Why didn't Goku just teleport back to earth after using instant transmission to bring cell to King Kai's planet?

guess there are a few reasons:
1. it wouldn't be really nice to leave king kai behind...
2. this was how it was meant to be by akira

who agrees that this is one of the saddest episodes? goku explodes and trunks gets lazrord threw the chest (which gave me nightmares) :(
I guess this is the second-saddest episode of all DB and DBZ episodes. It is only "topped" by the first death of Krillin in Dragon Ball.
