"Saiyamen, On the Scene!" (サイヤマンさんせん Saiyaman Sansen!, lit. "Saiyaman Joins the Fight!") is the 96th chapter of the Dragon Ball Super manga.

Summary[]

Trunks expressed shock at Bulma's revelation that Piccolo's fighting androids as well as letting slip that he knows about Hedo and his creating androids. Bulma demands to know from her son how he knew this, causing him to admit that he and Goten had encountered Hedo's creations before, and speculates the ones Piccolo is fighting against are a different model, to Bulma's confusion. He then explains that Piccolo might be in trouble as the ones they encountered earlier were already plenty strong as it was. Bulma then demands to know from Trunks why he kept this knowledge a secret from her.

Fierce Fist (DBS Manga)

Orange Piccolo knocking out Gamma 2 with a Fierce Fist

Having awakened his new power, Piccolo, emerges from below as everyone else, friend and foe alike watch on with surprise. Gamma 2 charges at Piccolo and unleashes a barrage of punches at the Namekian who barely flinches and with his stronger form, takes out Gamma 2 with a single punch. Pan meanwhile begins plowing through Red Ribbon soldiers and with Magenta and Carmine seeing the Gammas lose their advantage, they start to retreat. Threatened by Pan, Carmine fires a gun at her, with Pan dodging all of his shots. Outraged at Carmine’s actions, the Gammas finally realize they've been had, and cease their fight with Gohan and Piccolo. Pan knocks out Carmine, while Magenta slips away. Dr. Hedo heads out after him.

Magenta releases Cell Max with his dying breath

Inside the base, Magenta prepares to awaken Cell Max. When Dr. Hedo tries to stop him, Magenta shoots him and begins to undo more of Cell Max's restraints. Dr. Hedo gets up, reminding him about his toughened skin and Magenta reveals that he's gone through some upgrades as well removing his suit to show the cybernetically enhanced body underneath. He prepares to fight but is stung on the back of the neck by Hachimaru, whose poison begins killing him. Magenta uses his final moments to undo the final locks on Cell Max who begins to break free from his chamber.

The battle seemingly over, everyone regroups, now with the Gammas in tow. Bulma arrives, having brought Trunks, Goten, Krillin and Android 18 as backup. Piccolo is surprised to see Goten and Trunks have grown so much since they last met. Gohan notes that Saiyans remain small until they hit a certain age, at which point they have a radical growth spurt. Gohan asks Piccolo about his new form and Piccolo notes that Shenron was quite generous with his "bonus". Gohan asks him to give it a name and being told by Gohan he was orange; he arbitrarily decides on "Orange Piccolo".

Trunks and Goten transform into Saiyaman X-1 and X-2

The sky darkens, and Cell Max, a gigantic, red creature resembling second-form Cell with wings, explodes from below the base. Dr. Hedo attempts to flee from the monster in a hover vehicle but is caught up in an explosion. With concern for their creator, the Gammas rush in to aid him but are attacked by Cell Max and become quickly overwhelmed. Piccolo tosses a Senzu Bean to Gohan, but he fails to catch it without his glasses on and it falls into a crevice. As Piccolo berates him for wasting a bean, Trunks and Goten step forward and transform into their superhero alter egos Saiyaman X-1 and Saiyanman X-2 as they charge into battle.

Movie and Manga Differences[]

  • The scene at Capsule Corporation with Trunks, Goten and Bulma was not in the movie.
  • Carmine calling for his uncle after being defeated by Pan, is absent in the movie; So is his escape by the help of the Red Ribbon soldiers who carry him off the battlefield.
    • Largely because of the latter, Carmine survives the events of the saga in the manga, while the movie implies that he was ultimately killed by Cell Max's attack that devastated the New Red Ribbon Army HQ.
  • Unlike in the film, Cell Max has already had his spots since his debut, and so they do not appear on his body after his activation in the manga.
  • Gohan's poor vision without glasses while in his base form is given more emphasis in the manga.
  • Trunks and Goten have more interaction with the Gammas in the manga.
  • Trunks and Goten becoming the Great Saiyamen to fight Cell Max is not in the movie.
