IMAGINATIONGOTENKSP2

Imagination series 2 Super Saiyan Gotenks with Kamikaze Ghosts diorama set

  • Imagination Series 2
  • Release date: 2004

Released in January 2004, Bandai's Imagination series portrays Super Saiyan Gotenks with his Super Kamikaze Ghosts floating around him in a very nice diorama pertaining to the Imagination series. This is the precise depiction of Gotenks as he declares himself to be victorious, the ghosts encircling him and adding depth to his overconfident nature, making it a great piece in the diorama set. A nice feature is the transparency that the ghosts hold as they are seen floating around Gotenks, one laying down, another maintaining his hands dangling in front and the last one raising his one hand upward. Other pieces included in this same Imagination Part 2 set are Goten riding a dinosaur while holding its eggs, Piccolo with little Gohan resting on his side, Super Saiyan 3 Goku with a fierce aura electrifying the presence around him, and the alliance of Videl and Great Saiyaman as they fight crime back to back.

GotenksImagBest

Super Saiyan Gotenks with Kamikaze Ghosts Imagination Best Series variant

  • Imagination "Best" Series
  • Release date: 2004

The next diorama-styled set released in April, 2004 by Bandai was entitled “Imagination Figure Best Series”, incorporating numerous popular scenes from the series. As the diorama-styled sets continued to be released by Bandai, the original set including the Super Saiyan Gotenks with the Kamikaze Ghosts (which also glow-in-the-dark) surrounding him was re-released. These figurines stand at about 5 cm (2 inches) and are pretty much re-releases of previously produced figurines from other series in one set. These figurines stand at about 5 cm (2 inches) and Gotenks maintains the same posture as prior. This time, however, the kamikaze ghosts now hold a glow-in-the-dark phosphorous hue as opposed to being transparent. The glow-in-the-dark feature is a nice touch for a differentiating factor. Other pieces in this set include Gohan preparing his final Kamehameha with Goku behind him, Oolong making his wish to Shenron (Shenron being a glow-in-the-dark piece), Frieza with the Ginyu Force, Super Saiyan 3 Goku with an electrifying aura emanating around him, and Frieza in his final form with Perfect Cell, Super Buu, and Super Saiyan Goku.

Soul of Hyper Figuration Part 8 Super Saiyan Gotenks with Kamikaze Ghosts color version figure

  • Soul of Hyper Figuration Part 8
  • Release date: 2006

Released in December, 2006, this figure is modeled very similar to the other Soul of Hyper Figuration series releases. The Part 8 set includes Super Saiyan Gotenks as he is seen pulling his one arm back and punching upward with his other in a celebratory motion. Two additional Kamikaze Ghosts surround him, one with a teasing gesture and the other one with its hands thrust upward. He is shaded with a darker tone, much as the rest of the body’s shading around the angles, which is a great parallel to his bright shining hair. The coloring is very smooth and on the mark in terms of precision and style. This is an overall very well-done model. Other pieces included in this same Part 8 set are Kami, Piccolo, Mr. Popo, Super Saiyan 3 Goku, Janemba, Gogeta, Goku with angelic wings, and Super Buu in both his Gohan-absorbed and Gotenks-absorbed state.

Here, the shading has even more impression due to being a monotone black and white variant. The shading scheme is very smooth and on the mark in terms of precision and style. This, like its colored version, is an overall very well-done model.

HybridGotenksA

Hybrid Action series Super Saiyan Gotenks figure with Kamikaze Ghosts

  • Hybrid Action series
  • Release date: 2007

Bandai's "Hybrid Action" series is likely the absolute best aside from Unifive's Posing series in terms of complete articulation. This series features figures with extreme detail yet allows for a nice repertoire of poses to be done. Articulation plays a large role when it comes to basic scale action figures and is likely a great differentiating factor amongst the versatility of specific collectibles. In this case, the Hybrid Action Super Saiyan Gotenks figure is quite a great addition to anyone interested in high levels of articulation. This specific piece was released in July, 2007. Depicted with a serious expression, the highly articulated figure comes with many bends and turns, being quite easy to pose at the joints as well as having circular rotations. The figure is able to be posed in numerous positions, similar to Unifive's Posing series, but at a slightly larger scale. Along with this versatility, another interesting feature to note is the additional pair of inter-changeable hands that come in the packaging. This allows for different postures and overall stances. The figure has over 20 points of articulation and comes complete with a stand and base. The specific Gotenks piece stands at approximately 4 inches. This piece also comes with two additional Super Kamikaze Ghosts, each with a different expression. Pieces included in the Hybrid Action collection are Vegito, Kid Buu, Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta, Super Saiyan 4 Goku, Future Trunks, Bardock, Vegeta, Perfect Cell, Super Saiyan Broly, Super Saiyan Gotenks, Super Saiyan Teen Gohan, Super Saiyan Future Trunks, Goku, adult Gohan, Super Saiyan 3 Goku, Goku (GT), Majin Buu, Super Saiyan Vegeta, Super Saiyan Goku, Super Saiyan Gogeta, Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks, Piccolo, and Super Saiyan Vegito.

In conjunction with Irwin, IF Labs has released a large-scale 12 inch Gotenks in 2002 as a part of the third Movie Collection Series entitled "Fusion Collection" and the last released by Irwin. The packaging is quite unique, with a round bubble and elliptical casing shape. The series was extremely limited and this figure was no exception. However, similar variations of this figure were re-released by Jakks Pacific, allowing for numerous different versions of the figure to be obtained with differentiating boxarts, albeit the fact that the forthcoming figures would portray Gotenks in his Super Saiyan state. Aside from the initial construct of the boxart and box structure, the actual item remains the same. This variant of Gotenks also includes two very detailed and highly transparent Gotenks Kamikaze Ghost pieces. Also included in this Series 3 Fusion Collection set are Super Buu with his own Kamikaze Ghosts, Super Saiyan 3 Goku, and Vegito.

The packaging lists him as "SS GOTENKS" on the box front. The figure is highly detailed and greatly modeled after the initial construct of the character, entailing all the features with extreme specification on each strand of hair, signifying the usage of detail and consistency with the character’s texture and surface. The paint job in particular is exquisite for a large-scale figure, allowing for all the features to be seen in greater depth. Also, there is a good deal of articulation allowed for such a large figure, particularly in terms of both legs having double horizontal joints for unique poses. The distinguishing factor for this large collectible is the transparent feature for his two Kamikaze Ghosts and the very unique golden shine given to his hair, allowing for a very nice touch. Also included in this 2003 Series 6 Fusion Collection set are Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta and Super Saiyan Vegito.

Model Kits[]

GotenksstatB

Resin-based model kit Gotenks with Kamikaze Ghosts

  • Resin-based model kit statue series
  • Release date: Unknown

This resin-based model kit statue displays Gotenks as he maintains his position and is surrounded by two Super Kamikaze Ghosts, both with their own delighted expressions. There are two finished alternate variants available for this resin statue set, one of which portrays Gotenks in his base state and the other displays his Super Saiyan state. Oddly enough, the Super Saiyan trio has a rather unique touch due to the Kamikaze Ghosts having bright yellow hair as opposed to the basic coloring scheme that they maintain onscreen. Aside from this erroneous instance, the rest of the set is very well sculpted and has a great atmospheric touch. The ground base is a shattered interior of the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. The coloring scheme for the model itself is captivating for both variants.
