Limbo (煉獄, Rengoku), also known as Purgatory, is a nightmarish dimension located somewhere between the Other World and the physical dimension.

Overview

Those who die and end up in Limbo are forever trapped and forced to wonder the living world for eternity as bodiless spirits or ghosts unable to be seen or heard by the living.

Anyone killed by demons such as King Piccolo's Demon Clan are unable to properly pass over into the afterlife and are instead doomed to remain lost forever in Limbo, suffering horribly.

• Bacterian - Killed by Tambourine. Released.
• Chiaotzu - Killed by King Piccolo. Released.
• Giran - Killed by Tambourine. Released.
• King Chappa - Killed by Tambourine. Released.
• Krillin - Killed by Tambourine. Released.
• Man-Wolf - Killed by Tambourine. Released.
• Nam - Killed by Tambourine. Released.
• Pamput - Killed by Tambourine. Released.
• Shenron - Killed by King Piccolo. Released.

In addition to this, it's likely that countless unnamed individuals were killed offscreen both during King Piccolo's second invasion of the Earth by him and his children as well as during their first attack on the planet which occurred centuries ago.

Everyone who was killed during the second invasion was later brought back to life through the use of the Dragon Balls shortly after King Piccolo and his children were defeated.

Trivia

• Though they were both killed by Piccolo, neither Goku nor his brother Raditz ended up in Limbo after their deaths instead making it all the way to the Check-In Station. Kami himself makes note of this and wonders if perhaps it's a sign that Piccolo is slowly beginning to change for the better.
• It's never made clear exactly why King Piccolo and his children are capable of trapping souls in Limbo.
