Summary[]
In the ruins of East City, a recovery team works late into the night extracting Nappa's Attack Ball. Elsewhere, Goku and the others are admitted into Wukong Hospital. The blood-curdling screams of Goku having his bandages changed drains the color out of the faces of Gohan and Krillin, who are waiting outside, despite their attempts at ignoring Goku's screams (by attempting to study his homework and striking up a conversation with Master Roshi about dating, respectively). When it comes time for their treatment, they attempt to escape, but are carried back by Chi-Chi and Master Roshi.
Later in their recovery room, Krillin and Gohan are relieved to hear they will be discharged in a matter of days, whereas Goku's injuries will take a matter of months to heal. Korin tells him not to worry, as a fresh crop of Senzu Beans will be ready in around a month. Krillin teases Yajirobe for the way he acted just before Vegeta attacked him, and everyone enjoys a laugh at his expense. Bulma joins them with the news that she has figured out how to use the Saiyan remote control unit. They all tune in to a special television report about the group of scientists examining Nappa's attack ball. Bulma fiddles around with the remote, hoping to activate the pod and startle the research team... only for the pod to promptly self-destruct.
With their last hope of reaching Namek now gone, everyone begins to despair, only for Mr. Popo to appear outside the window, claiming to know of a spaceship they can use. However, he needs someone to come with him to check it out. Being the best technical mind of the group, a reluctant Bulma joins him, and they fly on Mr. Popo's magic carpet to the desolate highlands of Yunzabit. They find an insect-like structure, where Mr. Popo relates to Bulma a story that Kami had shared with him a century ago about his youth and how he grew up here.
With the newfound knowledge that Kami was a Namekian, they are able to surmise that Kami's old "house" is actually a spaceship. By saying the word "Piccolo", the floor of the structure drops down. Stepping onto it and repeating the password, they are lifted up inside. Mr. Popo had heard the conversation King Kai had with Goku in Bulma's airship. Hearing that Kami had been sent to Earth as a youth to escape Namek's climatic disaster triggered Mr. Popo's memory about this place. Bulma tries to manipulate a control panel but is unable to get the ship to respond. She realizes the panel is designed for voice input, just like the door was. It does not respond to her commands, and Bulma figures that the panel is configured to only recognize commands in the Namekian Language, like Piccolo and Kami (the latter in his "Hero" disguise) used during the last World Martial Arts Tournament. Luckily, Mr. Popo learned the Namekian language from Kami.
Bulma suggests that the two of them take a quick test-drive to see if the ship is still functional. She tells Mr. Popo to fly them to Jupiter, and he gives the corresponding command in Namekian. The ship rumbles, then takes off at a furious speed. In her attempt to get the ship to provide a seatbelt, Bulma coincidentally calls up a toilet and a bed. The ship quickly arrives at its destination, and Bulma and Mr. Popo rejoice.

Differences from the manga[]
- In the anime, Goku is shown to visibly distress over being in the hospital causing Gohan and Krillin to be wary about being treated. In the manga, Goku was never shown to have any issue.
- The sequence in Goku's hospital room is ordered slightly different at the beginning. The manga first has Goku relaying that his injuries will take four months to heal and that he may never get back to normal before Korin assures him that he'll be back on his feet in a month once new senzu beans have grown. This is followed by Krillin stating that Gohan and himself will only take three days to completely heal themselves. The anime flips these around so Krillin says his piece first and Goku does second.
- Milton Monroe has an additional scene of him on television in the anime comically injured by the exploding space pod accidentally caused by Bulma. In the manga we only hear his recounting the event while the Dragon Team is aghast.
- The patient that loses his balance on his crutches as the result of Bulma's scream (because of her accidentally destroying the Attack Ball) only does so with the nurse assisting him in the anime. In the manga, they were only shown being scared by Bulma's screaming.
- In the manga, an elderly patient is shown praying from witnessing Mr. Popo's flying carpet floating outside above his room. The anime instead shows a younger obese patient yawning before he freaks out at the sight of Popo's carpet. In general, more people are shown gawking at Mr. Popo's arrival to Wukong Hospital in the anime as compared to the manga.
- Bulma staring down Mr. Popo when Krillin tells her to go with the attendant is filler, though her initial distrust of Popo is still apparent in the manga.
- Bulma's struggle on the flying carpet is expanded to her panicking she might fall off before realizing the ride is stable enough to support her. There is also a bit where Roshi attempts to cusp her rear before she gives him a look that isn't in the manga.
- Mr. Popo and Bulma's trek through Yunzabit Highlands is expanded with the former hopping his way up a plateau as a non-amused Bulma struggles to follow. Her paranoia about Popo possibly doing something "improper" during said sequence is lifted from a panel in the manga where they are merely walking towards the overlook where Kami's ship is located.
- Mr. Popo recounting Kami's background to Bulma in the manga is mainly done from his perspective. The anime is more balanced giving Kami in the flashback more dialogue when compared to the manga. In addition, the only shot of the Nameless Namekian's childhood in the manga was him as a boy huddling in Yunzabit whereas the anime also depicts his growing up while waiting for his parents until he departs the highlands as a young adult.
- Bulma and Mr. Popo's test flight to Jupiter is expanded with Bulma accidentally asking for a toilet and a bed in Namekian while frantically asking for a chair or seatbelt.
Trivia[]
- In the original Japanese broadcast, the first 15 seconds of the next episode preview were devoted to next week's show, and the other 15 seconds were devoted to a movie ticket lottery drawing for Dragon Ball Z: The World's Strongest (Released in theaters on March 10, 1990). This preview was not included in the Dragon Box. Instead, the preview used was the rerun version for the next normal episode, "Nursing Wounds".
- The Funimation dub has Daniel Katsuk credited as the lead scientist retrieving Nappa's ship, but his dialogue in this episode is provided by an uncredited Eric Vale.
- This episode marks Mr. Popo's introduction to the majority of the Dragon Team, including the non-combatants such as Bulma. Before he had only interacted with Goku, Krillin, Tien, Yamcha, Chiaotzu, and Yajirobe.
- The reporter covering the story on Nappa's Attack Ball is named Milton Monroe in the Saban/Ocean dub, but the Funimation dub leaves him nameless as does the original Japanese version.
- Clips from the original Dragon Ball episode "Kami vs. Piccolo" when Bulma recalls the two titular Namekians' battle (with Kami in his Hero disguise) from the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament with even some dialogue included. The lines include Piccolo (Jr.) exclaiming "Did you really think you could fool me with that disguise!?" with Hero / Kami retorting "Your skills have improved…"
- The aftermath of Nappa's pod being destroyed by Bulma is rewritten in the English dubs. In them, Goku is hopeful about coming up with another plan to get to Namek whilst in the original version, he cannot think of anything and even says the Flying Nimbus wouldn't get them there fast enough. Bulma arguing with Krillin about who's more responsible for destroying the ship is changed to her worrying they may never get to restore their dead friends to life now with Krillin recommending Mr. Popo for advice just before said deity to appear behind the former.
- Some dialogue of Bulma accusing Popo of luring her out into Yunzabit Heights just to have his way with her is censored to her accusing of him getting them lost while trying to locate the spaceship. This is present even in the uncut Funimation dub.
- In the Japanese version, Mr. Popo says he overheard King Kai's telepathic conversation in "Picking Up the Pieces" whereas the English dubs merely have him say he had heard the story before without specifying either Kami or King Kai.
- The Nameless Namekian's Spaceship has a computerized voice when processing Bulma's directions in the English versions while the Japanese version keeps it silent.
