Overview
  +
Ray Guns are smaller self-defense weapons used for protecting a planet or during war. Ray Guns tends to be more common among spacefaring or highly developed civilizations though Earthlings has developed Ray Gun technology though they are not as common as conventional firearms.
Ray Guns are similar to the blasters and arm cannons used by the Frieza Force, but unlike them Ray Guns are simply smaller self-defense weapons used for protecting a planet or during war.

  +
  +
Arm Cannons are worn on the arm and has a wire that connects it to the scouter (some soldiers opt to wear helmets in place of scouters, in which case this wire reaches into a port in the helmet). The arm cannon amplifies the user's ki and fires it at a level suiting their battle power, it also allows the user to fly. The power of the beam fired is based on the power level of an opponent measured by the scouter that the arm cannon is hooked up to.

  +
During the Cerealian genocide, Elec kills Granolah's mother Muezli with his Ray Gun. However, Monaito keeps the truth from Granolah allowing him to survive by working as a Bounty Hunter for the Heeters. However, Monaito would later reveal this truth to Granolah after Oatmeel brought him to where Granolah was fighting Goku and Vegeta. Elec later uses his Ray Gun to distract Granolah, before shooting him in the back, injuring him though unlike his mother, he survives thanks to Monaito's Healing ability.

In Dragon Ball Super: Broly, Frieza Force member Cheelai wields a Ray Gun which she carries in a pouch strapped to her waist. Her veteran partner Lemo wields a slightly larger Ray Gun model. Both wield their Ray Guns while investigating the old Frieza Force distress signal on Vampa. Early in the film, Beets and Colonel Paragus wield Ray Guns while searching for Broly. After becoming stranded on Vampa, Paragus uses his Ray Gun to kill Beets to conserve remaining supplies for himself and his son.

  +
In Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, Dr. Hedo develops two powerful blasters for Gamma 1 and Gamma 2. Both blasters feature a shark motif and are personalized to fit their users' color scheme (red for Gamma 1 & blue for Gamma 2). Gamma 2's can also fire energy blasts that resemble his face. During his confrontation with Magenta to stop the activation of Cell Max, it is revealed that Dr. Hedo has a personal blaster of his own that has an identical design to those wielded by the Gammas, though his blaster is purple & is numbered 0.
Don Kee's soldiers use Ray Guns. Cardinal Mutchy Mutchy, the leader of the Luud Cult, uses a Ray Gun to stop Goku's charge at him.

  +
In World Mission, Bulma (Teen) wields a Ray Gun called Shooting Star with a CC logo on it. She uses it as her Super Attack though as she is a Special Type character to activate it, she must be in the Attack Area with at least one Attacker in the space to her right and she can only fire her Super Attack if the Attacker or group of Attackers wins the Charge Impact. If the CI is one, she will fire her Super Attack after the Attacker or group of attackers, she is with finish attacking (which includes pursuits and their Super Attack). Jaco wields his Galactic Patrol Gun as his Super Attack. Cheelai uses her Ray Gun as part of her Energy Shot Super Attack.

  +
In The Breakers, there are Ray Guns featuring the Time Patrol's logo, one of which is contained in briefcase Future Trunks throws to the Earthling Survivor (who acts as the game's custom protagonist) when they are sucked into another temporal seam that opens up while they are visiting the Time Nest. After coming to inside the temporal seam, Future Trunks informs them of the Ray Gun & asks them to test it out on some nearby boxes. However, the Ray Gun itself is a rather weak weapon & is more useful for destroying objects in the environment than fighting enemy Raiders.

Ray Guns (ビームガン Bīmu Gan, lit. "Beam Gun")[1][2][4], also known as a Blaster (ブラスター Burasutā), are weapons used by people who cannot use ki. They are guns that fire laser beams capable of massive damage to a normal being, but useless to one with a higher power level. They are most commonly utilized as Arm Cannons.

Overview

Ray Guns are smaller self-defense weapons used for protecting a planet or during war. Ray Guns tends to be more common among spacefaring or highly developed civilizations though Earthlings has developed Ray Gun technology though they are not as common as conventional firearms.

The power of the beam fired is based on the power level of an opponent measured by the scouter that the arm cannon is hooked up to.[2]

Usage

During a flashback of Kid Buu attacking Planet Alpha, the Alpha-seijin try in vain to kill Buu with Arm Cannons that fire pinkish purple beams.

They are used by low-level Frieza Force soldiers to allow them to fight efficiently.[2]

In Jaco the Galactic Patrolman, a five-year-old Bulma invented a Laser Gun with blasting capabilities powerful enough to impress Galactic Patrolman Jaco to the point he even asked Bulma if she would consider joining the Galactic Patrol when she was older.

Staff Officer Black's Battle Jacket is equipped with a blaster in its right arm. He uses it against Goku in Commander Red's apartments at the Red Ribbon Army Headquarters.

RitoanRayGuns

Zeshin's comrades using Ray Guns

They are first seen on the Mirror Spaceship, used by Zeshin, Bun and their comrades to threaten Gohan, Bulma and Krillin (thinking that they are involved in the Planet trade).

Soldiers of the Frieza Force on Planet Frieza 79 are seen wearing Ray Gun belts.

In the anime, a flashback shows the Tuffles firing beams at the Saiyans during the Saiyan-Tuffle war.

In Dragon Ball Super, during a anime flashback depicting the Brief family's visit to Omori's Island from Jaco the Galactic Patrolman, Tights can be seen holding Bulma's Ray Gun, as she test flies Jaco's Spaceship after repairing it. During the Copy-Vegeta Saga, the intergalactic criminals Gryll and his henchmen use ray guns while invading Planet Potaufeu to obtain the "Commeson", and while engaging Goten, Trunks and Vegeta in battle.

During the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga, Cranberry uses his Arm Cannon to kill several Namekians, including Grand Elder Moori.

Muezli killed after being shot by Elec's Ray Gun

During the Cerealian genocide, Elec kills Granolah's mother Muezli with his Ray Gun. However, Monaito keeps the truth from Granolah allowing him to survive by working as a Bounty Hunter for the Heeters. However, Monaito would later reveal this truth to Granolah after Oatmeel brought him to where Granolah was fighting Goku and Vegeta. Elec later uses his Ray Gun to distract Granolah, before shooting him in the back, injuring him though unlike his mother, he survives thanks to Monaito's Healing ability.

During the Super Hero Saga, Mai has a Ray Gun with a design similar to the Galactic Patrol's though with the addition of the Emperor Pilaf's Star Mark on the side. When she aims it at Dr. Hedo while trying to apprehend him along with the Sunset City Police Department, she is disarmed by Beta 1 who discards his civilian identity of Baytah to help his creator escape. After being recruited into the latest incarnation of the Red Ribbon Army, Dr. Hedo equips Gamma 1 and Gamma 2 with Blasters featuring a shark motif.

In Dragon Ball GT, Don Kee's soldiers use Ray Guns. Cardinal Mutchy Mutchy, the leader of the Luud Cult, uses a Ray Gun to stop Goku's charge at him. Hyper-Meta Rilldo is able to fires a pink blast from a cannon in his arm.

Film Appearances

CyclopianGun

A Cyclopian Guard charging its blaster in The Return of Cooler

In Dragon Ball Z: The Return of Cooler, the Cyclopian Guards use blasters that are fired from their claws.

In Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’, Sorbet's Bad Ring Laser is actually a ring-shaped Ray Gun (which is pointed out by Frieza later in the film). Sorbet's Bad Ring Laser demonstrates that Frieza Force's Ray Gun technology has advanced along with their Medical Machine technology, as despite its size it is powerful enough to injure even Super Saiyan Blue Goku with a single shot to the chest while his guard was down.

Other Dragon Ball Stories

In Dragon Ball: Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans, God Guardon uses the Ray Gun on his arm against Goku.

In the anime version of Dragon Ball: Episode of Bardock, Toobi, Cabira and Chilled's other soldiers use Arm Cannons.

Video Game Appearances

In Goku Gekitōden and Sagas, they are used by Freiza's soldier.

In Dragon Ball Online, the Kettlean and Bowlean Frieza Force Cyborgs are equipped with Arm Cannons. Additionally, some Rejinean Combatants wield Arm Cannons as well.

Extreme Butoden Bulma Capsule Ray Gun

Bulma firing her old Ray Gun in Extreme Butōden

In Extreme Butōden, Bulma will randomly fire her old Ray Gun from Jaco the Galactic Patrolman to attack when summoned as Z-Assist Support. During the game's opening anime cutscene, while Vegeta is fighting Cell, a shot from a Ray Gun can be seen almost hitting Cell, causing Vegeta to look down to see his wife had fired the shot as she holds the smoking Ray Gun while giving Vegeta a thumbs up.

In Xenoverse, it appears under the name Beam Rifle and is used by Raspberry, Navel, Monre, and Guprei. Jaco wields the Galactic Patrol's standard issue Ray Gun which he uses as part of two of his Super Skills (Elite Beam & Elite Shooting) and as the finishing blast of his Ultimate Skill, Super Elite Combo.

Dokkan Battle Audacious Adventurer Bulma card

In Dokkan Battle, Namek Saga Bulma uses Beam Gun as her Super Attack while Pasta also wields her Beam Machine Gun during her Super Attack. Jaco uses his Elite Beam as his Super Attack. Paragus uses his Ray Gun as part of his Shot Remover Super Attack. It also appears under the name Beam Strike.

In Dragon Ball Fusions, it appears under the literal translation of its Japanese name Beam Gun and Energy Gun and is a Special Move used by several characters such as Jaco, Great Jaco, Jacunks, Chiwak, Chocora, Gato, Tyber, and several others. It is depicted as a weaker version of Elite Beam Gun.

In Xenoverse 2, both Jaco and the Future Warrior use a ray gun as part of the skills: Elite Beam, Elite Shooting, and Super Elite Combo. Holstered Ray Guns also appears on Jaco's Suit and the various Elite Suit outfits (which are basically color customizable versions of Jaco's Suit that feature different symbols/markings). As part of the Hero of Justice Pack 1 DLC, Gamma 1 & Gamma 2 wield their respective Blasters and they both have their own corresponding Ki Blast Types which can be applied to the Future Warrior by equipping their Super Souls. Gamma 1's Ki Blast Type is Gamma Beam (Red), while Gamma 2's Ki Blast Type is Gamma Beam (Blue). Both Gamma Beam Ki Blast Types allow the user to fire unchanged ki blasts & a Gamma Beam as their Charged Ki Blast with the only difference between the two being the blaster used & energy color. Gamma 1's blaster appears as part of his Super Skills Shooting Strike & Heroic Assault, as well as his ultimate skill Super Gamma Blast. Gamma 2's blaster appears as part of his Gamma Blaster Super Skill. Gamma 1 & Gamma 2 also wield their blasters during certain combos. Their corresponding blasters also appear cosmetically in their holsters on upper body portions of Gamma 1's Clothes & Gamma 2's Clothes which can also be obtained by the Future Warrior.

SDBH World Mission Super Attack Shooting Star (Beam Gun) take aim & wink (Special-type Teen Bulma's Goddess of Victory - Super Attack)

Bulma (Teen) winking as she aims her Shooting Star Super Attack in World Mission

In Dragon Ball Legends, Bunny Girl Bulma (Youth) uses a Ray Gun as part of her Surprise Blaster Ultimate Move Art. She keeps the Ray Gun stored inside a Capsule she conceals within her cleavage which she will covertly remove while feigning surrender before blasting the opponent with the Ray Gun at point-blank range.

The Breakers-Prologue-Time Patrol Gun (TP Ray Gun)

Female Survivor holding a Time Patrol Ray Gun in the prologue for The Breakers

In The Breakers, there are Ray Guns featuring the Time Patrol's logo, one of which is contained in briefcase Future Trunks throws to the Earthling Survivor (who acts as the game's custom protagonist) when they are sucked into another temporal seam that opens up while they are visiting the Time Nest. After coming to inside the temporal seam, Future Trunks informs them of the Ray Gun & asks them to test it out on some nearby boxes. However, the Ray Gun itself is a rather weak weapon & is more useful for destroying objects in the environment than fighting enemy Raiders.
