The Pride Troopers (プライドトルーパーズ Puraido Torūpāsu) are a very powerful hero team who operate in Universe 11. They are led by Top.[2] The Pride Troopers work under their God of Destruction Belmod,[3] and thus can be classified as Agents of Destruction.

The most elite Pride Troopers made up Team Universe 11 during the Tournament of Power.

Overview[]

The base of the Pride Troopers is on an unknown planet in Universe 11. The Pride Troopers were originally just a motley crew of people with different ideologies and backgrounds, though they grouped together due to all being on the side of justice. When evil attacks, the Pride Troopers are called out to travel to the planet and eliminate any threats. The team seemingly has at least several bases among the galaxy, including one on the planet Netfiss. The organization is known to have existed in Universe 11 for at least 240,686 years as it existed before Belmod became God of Destruction.

Biography[]

Belmod's past Toyotaro sketch

Toyotarō's sketch of Belmod wearing his tattered Pride Trooper Uniform when he quit the Pride Troopers

According to a bonus sketch by Toyotarō, 240,686 years before the Tournament of Power, Belmod was a member of the Pride Troopers, as well as a very good friend and companion to Gicchin. However, Belmod eventually quit the Pride Troopers to become Universe 11's God of Destruction because he hated Gicchin's "dumb" ideas about the importance of teamwork.

When Team Universe 11 lost in the Tournament of Power, the Pride Troopers were erased with the rest of Universe 11. They were later revived when the erased universes were restored.

In the Universal Conflict Saga, the Pride Troopers defended Universe 11 against the Core Area Warriors. During the Dragon Team's final battle with the Core Area Warriors, Khai sends Jiren to Universe 7 to assist in the fight against the Core Area Warriors, arriving just in time to assist in the battle against Fused Zamasu and Hearts.

Trivia[]

  • The Pride Troopers uniform is a red and black colored spandex. Likewise, their members seem to also have a red aura.
  • They can be considered the counterpart of Universe 7's Galactic Patrol.
  • They are also like a good counterpart to the Ginyu Force, being a team of superheroes inspired by Super Sentai teams.
    • The Tournament of Power heavily reinforces this reference. When the entire team posed, this caused a multicolored explosion behind them, a common trope in the super sentai genre.
    • When Dragon Ball Super episode 101 aired in Japan, "Ginyu Force" became a trending topic more than "Dragon Ball Super" on Twitter in Japanese as audiences clearly associated Ginyu Force and Pride Troopers.
  • The Pride Troopers are named after kitchen tools.
  • Three of the characters in the Funimation dub: Top, Dyspo, and Belmod of Universe 11 are voiced by three African American actors, marking the first Dragon Ball series outside of Japan to do so although Christopher Sabat previously voiced Staff Officer Black of the Red Ribbon Army.
  • The name of Planet Netfiss, one of the team's bases, seemingly comes from fitness.
  • At least three of Universe 11's God of Destruction candidates have been members of the Pride Troopers, Belmod, Jiren, and Top.
    • Additionally, under Belmod, the Pride Troopers effectively serve as his Agents of Destruction though unlike Beerus' Agent of Destruction Frieza, they only destroy evil.
