King of the Demon Realm[1] (魔界の王 Makai no Ō) / (暗黒魔界の王 Ankoku Makai no Ō, "King of the Dark Demon Realm")/ (魔界王 Makaiō, "King of the Demon World"), often just referred to as the Demon King, is a title given to rulers of the Demon Realm, acting as a sort of equivalent to the Kai.[2][3]
There are multiple Kings of the Demon Realm at one time, with the Demon Realm's absolute ruler being the Supreme Demon King (大魔王 Daimaō, "Great Demon King"),[4] while lesser Demon Kings rule over the three Demon Worlds.[5] A Vice-Supreme Demon King (副大魔王 Fuku-Daimaō) can also be present, as Gomah was prior to Dabura's death.[6]

Overview[]
The King of the Demon Realm title was given more detail in the second Dragon Ball: Super Exciting Guide, which was released in 2009. Occasionally, when a Glind with an evil heart is born, the evil Glind falls under the Demon Realm King.[2] The apparent Demon Supreme Kais directly serve under the King of the Demon Realm. Daizenshuu 7 refers to Demon King Dabura as being the absolute ruler who commands all of the Demon Realm,[7] however later media introduced entities who outrank the King of the Demon Realm: the Master of the Demon World[8] and the Dark King.[9]
Multiple Supreme Demon Kings historically had possession of a Evil Third Eye, however it was lost at the end of Abura's rule to Dabura's machinations.[4][6]
Mirayo in Dragon Ball Fusions is referred to as a former queen of the Demon World,[10] while Abura was the Supreme Demon King prior to Dabura, who has several different successors depending on the media: In Dragon Ball Daima, Dabura is immediately succeeded by Gomah upon his death, while in Dragon Ball Xenoverse, Mira is referred to as the new King of Demon Realm,[11] and Dabura later refers to Fu as his rightful successor.[12] Three other unidentified Supreme Demon Kings predating Abura were also shown briefly.[6] Majin Kuu then goes on to succeed Gomah after defeating him.[13]
The royal family of the Third Demon World is led by King Kadan, who aims to take Gomah's place as Supreme Demon King. His daughter Panzy holds the position of Princess.[14]
