"Saiyan beyond God" is not this article's official English name, it is used as there is currently no official translation or suitable name.

Saiyan beyond God (神を超えたサイヤ人 Kami o koeta Saiya-jin, lit. "Saiyan who has surpassed a God"), also called God-like Saiyan,[5] is an empowered state undertaken by a Saiyan who gains the ability to utilize the power of Super Saiyan God without having to change into the form.[5][6]

Overview[]

Concept and creation[]

This state first appears in Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’, a pamphlet for the movie explained its nature.

Appearance[]

The Saiyan beyond God state displays no real differences from the user's base form. As such, the user may only appear with the standard white aura their base form normally displays.

Usage and power[]

SBG1

Goku and Vegeta as Saiyans beyond God

The Saiyan beyond God state appears to be a result of the Super Saiyan God's Crimson Radiance being retained in base form and further trained to be harnessed by the user naturally. Thus, Goku first unintentionally became a Saiyan beyond God in Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, and then deliberately trained to master the new state in Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’, which in turn caused the God's Crimson Radiance to evolve his Super Saiyan form into Super Saiyan Blue. Thus, Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan appears to be the Super Saiyan counterpart to Saiyan beyond God, as a Saiyan beyond God attempting to transform into a Super Saiyan will enter this state instead.[5]

In the anime, while training inside Whis’s Staff, it is noted by Vegeta that to retain this state, the Saiyan must raise their energy while also controlling it so it does not leak out - it is noted by Goku that initially it is very demanding to keep all the energy inside, with Vegeta realizing that this is the secret to divine energy, calling it intense, and thus, like the Super Saiyan Blue form, this state requires absolute ki control to maintain it. In the Dragon Ball Super anime, the Saiyan beyond God state does not possess godly ki, but it raises the user's energy to the same power level of Super Saiyan God and allows the user to sense godly ki.

The power of the Saiyan beyond God state was such that Goku was able to fight against the trained Frieza's true form. In the movie, Goku clearly outmatched the tyrant while in the manga and anime versions, Frieza's power was on par with Goku in this state.

Goku surpasses the power of Super Saiyan God he had used prior

In the anime version of the God of Destruction Beerus Saga, Goku retains the power of Super Saiyan God in his Super Saiyan form. Once Goku's Super Saiyan form fades and he reverts to his base form, he manages to surpass the Super Saiyan God power as he destroys the Beerus Ball.

Saiyan Beyond God Goku (Resurrection ‘F’ manga)

Goku uses god-like power without transforming

During Goku and Vegeta's training in the Golden Frieza Saga the two briefly release godly ki like that of Super Saiyan Blue while sparring in their base form. The two go on to train Inside Whis's Staff, where they realize that to move among the godly ki they must stop their ki from leaking out.

In the Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ manga, Goku and Vegeta use this state in their sparring match against Whis, with the image of Super Saiyan God appearing behind Goku when he almost lands a blow on Whis. In the manga, as well as the anime's Golden Frieza Saga, Goku and Vegeta use this state during their battle with Frieza on Earth.

Subsequent usage[]

Following the events of Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ and it's adaptations there is no confirmed usage of the Saiyan beyond God state, with the Super Saiyan God transformation seemingly replacing it once it returns in each of the different Dragon Ball Super media. However there are a few occasions where Saiyan beyond God seems to appear:

In the manga version of the Universe 6 Saga, Goku and Vegeta are seemingly in this state in there sparring match, as Goku in his base form is not too inconvenienced by Vegeta's Super Saiyan Blue attack, and Vegeta in his base form is depicted with the red aura of a Super Saiyan God in the colored version.

When Goku and Duplicate Vegeta battle during the Copy-Vegeta Saga, they use the same terminology ("a Saiyan with the power of Super Saiyan God, turned Super Saiyan") to describe the Super Saiyan Blue form as was done in Resurrection ‘F’, inferring that they may have been using Saiyan beyond God up until that point.

Dark Saiyan God

Goku Black's god ki aura

In his base form in the anime, Goku Black possesses a dual dark purple and black aura which resembles the godly ki aura.

Due to the nature of the Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan form according to the Resurrection ‘F’ pamphlet; Vegito, Gogeta as well as Zamasu's different Saiyan and part-Saiyan incarnations would all also possess this state.

Film Appearances[]

In Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, Goku retains some of the power of Super Saiyan God in his base form, allowing him to continue to fight against Beerus in it before subsequently turning into a Super Saiyan, and then into Super Saiyan God once more.

The Saiyan beyond God makes its full debut in Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’, where it is used by Goku and Vegeta throughout the film, most notably first in their sparring match with Whis, and then during Goku's fight with Frieza.

Saiyan beyond God Goku card for Dragon Ball Heroes

This state was named Saiyan beyond God by an ability used by a Goku card introduced in God Mission 1 of Dragon Ball Heroes that allowed him to transform into the state. The form was later replaced by SSGSS after the release of Resurrection ‘F’ and is no longer in the game.

When Super Saiyan Blue Goku is selected in Extreme Butōden, he will briefly appear using it at the beginning of the fight and will return to it at the end of the fight.

In Zenkai Battle, the state functions as Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Vegeta's base form in-game.

In Xenoverse 2, the state appears as a form for Goku and Vegeta in their Whis Symbol outfits. It also appears as Goku Black's DLC base form. Vegito briefly appears in this state before transforming into a Super Saiyan Blue in a Super Pack 4 DLC Parallel Quest. Though it does not appear as an actual form or power-up, the Saiyan Future Warrior can also be considered a Saiyan beyond God in their base form after they acquire the Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Awoken Skill from Whis.

In Dragon Ball Fusions, it appears as a form for Goku (Super) and Vegeta (Super). In one of the Ziku-kan Quests, after training with Tekka's Team and Vegito Blue, DBS Future Trunks claims to have achieved the Super Saiyan Blue form while training though it is never shown onscreen, meaning he too would have gained this state.

In World Mission, Beat achieves his natural Saiyan beyond God form as an Earthling-Saiyan hybrid as a result of achieving his Super Saiyan Blue form.

Trivia[]

  • In Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, the Saiyan Future Warrior was referred as a God-like Saiyan; during the "Parallel Quest 67: Power of a Super Saiyan God", the Future Warrior was told by Beerus to hurry up and unlock their Super Saiyan God power (which is the Super God Fist skill that can be obtained right after Goku drops from his Super Saiyan God form to Super Saiyan 2). After this Parallel Quest, Goku carries the Super God Fist more often throughout the other Parallel Quests in his Saiyan beyond God state and in his Super Saiyan Blue form. Though it is descriptively clear, the Saiyan Future Warrior can use the Super Saiyan God power (skills from Goku and Vegeta) without changing into the god form itself.
    • Through training under Whis, the Future Warrior can achieve their Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan form and their Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan (Evolved) form, thus they can truly be considered a Saiyan beyond God after achieving Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan.
    • Additionally while training under Future Zamasu, he will eventually sense the Saiyan Future Warrior has attained the power of a god even before they have acquired any of the divine Super Saiyan forms, indicating that they were able to become a God-like Saiyan without them, presumably due to fighting, training, and/or being mentored by with various high ranking deities (Old Kai, Chronoa, Beerus, Whis, and Future Zamasu) due to being an elite member of the Time Patrol.
    • However, after the 1.17.00 Update DLC, the Future Warrior can obtain their Super Saiyan God Awoken Skill transformation, even after they have obtained the Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan (Evolved) Awoken Skills.
  • Though the Saiyan Avatar users Beat, Note, Viola, Forte, Erito, and Basaku acquire Super Saiyan Blue via achieving Super God Class-up in Dragon Ball Heroes and is available to Note and Beat (who can select any Saiyan Hero Avatar) upon achieving Super God Class in World Mission, they are unable to utilize the Saiyan beyond God state as their Super Saiyan Blue form is essentially a permanent transformation for them that is tied to their class just like their Super Saiyan God form which is tied to God Class-up.
    • However, in World Mission, Beat is an Earthling-Saiyan hybrid descendant of Goku who achieves his natural Super Saiyan Blue form which allows him to achieve Saiyan beyond God as well though he doesn't utilize his natural Saiyan beyond God state in battle due to his Hero Switch granting Super Saiyan Blue Beat access to the Super God Class Hero-type Male Saiyan Avatar by default.
