Kaio-ken Finish

Kaio-ken Finish (界王拳フィニッシュ, Kaiō-Ken Finisshu, lit. "Worlds' King's Fist Finish")^[4]^[5] is a Rush Attack used by Goku.

Overview[]

First, Goku charges at the opponent and kicks them up into the air. Then, he flies up after the opponent and double axe-handle punches them down to the ground. Next, he powers up to his Kaio-ken technique as he charges down at the opponent and double-punches them in their back. Finally, Goku quickly lands on the ground and catches the opponent on their back before throwing them onto the ground, inflicting a great deal of damage.

Usage[]

Goku uses this attack to defeat Nappa. Frustrated that he is unable to defeat Goku, Nappa decides to take his anger out on Gohan and Krillin. Nappa charges down to the ground where the frightened Gohan and Krillin are and prepares to kill them with Break Cannon, with Goku in pursuit. Realizing he is not fast enough to stop Nappa, Goku activates his Kaio-ken technique and attacks Nappa with the Kaio-ken Finish, breaking the Saiyan's back and saving Gohan and Krillin. Goku states that Nappa's injuries are so severe that he is unable to fight ever again.^[6]

During the events on Planet Namek, Goku uses this technique to defeat Burter, though seemingly without using Kaio-ken.^[7]^[8]

In Dragon Ball Z: The World's Strongest, Goku uses it to kill Kishime.

Similar Techniques[]

In Dragon Ball Z: Lord Slug, Goku uses a similar technique to break Medamatcha's spine killing him instantly.

Video Game Appearances[]

In Budokai Tenkaichi and Budokai Tenkaichi 2, it is named Kaio-ken Attack and is one of Goku's Blast 2.

In the Raging Blast series, it is named Kaio-ken Finish where it is one of Goku's Super Attacks.

In Ultimate Tenkaichi and Dragon Ball Z For Kinect, Kaio-ken Finish is performed as the kick and elbow strike maneuvers used by Goku in his fight against Burter.

Trivia[]

In Dragon Ball Z: The Anime Adventure Game, it's said that Goku used the Kaio-ken against Burter and Jeice and so Goku would have used this attack on Burter when he finished him off.
