Marba (マーバ Māba), known as the Great Witch Marba (大魔女マーバ Dai Majo Māba), is a powerful witch from the Demon Realm. Being the creator of Majin Buu, she is indirectly responsible for most of the events of the Buu Saga.

Appearance[]

Marba is an elderly woman who has a portly physique. She has dark purple skin with wrinkles and bears no makeup. She wears a black gown that completely covers her from head to her abdomen exempting her face, its sleeves are colored Red and have a zig zag pattern while going up the sleeve. In the center of her dress, she possesses a large Red Majin "M" insignia. She does not possess any visible legs and is instead shown to live her life constantly flying. On her dress she wears a large necklace made of bones that has a large lime green pearl attached in the center. Under her clothing, she has a pair of small horns on her head similar to Mr. Popo, and a pair of possible insects like wings similar to King Kai's.

Personality[]

Little is currently known of her personality. However, she appears to have no moral qualms in assisting those of a malevolent nature. She agreed to Bibidi's request to create Majin Buu and merely regretted that he was a failure due to his complete inability to be controlled. Her shame in his creation is enough that she refuses to acknowledge Buu as her creation, lying that Bibidi was the one who created him. Marba would accept Dr. Arinsu's request to make another artificial Majin despite having seen the chaos the previous version spread. She would only demand that Dr. Arinsu properly compensate her for the job.

Biography[]

Background[]

Unbeknownst to most of the Demon Realm, Marba is the true creator of Majin Buu, though she regards him as an imperfect creation due to his rampage in the Demon Realm.[1]

At some point in the past, Marba was tasked by Dr. Arinsu with the job of making another Majin. However, her second creation was dubbed a failure due to Arinsu herself being able to defeat it in combat. To improve on the next Majin, Dr. Arinsu went to Earth to collect a sample of Innocent Buu's body after it was blown apart by Majin Vegeta. She would then give this sample to Marba, who used it as part of her magic potion to create the next Majin.[1]

Dragon Ball Daima[]

Daima Saga[]

Marba is residing inside her house in the First Demon World working on her third artificial Majin for Dr. Arinsu. Arinsu enters Marba's home and finds her stirring the magic cauldron with Buu's essence. When she asks Marba how her progress is going, she grabs a ladle to taste the concoction. Marba notes that the fragment of Majin Buu Dr. Arinsu collected brings the flavor together. Believing the substance to be ready, Marba takes the cauldron outside to finish the final touches.

DBD Ep 8 12

Marba conspires with Dr. Arinsu

Marba pours the blue substance into a hole surrounded by rocks. When Dr. Arinsu expresses her concern of whether this new Majin will be stronger than the previous one, Marba assures her that since this new spell has Majin Buu's substance, it should be fine. Confused by her statement, Dr. Arinsu clarifies that Marba was the one who created Majin Buu in the first place. Marba denies this, claiming that Majin Buu was Bibidi's creation. Unconvinced, Dr. Arinsu reveals that she knows the truth about Majin Buu's creator. Bibidi never had the power to create a Majin, so he came to Marba asking her to make him instead. After promising not to tell anyone else, Marba relents, admitting that Majin Buu a fluke she couldn't truly call a success due to his uncontrollable nature. Marba believes with her new spell putting greater emphasis on controllability, it should be fine.

Marba requests that Dr. Arinsu put some of her saliva in the magic concoction so that she can telepathically communicate with the Majin. Dr. Arinsu gently spits into the potion, causing it to change from blue to green and spewing pulses of magic. As this happens, Marba demands she be given a proper reward in exchange for her cooperation. Dr. Arinsu replies that she'll be rewarded once she becomes the Supreme Demon King. Marba warns Dr. Arinsu that Gomah is very powerful despite his appearance. Dr. Arinsu assures her that if things go wrong, she can use the Dragon Balls. Marba is shocked by her statement, believing that collecting all three Dragon Balls is impossible due to the Tamagami. Dr. Arinsu confidently explains she has several pawns in place, and they have already collected one Dragon Ball.[1]

DBD Ep 11 04

Marba just before forming Majin Duu

Almost finished with her work, Marba adds a Saibamen seed to her concoction. Adding the final touch, the green liquids begin to form outside of the cauldron forming a new being she calls Majin Kuu.[2] After Kuu fails at defeating Tamagami Number One, Marba makes another attempt at creating a powerful Majin, this time using the remainder of Buu's essence and the final Saibamen seed which they plant deeper within the compound despite it being a risk. This new being, named Majin Duu, is formed and immediately demands that he be given chocolate.[3]

After Gomah and Degesu are defeated, Marba seals them away in a jar for 99 years. She is then chosen to be a Minister by the new Supreme Demon King Majin Kuu.[4]

Power[]

Though her combat abilities are not shown, Marba is an incredibly talented magic user. She is the only known being with the ability to create Majin, something not even highly skilled wizards and scientists like Bibidi and Dr. Arinsu can achieve.

Techniques and Special Abilities[]

  • Flight - Marba can levitate off the ground, presumably through the usage of Magic.
  • Majin Creation - Marba possesses the incredibly rare skill to artificially create Majin, having made at least three, including Majin Buu.
  • Telekinesis - Marba can utilize telekinesis. She primarily uses it to assist herself when making magic potions.
  • Evil Containment Wave - Marba utilizes her own variant of this attack, appearing pink in color.
  • Longevity - As a Demon with special capacities, she is able to live well past the average lifespan for her kind.

Equipment[]

  • Saibamen Set - Marba owns a Saibamen Set, though few seeds remain in the present day as she sold most of her collection to the outside world.
