, horrible decision. This was a terrible blunder, personally I hate Dragonball Kai's revised edition. I find original Japanese to rule above all else. Now that my favorite saga has aired, I realized how horrible the cutdown has been in terms of character appearance for my most favorite character, Zarbon, in this reversion. He initially appears in 14 consecutive episodes in the original Japanese version. He's now in 8 episodes in this version. I really strongly dislike this Kai reversion. It's likely that the entire Ginyu Force will be taken down in about 5 episodes flat rather than the 12 episodes they initially maintained. - PrinceZarbon (talk) 13:52, September 30, 2009 (UTC)

- The Goku versus Frieza fight had LOTS and I mean LOTS of filler. But the fights between Zarbon and Dodoria did not have any filler and they didn't need to be filtered or sped up, they were only 2 episodes to begin with, there was no reason to speed them up. Well,to be honest,both Zarbon and Dodoria are minor Characters,while Goku and Frieza are main characters(and I don't think any one cares about either character or at the very least,I don't.) Besides,as they said before,they wanted to speed up the episodes,so if they shorten a few fights I don't think anyone is going to care so long as it isn't a major fight(i.e. Goku vs Frieza) Sting! - No, I don't mean the reused footage, that's mere seconds. I mean full segments of the fight. Like when Zarbon grabs Vegeta and headbutts him, the next scene is supposed to show him tossing Vegeta in midair and colliding with him again before he backflips. And he's supposed to taunt him with "Now do you see you can't win". This segment should not have been removed. It's my favorite fight, I'd know the manga reference is exactly the same as the anime, there's no reason for them to cut out official fight material. - I care because they are going to obviously cut down the entire Ginyu Force arc from 13 episodes to a mere 5. Guldo is probably getting taken down in 1 episode instead of the 3 onscreen appearances he has. Recoome's fight is no longer going to be 3 episodes in duration, but 1... and Captain Ginyu's conflict will be cut down to maybe 2. This is horrible for someone who's sole purpose of liking DBZ is the supporting characters. - Is that why their names are in the episode titles for more than anyone else in each corresponding saga? I don't like heroes, I only like villains. So for me, it makes a lot of difference. Sure cutting the long fights are ok since after a while that fight between frezia and goku got kinda long especially with the whole planet is going to blow up in five munutes. The short ones like Zarbon beating Vegeta because Zarbon transformation made everyone who watched the fight relize that Frezia is much stronger then we thought he was. Revelation[]
The main page says the Z was completely removed from the title. I thought so at first, but now I don't think it was! If you look at the kanji for 改(kai), It's two separate kanji put together, and the one on the left side resembles a Z. I would bet anything that they took the "Z" out because they thought they were being cute/smart with the 改 kanji. User:Virtues777

According to Sankaku Complex, the recut series is receiving some less than welcome revisions in the form of the removal of shattered bodies spurting blood, something sure to disappoint gore-hungry fans.

Name fiasco[]
So, I am at a loss for what to do here guys. I have thought about just creating a separate article for Funimation's Dragon Ball Z: Kai and renaming this one back to just Dragon Ball Kai. I believe this would help avoid confusion and this way, the separate information regarding the English and Japanese versions would be easily inquired. What do we think?

- I personally like to consider what will happen in a year, or two, or whenever Kai comes out in America. It is completely possible that a whole new generation of kids will watch in America and other English-speaking countries, and they may only know the series as Dragon Ball Kai Z. The series will most likely have the same content (more or less) in English as in Japanese, so having two near-identical articles seems redundant. Since this site is for the English-speaking fans, I think we should preemptively leave the article as Dragon Ball Z Kai and just make a note somewhere that the "Z" was added in America by FUNimation. --

English VA's[]
So, if its getting released in English, any word on the English dub? Is it going to be in Japanese with subtitles or are they going to reunite all of our favorites for the new series.
We all know that VA's have to eat too, and a "new" Dragonball series being offered to the original English VA's would be like offering Ice cream to a child with ADHD. You have a good idea what going to happen, and you most certainly want to stick around for the show.

Cartoon Network Not First Home[]
The note about Cartoon Network being the first and only home for Dragonball in the U.S. is misleading. Well before I ever saw Z I saw episodes of the original Dragonball on a local station. Yeah, all three series were aired. Dragon Ball still airs on Cartoon Network cos they never stopped showing it. It started airing about two or three years after FUNimation started dubbing it and ended for several months while the channels got hold of the Majin Buu sagas and GT aired a year after it started in the US. Dragon Ball started airing after GT finished and that was in 2005. If that's anything to go by, then it looks like I'm in for a wait. :( SSWerty 06:08, June 8, 2010 (UTC)

The DVDs contain the same amount of blood and violence as the Japanese version. There are some differences though, like some techniques keeping their original names (Piccolo's Makankosappo, and Krillin's Kienzan.) Regions[]
Just a thought. So many people that buy kai from abrode in a diffrent region from America wonder, will kai work on my DVD or blue ray player? This beeing a dragonball wiki will be their first place to come to look for such information if the site selling the item lacks the deataial or you are sceptical of what they have stated.
My proposal is to add what the region encodings are in the table of the kai dvd and blue ray deatailing their realse and content act under the deatails section.

id have to disagree with the first post. goten was critical to the plot as he was gohans younger brother. i would have to say that dbz fans felt that they needed someone else younger in the z fighters (aside from young trunks of course) because otherwise fans would seem indifferent to trunks and quite frankly the plot he ties into. in my opinion, those two were the glue that held the series togerther with thier funny antics and games. one cannot forget also as he played a critical role in the movie Broly: second coming when goten, trunks and videl fought of broly until gohan arrived at the scene.all i can say that as a dbz fan, when they start the new GT series on toon nick this upcoming january, i hope to see goten older, but still going strong.70.242.139.120 19:19, December 26, 2011 (UTC) the censoring of the blood also in my opinion is a waste of time. its a fighting show for gods sake!
About vegeta and nappa's armor color.[]
I always figured that the weird lighting on the planet made their armor appear differently colored, as Vegeta's hair also looked differently colored then it was on Earth.

- I was glad this happened... in a sense... because I absolutely hate most of the new scores and am glad that they are keeping the original score. I strongly feel Shunsuke Kikuchi is the best composer out of all the bunch; I felt that the techno and rock music didn't suit Dragon Ball at all... and found the newer scores to be rather bland... Most likeley not as Dragon Ball Z Kai's main difference to Dragon Ball Z besiides the HD is they cut out most of the filler non manga scenes but the Dragon Ball Z films were all filler so there would be nothing to change but the quality and voice cast.

NICKTOONS MESSED UP[]
i think that nicktoonsnetwork messed up when they started airing the dbz movies, like in movies fusion reborn and wrath of the dragon because goku goes ss3 in them and yet they havent aired goku even becoming a ss3 in dbzkai, and also in fusion reborn goku mentions majin buu which again hasnt been mentioned on dbzkai. also they messed up by airing broly the legendary super saiyan because gohan is a ss in it and yet it hasnt shown in dbzkai that he ever becomes one. also it shows him grown up in the return of broly and even shows goten, yet they havent aired gohan even becoming a ss yet. nicktoons airing the movies are good in all, but it isnt lettin any suprise occur for the viewers who have no idea what will happen.
DBZ Kai Music: What Will Happen?[]
I was angry when it turned out Kai's composer plagerized other music. As a result, the Kai music has been replaced with the old score. I really dislike the old score. This is only my opinion, but I think the old score is boring, lacks suspense, has no depth, sounds just plain silly from time to time, and doesn't suit the show in this day and age, espesially for the 'updated' DBZ Kai. What will happen?! If they keep the old score, will they at least keep the new character themes from Kai, like The Lone Warrior, Only A Chilling Elegy, ect.? As far as I know, they weren't written by the same guy, so they might keep them, right? I LOVE those themes, and I could easily forgive them using the old score if they keep the new character themes. But will they keep them? I need to know now so that I don't get false hope before I buy the next volume. Also, how will this effect Funimation's decisions in the future? Will Funimation hire a new composer like when they hired Bruce Falcouner to replace the old score for America? If so, would they rehire Bruce or would they hire someone else? - How can you say that? The entire audio of the original Dragon Ball Z sounds like its frozen in time in the '70s, despite the fact that Dragon Ball Z was made in the '90s. Shunsuke Kikuchi wrote the music for the original Kamen Rider back in 1972 and his style has been frozen in time since then. The heavy hard rock music is much easier to associate with ripped, muscular characters clashing their massive powers together. Dragon Ball Kai Music Replacement[]
I cannot believe they changed the music for Dragon Ball Z Kai. I understand some people like the original japanese dragon ball z music score for it, but thats for DRAGON BALL Z. Basically, they ruined Dragon Ball Z Kai. The Kenji Yamamoto score of the music made Dragon Ball Z Kai what Dragon Ball Z Kai what it is. I wish FUNimation would put the Yamamoto music back up. Its Dragon Ball Z Kai for crying out loud and it started with Yamamotos music, and I honestly think they should end Dragon Ball Z Kai with it. AT LEAST end it with Yamamoto music, then they may replace and whatever they want. Dragon Ball Z should air again in the Japanese Score. Why?-> Because I have some of the Dragon Ball Z DVDS and when I watch them, I think to myself: Now this is where the music should remain. Dragon Ball Z Kai WAS SOOOO AMAZING with the Yamamoto music, but it went downhill. I do not care if Dragon Ball Z Kai ends on the Cell Saga, because if they want to air Dragon Ball Z again, there you go. They should just change Dragon Ball Z Kai back to just plain Z in this case. But the truth I think and I am sure alot of others agree like my brother and all, Dragon Ball Z Kai has been ruined. Dragon Ball Z should come back. I mean, remember: Braveheart Challenges The Strong? And the other great ones: A Might Foe; A Wasteland Of Tension; Destiny; Requim To Those Who Fall/Fail < - Speaking of that, GET THIS: When a sad moment is on like when Frieza defeats** Vegeta, and he's telling Goku not to give up and starts crying, with the new music, I laughed really really hard, the new music sounds terrible compared to the Yamamoto soundtracks for those moments. I either think Yamamoto's music should come back once again, OR FUNimation should talk to the people Yamamoto copied or whatever, and make some sort of deal, and maybe even combine the music of Dragon Ball Z Japanese Soundtracks along with Yamamotos Score Of Dragon Ball Z Kai. Whoever reads this entire thing, may I please have a list or something of who Yamamoto copied so I may see/hear the similarities. Hey, im from the uk and watched DBZ as a kid and would love to own DragonBallZ Kai on DVD/Blu-Ray but everywhere i looked only have the NTSC copies, does anyone know if they made PAL copies or silly question do the NTSC ones work on an english playstation? (think i already know the answer to that one)

Dragon Ball Z Kai is not bad[]
I have wstched pretty much every episode od DBZK, and IT IS NOT BAD! I actually think its almost better than DBZ
here are the good things:
1.It is closer to the manga so no filler like Dragon Ball Z (Ex: no Garlic Jr. Saga)
2.Dragon Ball Z Kai has very good picture and is in HD
3. It has the original DBZ soundtrack with some good added music
4.AND also for all of you who complain that there is no blood or that since Vegeta and other characters dont curse they dont feel right, U HAVE ONLY WATCHED THE NICKTOONS OR TOONZAI VERSION. I have DBZK part 3 and 4 together in Uncut version and it has blood and characters curse and everything like in DBZ
so you can now see that Dragon Ball Z Kai is not bad and if you actually watch it more (its better in Uncut version. but NEVER WATCH THE TOONZAI VERSION!) you will see (like me) THAT IT IS BETTER THAN GTEmperorPeelaugh575TalkContrib

Japanese section with new voices (Just like FUnimation section)[]
There might as well be a list of the characters with new voices replacing the old voice actors in the Japanese dub too. I know there are not as many replacements as FUNimation, but it may seem kinda biased without them in, and there is some interesting trivia behind it, such as Android 16's original voice actor taking over the role as Tien. - Cartoon network will pick up where Nicktoons left of staring back from Part Nine Of Dragon Ball Z Kai (World Tounement and Great Sayiman Saga+Babidi And Majin Buu Saga) to the end of Part 10 (Fusion and kid buu sagation on DVD Releases except that ther will be only Two more DVD's (Part Nine&Part Ten) The first Part Nines First Episode is to be aired some time in August 2013 an opening Video is aprently being produced right now as a teaser trailer. DBZ Kai Cell saga confirmed to be airing in the UK.[]
I would have added this to the DBZ Kai article itself, but it is protected, so I cannot do so. Earlier today, Kix (the channel broadcasting Kai in the UK) confirmed that seasons 3 and 4 (i.e. the Future Trunks - Cell sagas) will be airing in the UK from the 22nd of July.
