This was first used by Piccolo to save Gohan from Nappa's Bomber DX. Krillin also used this move to protect Gohan from Salt's Energy Wave in the Garlic Jr. Saga.

"Risking it all for a friend" was named in the video game Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit, where it is a Drama Piece technique. It can also be used in the arcade game Dragon Ball Heroes.

Trivia

  • In every anime use of this move, it was used to protect Gohan.
  • Piccolo saving Goku from Frieza's Death Beam and Gohan saving Vegeta from Cell's Time to Die technique are similar to this move.
