This is a list of notable techniques used by Frieza which have appeared in the Dragon Ball manga, the anime series Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, and Dragon Ball Super, and various video games spun off by the Dragon Ball series.

Physical and Natural Abilities

Thanks to being a mutant prodigy, Frieza has incredible natural abilities.

File:Friza nails gohan.jpg

Frieza pummels Gohan

  • Superhuman Strength: Frieza possess the capability to match the likes of Goku in physical strength and easily shatter plateaus, break the ground with kicks and punches and cause shockwaves. After his four months of training he produce shockwaves that could shatter cliffs while punching at cloud level and make a shockwaves that caused the ground to break shatter and break apart, he was able to make a larger crater, and cause several massive shockwaves that broke the clouds.
  • Superhuman Durability: Even without ki, whilst cut in half and with half his face blasted off, Frieza was capable of surviving the destruction of a planet. After training he could withstand a massive kamehameha and his own death ball exploding right next to him.
  • Superhuman Speed: Despite this ability not quite like Instant Transmission, Frieza can move so fast that he appears as if he's teleporting, even to characters like Goku, Vegeta and even King Kai, who can track faster than light vehicles, and in one scene Frieza runs on water and creates several sonic booms. After training, he could easily more faster than Gohan as a Super Saiyan could track with his first form and keep up with Goku in his fourth form.
Frieza puts himself back together

Frieza tries to put himself back together

  • Survivability: Frieza has the ability to survive anywhere, in any condition without sustenance, even the most horrifying injuries, a trait which was passed onto Cell. This is shown when he manages to survive being blasted into Namek's core and then the planet exploding with him inside it, he still survives even with his lower body sliced off and half of his head blown off, while floating in the vacuum of space. His most impressive feat in this area being how he managed to stay alive and conscious even when sliced into small pieces by Future Trunks. Even when in pieces, Frieza was still able to attempt to put himself back together via telekinesis - though he fell apart very quickly.
    • Oxygen Independence: Frieza can breathe without atmospheric air, enabling him to survive in space, which is why he is not afraid to attack a planet with the Death Ball, Supernova, or Earth Breaker.
  • Bio Suit creation: Frieza's race possess the natural ability to grow natural armor that they can shed at any time. In his true form, Frieza always wears the Z Fighting Suit. It is implied that Frieza can control the color of his Bio Suit in his Ultimate Evolution as he claims he made it gold so it would be easy to understand how strong he had become to his enemies.
  • Superhuman senses: Frieza seems to have enhanced senses even without ki. As he hear of Ultra-instinct from the stands, despite being in the arena during the Tournament of Power. Something of which only Kefla (who enhanced senses are doubled from fusion), Pirina and Saonel (both of whom are namekians thus have incredible hearing) seem to be able to accomplish. He's also shown enhanced sight during the Namek saga, as he witnessed Dende heal Piccolo despite being far away.

Techniques used in the manga and anime

  • Flight – The ability of flight through the manipulation of ki.
  • Ki Blast – The most basic form of energy wave.
  • Ki Transfer - The ability to transfer a portion of one's ki to someone else, used in the Universal Survival Arc when Frieza did this to Goku, in a twist of fate seeing as Goku did this towards Frieza on Namek
  • Transforming Ability – This is Frieza's ability to morph himself into weaker states and from a weaker state to a more powerful one. These transformations are a containment of his true power, with his actual form being what's commonly referred to as "Final". In all, Frieza demonstrated three transformations via this ability.
FriezaEyeLaser

Frieza using Eye Lasers to destroy Guru's house

  • Eye Laser – Precise laser-like beam shot from the eyes. Mild potency, but fast and able to nullify lesser attacks and small projectiles, as well as destroy weaker opponents and obstacles. It is used by Frieza against King Vegeta's Elite Saiyan army who would try to save Prince Vegeta from Frieza (just after he killed King Vegeta with one blow and shortly before he destroyed Planet Vegeta), to enter the hut of the Namekian Grand Elder Guru while seeking the Dragon Balls, and in battle with Goku while fighting in final form.
  • Invisible Eye Blast – An invisible ki blast shot from the eyes. Used against Goku, who counters and cancels it out with the same technique.

Frieza charging a Death Beam

  • Death Beam – Also known as Frieza Beam, this is Frieza's favored killing technique. He extends one arm and fires a small, bullet-like beam of ki from his index finger. It is able to be fired very quickly while maintaining precise aim. It can vary from either an explosion or piercing attack; killing Dende and Vegeta, respectively in this fashion, and also heavily wounds Piccolo, as well as Gohan in Dragon Ball Super when he tortures him in order to get Goku to arrive. Called Death Beam in the U.S. releases of recent Dragon Ball Z video games. His third form uses a variant of this attack called Crazy Finger Beam, where he fires continuous Death Beams all at once; this attack is used on Piccolo during the Frieza Saga.
    • Death Bullet – A single small burst of energy that is usually used as part of the Crazy Finger Beam technique. Named in Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit.
      • Full Power Death Bullet – A powerful finger blast shot from the index finger. Named in the video game Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z, where it is used by Frieza in his third form.
      • Finger Beam – Two beams shot at the same time from the index fingers on each hand. Named in the Raging Blast games and Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi, where it is used by Frieza in his third form.
      • Crazy Finger Beam – An incredibly fast burst which explodes at a location Frieza points to. He uses this ability many times in rapid succession after transforming into this third form to quickly attack Piccolo.
    • Barrage Death Beam – A rapid-fire version of the Death Beam. When used by Golden Frieza under the name Death Counter it is an incredibly fast long-range Death Beam that fires like a gatling gun.
    • Death Laser – An alternate version of the Death Beam used by Frieza in the anime only.
    • Golden Death Beam – The most powerful version of the Death Beam, used by Golden Frieza during his battle with Goku in Dragon Ball Super.
      • Emperor's Death Beam – The most powerful version of the Barrage Death Beam, used by Golden Frieza against Super Saiyan Blue Goku. Named in Dragon Ball Xenoverse.
        • Great Death Beam – Death Beams fired from each finger that home in on targets, pierce through them and continue locking on to other targets. It is Angel Golden Frieza's super attack in Dragon Ball Heroes.
          • Cage of Light - A supportive variation. Frieza continously fires Golden Death Beams to form a cage, with the beams functioning as iron bars to stop his opponent's movements.
  • Death Comet – A technique used by Frieza during Namek Saga. When Frieza is unable to control his anger at the fact that Vegeta stole his Dragon Balls, he starts firing massive spheres of energy that demolish the Namekian countryside.
  • Whirlwind Blow – Frieza uses this attack against three Namekians by lightly blowing, which produces strong winds that forms a tornado. Since he is shown to only use this once and in his weakest form, it may hint Frieza only uses this attack on feeble opponents.
  • Punishing Rush – This is a rush attack used by Frieza in the Budokai Tenkaichi series. Part of this attack is used in Frieza's fight with Nail in the Frieza Saga. Frieza uses a technique very similar, called Meteor Crash, in the Budokai series (not to be confused with Goku's Meteor Crash).
  • Death Ball – Frieza creates a spark of ki lights on the index finger and, once enough energy is gathered, this spark may grow to the size of a small moon. When ready, this Death Ball is thrown towards the target. Typically, this attack is used to destroy planets or as a last-ditch effort to kill an opponent.
    • Fingertip Ball – A small energy sphere used to threaten Moori. Named in the Dragon Ball Z Collectible Card Game.
    • Black Hole Death Ball – The basic version of the Death Ball, charged by Frieza for use against Goku on Namek, and for use against Kale and Caulifla in the Tournament of Power, but was never fired on either occasion.
    • Supernova – A more powerful version of the Death Ball used by both Frieza and his brother Cooler. Used by Frieza when he destroyed Planet Vegeta and the second time against Future Trunks. The name of the technique comes from the Budokai Tenkaichi series.
    • Destroy The Planet! – A variation of the Death Ball that Frieza uses in an attempt to destroy Planet Namek following Goku's transformation to Super Saiyan. However, he held back too much power, resulting in the planet being nearly destroyed. Named in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3.
    • 100% Death Ball – An enormous pink energy sphere covered with electricity which is thrown at Goku while he is underwater during their battle on Namek. Though Goku is able to punch it into space, it still hits another planet, destroying it faster than any other planet destroyed by Frieza in the series. This attack was never used in the manga.
    • Golden Death Ball – The more powerful version of the Death Ball, used by Frieza against Goku in Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection "F". Named in Dragon Ball Heroes.
    • Dark Death Ball – A more powerful version of the Death Ball used by Xeno Frieza (fused with Dark Dragon Ball).
  • Death Storm – A variation of the Exploding Wave used by 2nd Form Frieza. Its name comes from the Budokai Tenkaichi series. Also used in Dragon Ball Z II: Gekishin Freeza and Dragon Ball Z: Super Saiya Densetsu.
  • Death Fork – The first part of the HAIL Frieza rush. Frieza flies at the opponent, impales them with his horn, and then tosses them away. Named in Battle of Z.
  • It's Just Getting Exciting! – A rush attack used by 2nd form Frieza.
  • You Thought That Was It? – A counterattack used by 2nd form Frieza.
  • Punishing Counter – A counterattack used by third form Frieza.
  • Featherlight Touch – Frieza touches the opponent with minimal effort, killing weaker enemies. Named in the Dragon Ball Z Collectible Card Game.
  • Kiai – One of the techniques Frieza against Super Saiyan Goku. At 50% power, it was enough to stun Goku temporarily. Also used in the Butōden series.
    • Shockwave From the Fingertips – A barrage of Kiais shot from the fingertips, used against Piccolo in the manga. In the anime and video games he uses the almost identical Crazy Finger Beam technique.
File:Frieza80.jpg

Frieza using his telekinetic ability

  • Psychokinesis – Frieza has strong psychokinetic powers, allowing him to freely levitate objects, such as boulders and Dragon Balls so that he does not have to carry them himself. He can even lift or move large objects through the air and blow up objects as big as mountains with only his mind. Named in the Budokai Tenkaichi series, where he uses it in his first, final, and 100% Power forms.
    • Psycho Beam (サイコビーム) – One of Frieza psychokinetic techniques in Legend of the Super Saiyan.
    • Psycho Blast – Using his telekinesis, Frieza lifts and throws rocks at his opponent. Used against Goku.
    • Imprisonment Ball – A special attack used on Goku, where he captures his opponent in a ball of energy they cannot break out of. Frieza can manipulate this ball as much as he wants, but it explodes as soon as it touches any surface other than Frieza himself. It is called Psylock Smasher in Budokai Tenkaichi 2. Also, a similar attack is used in Budokai Tenkaichi 3, called I might die this time (perhaps due to that being any victim's thoughts), in which Frieza shoots some rocks at the opponent, and if it hits, uses the Imprisonment Ball, and throws the opponent to the ground.
    • Psychic Move – Frieza creates invisible Ki blades and swipes them at the opponent, knocking them back and creating a crater. Used in Dragon Ball Xenoverse.
    • Death Psycho Bomb – Frieza's version of one of Vegeta's deadly attacks, Dirty Fireworks. Frieza shoots a small energy sphere into the opponent, lifts them up with telekinesis, then detonates the opponent by clenching his fist. He uses this technique to kill Krillin.
  • Divination – Seemingly thanks to his psychic abilities, Frieza possess a small amount of premonition powers, as on Namek he can feel that a Saiyan is developing in power somewhere, despite being unable to sense ki, and so sends for the Ginyu Force.[1]

  • Death Wave – A powerful long blade-like energy beam Frieza creates with two of his fingers and that can slice through anything, as stated by Frieza. Named in the Budokai series, it is also called Energy Cutter, Fissure Slash, and Death Slash. In Xenoverse 2, Death Slash and Death Wave are treated as variations (Death Slash is fired diagonally while Death Wave is fired vertically).
    • Emperor's Edge - A strong red and gold variation of the Death Wave used by Golden Frieza against Super Saiyan Blue Goku. It appears as one of his Super Skills in Dragon Ball Xenoverse.
  • 50% Power – A rush attack used by Frieza in his final form against Goku. Frieza and Cell perform their new combo attack against Goku

  • Hell's Buster – A technique that Cell and Frieza developed together while in Hell. Both Cell and Frieza begin to glow, then a yellow ki emits from both of their bodies, which then envelops their opponent, trapping him/her in an inescapable ki orb. Then, both the users throws the orb prison down into the deepest part of Hell, with the prisoner in it. Named Almighty Light Cage in the FUNimation dub. In Dragon Ball Z: W Bakuretsu Impact, Frieza fires a Death Ball into the attack and Cell fires a Super Kamehameha, creating a giant orange orb of energy. Alternatively, Frieza can use it alone under the name of Fierce Detonation.
  • Dual Tech – A combined attack used by Frieza and Cell: Cell charges an energy wave and Frieza charges a finger beam, and they then fire the blasts together. They prepare this attack in Dragon Ball GT, but do not fire it. Named in the Dragon Ball Z Collectible Card Game.
  • Power Up – One of Frieza's techniques in Legend of the Super Saiyan and the Budokai Tenkaichi series.
  • Kick Combo – Frieza attacks his opponent only with his feet. Named in Final Bout, it is also Frieza's throw move in the Budokai Tenkaichi series.
A Final Attack - Frieza uses Afterimage

Frieza uses Sonic Warp

  • Psycho Barrier - An energy shield around the user to protect them from attacks.
  • Regeneration – While minor injuries seem to be of minor nuisance to him, his ability to regenerate lost body parts is not as advanced as the two other major villains of the series. In the English dub only, Frieza makes a copy of the ability on his scouter for future use when Nail regenerates his arm during their battle. During his battle against the Z Fighters on Namek, Frieza's tail stump seems to cope with the bleeding after some time, and grows back to its regular stage when he transforms from his third to his final form. After gaining immortality in Supersonic Warriors, Frieza restores his body to how it was before being damaged by Super Saiyan Goku. Regeneration is also used by the Ghost Warrior Frieza through Destron Gas.

However, he is able to have a glimpse of a "powerful Saiyan developing and heading to Namek" before the person in question (Goku) actually appeared in front of him. Also, given enough time, Frieza can lock his senses and his mind onto his opponent to read his/her position at any given moment; he demonstrates this when he begins fighting Goku with 50% of his power. In Shin Budokai, Frieza gains the ability to sense ki and suppress his own ki, and he also displays the ability in Dragon Ball GT.
  • Gigantic Rock Throw - In the Tournament of Power, Frieza throws a large chunk of Kachi Katchin at Toppo to nullify his Destruction attack.
  • Death Paralysis Sphere - After firing a sphere of ki against the opponent, Frieza is able to shape it in the shape of a dome, which surrounds the opponent and paralyzes it.

Frieza's New Scouter Model (Red)

  • New Model Scouter (Red) - For most of his life Frieza lacked the ability to naturally sense ki and relied heavily on Scouters to detect ki, a trait which Moori took advantage of by destroying Frieza and his henchman's scouters to prevent them from finding more Namekians. Frieza was later forced to order the Ginyu Force to bring along replacement Scouters. This newer model red lens scouter allowed him to locate Guru and leading to his fight with Nail, during which he used it to recorded Nail's regeneration for future study (English dub only). However it was later destroyed by Vegeta powering up while fighting Vegeta in his 1st form. Was named New Model Scouter (Red) in Xenoverse.
  • Battle Armor - In his first form, Frieza often wears Battle Armor much like his father and soldiers do. Though resilient to damage, the armor lacks the elasticity of other models as it was unable to take the strain of Frieza's transformation into his Second form and shattered. Interestingly, Frieza somehow is able to regenerate it after he is revived and the pieces of his Mecha Frieza form are placed in a medical machine and reverts to his 1st form (it is possible he fashioned it using the surviving components of his discarded Cosmic Suit), indicating it may be a composite of Bio Suit and Battle Armor technology.

  • Rocket Launcher – A weapon which can launch missiles, grenades, as well as mines. It is mounted on Cyborg Frieza's right shoulder in Super Dragon Ball Z, with his left shoulder holding the ammunitions.
    • Crack Bomb – Cyborg Frieza fires an explosive from the cybernetic part on his shoulder. Used in Super Dragon Ball Z.
  • Grenades – Cyborg Frieza utilizes power grenades which he keeps attached to his waist in Super Dragon Ball Z.
  • Spaceship – Vehicle utilized by Frieza and his soldiers during interplanetary travel and Frieza's Siege of Conton City in Xenoverse 2. In Dragon Ball Heroes, a special technique named Attack from the Spaceship! (宇宙船からのこうげき!) has the spaceship turning its headlights on, which decrease the stats of the opponents.
