The Indonesian dub of the Dragon Ball anime started airing from 1996, right after the publication of the official Indonesian translated Dragon Ball manga was done at the same year. The first network to dub and broadcast the anime for 19 years was Indosiar (1996-2015, with re-runs). The license was initially owned by Indosiar themselves, but then was shared with IMMG (also known as International Media Marketing Group) during Dragon Ball GT's first airing until the last re-run periode of Dragon Ball Z. About 6 months after Indosiar ended the broadcast, Global TV took over the first anime series and re-dubbed it.
Dragon Ball
Dragon Ball was first aired on Indosiar started from June 29th, 1996. The dubbing process was done in Indosiar's in-house dubbing studio (this was also done for Dragon Ball Z). The original run of the dub took 3 years to broadcast, ended sometime in 1999.
The OP theme for this dub was titled Bertarunglah Dragon Ball, which used the Instrumental version of Makafushigi Adventure from the English Creative Products dub. The lyrics written for the song was a modified version of Makafushigi Adventure's lyrics. The song was sung by Sulle Wijaya.
The newer dub of the Dragon Ball first anime was aired on Global TV started from August 17th, 2015. The voice casts were mostly changed from the older dub. Strangely enough, unlike the first dub, the OP and ED theme for this dub was never dubbed. Somehow this dub stopped broadcasting midway due to current censorship and broadcast laws.
Dragon Ball: Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle was the only 1 out of 3 DB films dubbed in Indonesian that was currently available on the internet.
Dragon Ball Z

After Indosiar ended Dragon Ball, they went to dub the Dragon Ball Z anime started sometime between 1999 and 2000 and took about 5-6 years to broadcast. Dragon Ball Z also got several home media release via VCD by Akurama at the same period when Indosiar was broadcasting the anime.
The OP theme that used for Dragon Ball Z was the same as the OP theme from the first Dragon Ball anime, although there was the Indonesian version of CHA-LA HEAD CHA-LA earlier in 1995, one year before the first Dragon Ball anime dub started to broadcast.
Just like the previous TV anime, the nude scenes and some of the (too) gore scenes were censored. Here are the three examples of the gore scenes that were censored on both TV broadcast & VCD release:
- The Makankosappo scene, specifically the scene that shows Goku & Raditz' bloodbath coming out of their chest
- One shot on Tien's left arm being dispatched by Nappa scene.
- The scene that features bodyless Dr. Gero after his head being kicked by Android 17
Some names of the characters were changed:
- Princess Snake = Dragon Guardian Goddess (following the rename of Serpentine Road to Dragon Road)
- Dr. Gero = Dr. Maxi (might be a slight change from the Latin American name, Maki Gero)
- Kaio = Emperor (in the movies and manga, they're still called Kaio)
- Bubbles = Bararusu (Paprus in the manga's 1992-1996 translation)
- Yajirobe = Majirobe
- Chaoz = Taco (only for some episodes)
- Kami = Divine King
- etc.
Dragon Ball Z movies 1-13 were also dubbed in Indonesian and released on VCDs. Some of the voice casts were different from the TV anime version. These movies were released on VCD by Vision Interprima Pictures (widely known as Vision Home Entertainment) in year 2001. Most of the titles were based on the Japanese title translations.

Dragon Ball GT
Same as the first Dragon Ball anime, Dragon Ball GT has two different dubs done by two seperate TV channels, Indosiar and Global TV. The first dub was done by Indosiar, with IMMG as the main license owner. This dub started after they were finished with Dragon Ball Z from early 2005 to mid 2006 and rebroadcasted from late 2013 to January 25th, 2015. The second dub was done by Global TV from late 2015 to mid 2016.
The first dub done by Indosiar was based on the original Japanese script. The title sequence in this dub version featured the original Japanese episode title with Indonesian translation of the episode title given on the top. The second dub done by Global TV was based on the Funimation dub script and even used graphical footages from Funimation's DBGT dub.
Dragon Ball Z Kai

After 4 years of re-running Dragon Ball Z episodes, Indosiar started to broadcast Dragon Ball Z Kai from November 7th, 2010. This time the dubbing process was done in either RCS Studio or Erfas Studio since Indosiar's in-house dubbing studio was defunct in around 2008-2010. The original run of this dub lasted for 2 years. It got a re-run from late 2012 to late 2013. Like other International dubs, Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters weren't dubbed in Indonesian yet.
The OP & EDs for this dub were all in its original Japanese, just like the later Dragon Ball Super dub that is aired on RCTI. This dub is also one of the few dubs that still have Kenji Yamamoto composed soundtracks playing in the background for more episodes (until the end of Frieza Saga) even after his removal from Toei.
All of the episode title sequences in this dub features no title texts and title was narrated instead by the narrator.
Unlike the past Dragon Ball Z dub, this dub has the name translations more accurate to the original Japanese. Kaio was called as Lord Kaio instead of Emperor, Kami was called as Kami-sama instead of Divine King, most of the technique names that have been changed in DBZ were then either more accurately translated (ex: Kaio-ken, previously being called as Emperor Fist was then changed to Kaio Technique) or left untranslated (ex: Shishin no Ken, Soukidan, etc.)
Dragon Ball Super
The Dragon Ball Super Indonesian dub came out on April 20th, 2020, broadcasted by RCTI every afternoon at 2:00 PM Indonesian Western Time for 1 hour (2 episodes per day). The voice casts from the Global TV's Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball GT dub came back to reprise their roles. Later, RCTI moved the anime series to every Sunday at 10:30am Indonesian Western Time instead. On September 20th, 2020, the broadcast schedule was moved again to 11:00am and the runtime was reduced to 1 episode per week (30 minutes) due to Ninja Hattori taking over the first 30 minutes slot at 10:30am. This dub didn't last to long as it stopped sometime around October or November 2020 around episode 46-50, probably for putting more focus to Ninja Hattori's broadcast.
In February 20, 2019, Dragon Ball Super: Broly was released in the Indonesian cinemas.

Trivia
- This is one of the rarest dubs of Dragon Ball.
- Sometime, due to Indonesia Broadcasting Commision, which sued the channel which aired Dragon Ball anime series, pointed out that the Dragon Ball is a violence to kids.
- While the voice actors at the most time not credited at the ending sequences (the movies are the exception) since they were either creditless (Indosiar) or used the Japanese credits (RCTI), some of them can be identified with the help of articles and interview videos from the internet.
- According to one of the voice actors' interview video, there is a dub for Dragon Ball before Indosiar got to broadcast the anime. This dub possibly released through audio-tapes sometime around 1995 and 1996. One of them also contains most songs from Creative Products' Songs of a High Spirited Saga album.
- Dragon Ball Z in Indonesian is probably supected to use Cloverway's Latin America video tapes. This is because the titlecards have the same fram of Goku turning Super Saiyan at the end of the opening.
