The packaging read as Dragon Ball Z “Super Guerriers” and this specific set was Coffret Number 12 (Series 12). Kami stood in a basic stance, holding his staff in one hand, making it rather unique as the only miniature scale Kami figurine model offered by AB, although it was released in numerous packs. Giochi Preziosi[]

AB Kami 1989

Giochi Preziosi Dragon Ball Z series Kami figure

  • Giochi Preziosi Dragon Ball Z series
  • Release date: 2003

The initial AB series of “Super Guerriers Articules” figures had a large repertoire of figures which would be re-released under multiple under licensed companies. This specific piece was originally produced in 1996 (dated 1989) by AB Groupe but did not see a proper release until 2003 under the “Giochi Preziosi” lineup. Kami was quite a rarity in as a 5-inch figure. Due to being a limited release exclusive to European collectors, the figure’s release date and actual original company remain a mystery. However, the model’s production being in 1996 and under AB’s run is a definite conclusive piece of information about this figure. It is unknown why this figure was not released in the original Super Guerriers lineup in 1996 along with the rest of the figures in that set. But it did have an official release by Giochi Preziosi in 2003, albeit being the only official release of the figure. This is Kami’s only 5 inch scale model at the basic figure height and is likely his best figure in terms of height. The figure comes holding his staff and displays his ever-serious expression, taking delicate care as the Earth’s guardian. The actual detail on Kami’s face here is phenomenal for an AB produced piece, being one of the best designed by the company. All his intricate details remain intact, including his insignia, cape, and robe. It is unknown why this piece was not released until 2003 but many collectors have deemed it a chase figure due to its limited supply and unusual release date.
