Goku and Chi-Chi began growing radishes in their garden after Kid Buu's defeat. When deciding who was going to battle Abo and Kado, the Dragon Team pulled radishes from the garden in order to see who got to fight, with the longest being the winner. Each participant pulled radishes very different from each other; for example, the radish Master Roshi pulled was shaped like the body of a female, which caused him to have a nose bleed. Trunks ended up pulling the longest and went on to fight the evil duo, soon joined by Goten.
During the closing sequence of the OVA, Abo and Kado join the Z Fighters and their friends at Mr. Satan's ruined banquet, where they are seen eating Goku and Chi-Chi's radishes.

— Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 accessory description
In Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle, two types of Radish drop rewards exist that can be obtained from the Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return! Story event, and can be exchanged in Baba's shop as treasure.
- The name of Goku's brother, Raditz, is a pun on "radish". This is due to the Saiyan names of Goku, brother, and parents being based on root vegetables (carrot, radish, burdock, & onion).
- As a result, it is somewhat ironic that Goku ended up becoming a radish farmer.
