Last Hero Standing! (がんばれスーパーゴテンクスくん Ganbare Sūpā Gotenkusu-kun, lit. "Do Your Best, Super Gotenks-kun") is the forty-first volume of the original Dragon Ball manga series. It is released in North America as Dragon Ball Z volume twenty-five, with the chapter count restarting back to one.

Last Hero Standing!

Shorn of his last vestiges of goodness, the djinn Boo is now pure, undiluted evil! With a single wave of his hand he kills "six billion people", leaving only the heroes in Kami-sama's sky palace alive…but for how long? Inside the palace, Goten and Trunks merge into Gotenks, the only being in the world who might match Boo in raw power. But luckily there's more than one world. On a faraway planet, Gohan and Goku are preparing for their turn to fight...to save the devastated earth before the planet itself is blown away![1]

Son Goku was Earth's greatest hero, and the Dragon Balls—which can grant any wish—were Earth's greatest treasure. After many adventures, Goku finally died saving the world from the monstrous Cell, but he left behind two sons, Gohan and Goten. Then the Earth was invaded by a new enemy: Boo the Djinn. While Goku watched helplessly from the afterlife, Boo killed Vegeta and defeated Gohan, leaving two kids—Goten and Trunks—as the strongest heroes on Earth! But while the fighters trained, Hercule almost saved the world without lifting a finger by "befriending" the childlike Boo and convincing him to stop being evil. But a chance encounter re-activated Boo's evil side, and now Boo has transformed into a new, vicious form![1]

Volume introduction by Akira Toriyama[]

Toriyama illustrating how happy he is at being near the end of Dragon Ball Z

"As of this writing, I only have three more chapters to do before Dragon Ball Z comes to its conclusion. It looks like it'll end on a high note, thanks to all the fan support. Thank you!! I'm sorry it has come to an end, but I've wanted to take things easier and draw new manga at a pace I find more comfortable. The series will end with vol. 26 and the last volume will be extra thick—just like this one. Enjoy!!"[1]
