A very nice large-scale Porunga collectible was released by Banpresto for the 2007 Wonder Festival. This figure has a glow-in-the-dark feature as well as being extremely limited, having a run of 200 pieces worldwide. It is also extremely pricey due to its rare production. The box is a simple white square with the Dragon Ball logo and the content details, listing the character as “Polunga.” Furthermore, the figure is seen standing atop a halved one-star Dragon Ball, which allows for a unique base. The base is attached to a transparent piece connecting Porunga and allowing him to be seen as levitating. The glow-in-the-dark effect is also a nice additional feature. Due to being a limited edition and exclusive to this event as a release, this piece is one of the most expensive Dragon Ball figures to be produced.

High Grade Tobikiri Zenkai Power series Porunga keychain

  • Tobikiri Zenkai Power Keychains
  • Release date: 2007

Following their initial releases, Banpresto also released a highly detailed Porunga keychain figure. The figure stands at approximately 3 inches tall. The Porunga comes in his basic levitating posture, with his tail spiraling around as it stretches downward. This is a mini-figure with a unique paint job although it is also a key ring. The figure’s distinguishing factor is the great impression placed on Porunga’s details. Others included in this same high grade Tobikiri Zenkai Power keychain set are Great Ape Vegeta, Piccolo, Shenron, and Goku powering up.

Polunga-creatures2-first

Creatures Series 2 Porunga figure

  • Dragon Ball Z Creatures Volume 2
  • Release date: 2008

Banpresto has also released quite a few figures for the “Dragon Ball Creatures” series. This series is likely the most highly detailed and sculpted in a monstrous fashion, showcasing the brutal aspects of the series’ villains and monstrous characters. Released in December 2008, and approximately 5 inches tall (120mm), Porunga debuted in the “Creatures” series 2 lineup in a brutal fashion, reflecting a rather horrific vibe with his enormous posture as he is seen hovering and levitating. The figure size is also distinguished as it is quite tall. There is heavy detail on the aura emanating from underneath him, shining in a bright neon yellow glow. His skin is also a distinct forest green, unlike the variant of the same figure released afterwards. The boxart reads his name as “Polunga” as an alternate naming scheme. Also included as a part of the Creatures Series 2 lineup is King Piccolo.

Kai Keyholder series Porunga and Dende keychain straps

  • Kai Keyholder series
  • Release date: 2009

Released in 2009 by Banpresto is a basic Dragon Ball Kai keyholder set. Dende comes with his hands raised up as he prepares to summon Porunga, who is also included alongside him as a keyholder. The keychains are miniature but are rather well-crafted for their size. These two characters are packaged together as a keychain set likely due to the fact that Dende attempted to ask the dragon of Namek for the three wishes during the Namek debacle. Other pieces included in this set are Zarbon monster form with Vegeta, Dodoria with Krillin, final form Frieza with Super Saiyan Goku, and Nail with Piccolo.

The mini piggy banks in this set are very highly detailed although they are made in a chibi format and have larger, pronounced eyes. In the case of Porunga, his eyes are a bright red, but there is lots of detail on the piece due to his scaly skin and dragon-like features, adding further impression to his particularly spiky horns and protruding fins. Others included in the same coin bank set are Dodoria, Korin, and Guru.

Released in August, 2009, and approximately 5 inches tall, this Porunga appears again in the “Creatures Series 2” lineup in a brutal fashion. The figure remains the same as the previous version and the boxart still reads "Creatures 2.” The distinguishing factor here is the aura underneath, being a tint of orange and yellow as opposed to an all-out neon yellow. The skin tint is also slightly brighter, having an emerald green tone as opposed to a shade of forest green. The boxart still reads his name as “Polunga.”

  • Release date: 2009

Offering an alternate paint job, Banpresto also re-released a highly detailed Porunga keychain figure in 2009 as a part of the Kai "Super" variant re-release series. The figurine stands at approximately 3 inches tall. The Porunga comes in the same exact posture as the prior Tobikiri Zenkai Power release and is a mini-figure with an airbrushed paint job. The new paint job is the primary distinguishing factor of this piece from the prior release, which allows for a slightly sharper tone. Also, the new tag attached to the keychain is that of the "Super" Kai series as opposed to the base High Grade set. Also, the paint job is greatly different from the prior release, being much more glossy and rather shiny in terms of the overall appearance.

Jakks Pacific[]

Movie Collection Porunga figure

  • Jakks Pacific’s Movie Collection Series 10
  • Release date: 2003

Continuing the large-scale tradition alongside Giant Ape, Jakks Pacific has released a 9-inch Porunga figure model in 2003 with a unique packaging and bubble. The figure is highly detailed and greatly modeled after the initial construct of the character, entailing all the features with extreme specification on each muscle, signifying the usage of texture and consistency with the character’s skin surface. The paint job in particular is exquisite for a large-scale figure, allowing for all the features to be seen in greater depth. Also, there is a good deal of articulation allowed for such a large figure, particularly in terms of Porunga’s tail. The distinguishing factor for this large collectible is the facial reaction, maintaining his mouth in an open position, adding a great deal of attention to his sharp teeth. Also included in this same set are Super Buu and Super Android 13.

MovieCollection-Polunga

Limited Edition Movie Collection Porunga figure

  • Jakks Pacific’s Movie Collection Series 12 Limited Edition
  • Release date: 2005

In conjunction with Giant Ape, Jakks Pacific has re-released the 9 inch Porunga sculpt in 2005 with an alternate packaging and bubble. There are some minor differentiating patterns on the packaging, but the initial figure seems to remain the same in its shape, detail, and overall coloring scheme. As with most of the figures being reissues from previous releases, the box mockup is impressive yet it does little for the actual item in terms of additional features. Other characters also included in this large-scale set are Super Android 13 and Super Buu.

Also included in this set is a Guru, Super Saiyan 3 Goku, Android 19, and baby Goku in a Saiyan space pod.

When all figures are collected, they each bring together a piece that constructs a large Porunga figure. The Porunga piece in this set is a secret figure that is made up of individual parts which came with the other figures in the series. It was originally sold in randomized capsules where the item within was concealed. Upon collecting all the necessary pieces, Porunga is made whole. Also, the Porunga in this set is rather unique, having a nice repertoire of Dragon Balls floating around him in perfect harmony. The figure itself is very unique due to this special construct as well as having a rock-solid base under rather than an aura.

Capsule Neo Dende and Porunga diorama

  • Capsule Neo Part 11 Freeza Edition
  • Release date: 2006

Released in November, 2006, the second MegaHouse Capsule Neo series to incorporate Porunga was a Neo special edition set. It portrayed Dende along with Porunga. Dende is seen in a darkened light enshrouding him as Porunga rises above him, igniting and emitting a yellow-blaze of light underneath. Dende’s figurine here is enshrouded in the dark overtone due to Porunga’s large presence. The scene where Dende attempts to ask the dragon for wishes is portrayed rather well for a diorama gashapon set, although Dende himself is colored in a black shading to illuminate the presence of Porunga.
