The Best of Dragon Ball Z series

This is a list of Bruce Faulconer tracks (along with additional work from Mike Smith) and their usages throughout the Funimation dub of Dragon Ball Z when given. All tracks are separated amongst the six "Best of Dragon Ball Z" volumes that released between 2001 to 2005. This page does not feature all of the track usages across the series and shall be updated over time.

Best of Dragon Ball Z: Volume 1

1. Dragonball Z

• "Dragonball Z" (also known as "Dragonball Z Theme") is a piece of instrumental music composed by Bruce Faulconer with help from Budd Guin. It is used as the opening and closing themes for the original English dub of the Androids and Buu arcs of Dragon Ball Z as well as the opening theme for the movies Dragon Ball Z: Lord Slug and Dragon Ball Z: Cooler's Revenge.

2. Call Out the Dragon

• "Ginyu Assault" When Captain Ginyu prods the Namekian Dragon Balls (remastered version).
• When King Kai is thrilled that Porunga has been summoned on Namek.
• "Gohan Returns: When Mr. Popo summons Shenron.
• "Trunks Ascends: While Vegeta is charging up his Final Flash against Cell.
• "Save the World: During the latter half of the Cell and Gohan Kamehameha duel.
• "Goku's Decision: At the end of the episode when Shenron says he is still waiting for the second wish.

3. Future Trunks

• "Another Super Saiyan?": When Future Trunks fires his Burning Attack at Mecha Frieza.
• "Welcome Back Goku": When Future Trunks prepares to slice Mecha Frieza in half.

4. Gohan Fights Frieza

• When Gohan kills Spice and Vinegar with a Double Masenko.
• "Awakening": When Super Saiyan 2 Gohan easily kills all of the Cell Juniors.
• "Cell's Break Down": When Super Saiyan 2 Gohan gives Cell a powerful kick in the face.

• Despite it's name, this theme does NOT play at any point during the fight with Frieza.

• Whenever Garlic Jr. is around.

7. King Cold

• When King Cold is disappointed with his men when they fail to find Frieza in outer space.

8. Frieza's Revival

• "The Mysterious Youth": When King Cold's scientists rebuild Frieza into his mecha form.
• "Goku's Assassin": When Android 18 checks Android 16's pod against Dr. Gero's orders.
• "His Name is Cell": When Dr. Gero's remote tracking device shows up behind Imperfect Cell in Gingertown.

9. Heroic Trunks

• This track was never used in the Dragon Ball Z anime series. It only plays in one of the Future Trunks commercials exclusive on the Funimation DVDs and Video Boxsets.

10. Android 16

• "Saiyans Emerge": When Android 16 tells Android 18 not to worry and assures that Cell will not find them.
• "The Doomsday Broadcast": When Dr. Brief's cat takes a liking to Android 16 and goes up his arm to lick the gentle android on the ear, to Dr. Brief's awe.
• "Cell Juniors Attack": When, during the Cell Games, Android 16 gives Gohan advice that it is okay to fight to protect others before Perfect Cell crushes his head beneath his foot.
• "He's Always Late": When Goku reflects on his childhood while watching the Pterodactyl eggs hatch.

11. Perfect Cell Runs

• When Super Saiyan Vegeta chases the newly transformed Perfect Cell in hot pursuit.
• When Cell calls Android 16 one of Dr. Gero's failures after obliterating his body.

12. The Howling

• "Extreme Measures": When Spice and Vinegar transform.
• "Double Trouble for Goku": When Goku as a kid fights Mercenary Tao (in Master Roshi's flashback).
• "Last Ditch Effort": When Piccolo threatens Krillin after a small question, and leaves after being defeated by Android 17 and Android 18.
• "Trunks Ascends": When Gohan is training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.
• "A Girl Named Lime": When Mr. Lao was fighting Mr. Borbonne's henchmen and Mercenary Tao.
• "Cell Juniors Attack": When Super Saiyan Vegeta charges his Final Flash against a Cell Jr.
• "Trapped in Forever": When Gotenks creates a Ghost Kamikaze in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.

14. Destruction

• "Another Super Saiyan?": Future Trunks transforms into a Super Saiyan in front of Frieza.
• "Welcome Back Goku": When Future Trunks cuts Frieza in half with his sword.
• "Mystery Revealed": When Future Trunks subsequently transforms into a Super Saiyan after Goku did so.
• Semi-Perfect Cell transforms into Perfect Cell.
• When Perfect Cell regenerates after Vegeta's Final Flash.
• Perfect Cell charges the Earth-Destroying Kamehameha to blow up the Earth.
• When Super Saiyan Goku is about to charge a Kamehameha wave after attacking Pikkon with a Super Saiyan and Kaioken combo.
• When Goku is charging the Spirit Bomb during the fight with Kid Buu.

15. Gohan & Icarus

• When Gohan is riding on Icarus before encountering the Black Water Mist.
• When Gohan in his Great Saiyaman outfit challenges a race with the Flying Nimbus.

16. The Cell Games

• When Cell tells Future Trunks that he will hold the Cell Games.
• When Goten and Trunks try the Fusion Dance in front of Super Buu.

17. 16 Rips Off Cell's Tail

• "Silent Warrior": When Android 16 battles Cell in his imperfect form, while subsequently ripping off his tail to try to prevent him from absorption.
• "Say Goodbye, 17": When Cell absorbs Android 17, before the track "Cell Transforms".
• "The Last Defense": When Semi-Perfect Cell attempts to absorb Android 18 before Super Saiyan Second Grade Future Trunks punches him away.
• "No More Rules": When Goku charges an Instant Kamehameha towards Cell.
• "Android Explosion": When Android 16 is about to self-destruct against Cell.
• "The Unstoppable Gohan": When Perfect Cell powers up to his maximum.
• "Cell's Break Down": When Cell regenerates himself after surviving Gohan's Kamehameha, and subsequently transforms into his Power-Weighted Form.
• "A Hero's Farewell": When Cell reverts into his Semi-Perfect form.
• "A Hero's Farewell": When Super Saiyan 2 Gohan kicks Cell down into the hole, in which Cell subsequently flies back up before being hit by Gohan.

• "Mind Trap": When "Gohan" inside Super Buu kicks Goku.

18. Vegeta's Theme

• "Incredible Force": When Vegeta encounters two sea serpents on Namek's lakes.
• When, on Earth, Vegeta laughs and believes that Frieza is killed on Namek.
• "Frieza's Counterattack": When Vegeta hopes to find Goku back on Earth after crash-landing next to Capsule Corporation.
• When Vegeta believes he is stronger than Goku while having a nightmare about him and Future Trunks turning into Super Saiyans at the time he did not have the form yet.
• "Upgrade to Super Saiyan": When Vegeta arrives at the battle scene on the Southern Continent and kicks Android 19 away from Goku.
• "Upgrade to Super Saiyan": When Vegeta faces Android 19 before transforming into a Super Saiyan.
• "The Secret of Dr. Gero": When Super Saiyan Vegeta prepares a Big Bang Attack against Android 19.
• "Follow Dr. Gero": When Vegeta accuses Future Trunks for telling a pack of lies about the Red Ribbon Androids.
• "Goku's Assassin": When Vegeta suspects that Android 17 and Android 18 are the androids Future Trunks predicted after breaking down the door of Dr. Gero's Lab.

• "Awakening": When Gohan snatches the Senzu Beans from Cell after transforming into a Super Saiyan 2, while subsequently facing a Cell Jr.
• "Awakening": when Cell becomes enraged after Super Saiyan 2 Gohan kills all of the Cell Juniors.
• "A Hero's Farewell": When Super Saiyan Gohan starts crying and blaming himself after Goku's sacrifice in the Cell Games.
• "Goku's Decision": When the Z Fighters approach Yajirobe and Korin at Korin Tower on their way to Kami's Lookout.
• "Goku's Decision": After the Z Fighters reflection on their past with Goku at the end of the episode as the Narrator says that Goku has decided to remain in Other World and Shenron says he is still waiting for the second wish (remastered version, replacing Trunks Story, Intro To Finale and Closing Music and Call Out the Dragon).

• "Warriors of the Dead": When Pikkon kicks Cell with his Burning Shoot, greatly surprising Goku with his speed and strength while Cell, King Cold, the Ginyu Force (excluding Captain Ginyu), and Frieza were attacking Ogres in Hell.
• "Trunks vs. Goten": In the 25th Martial Arts Tournament Junior Division during the fight between Goten and Trunks.
• "Magic Ball of Buu": In the fight between Majin Vegeta and Super Saiyan 2 Goku.
• "Evil Lives On": When Piccolo discovers the huge crater caused by Majin Vegeta's Final Explosion against Innocent Buu.
