Gods of the Universe Saga is the story arc following the Kid Buu Saga.[1] The events of this era are depicted in the two movies Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods and Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ and also in the Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ manga. This saga was also adapted into the first two sagas of the Dragon Ball Super series.
Plot
Beerus' awakening
Main article: Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods In Age 778, the God of Destruction Beerus awakens and begins searching for the Super Saiyan God, he faces the Z Fighters on Earth, with Goku facing him in the climactic battle as a Super Saiyan God.
Revival of Frieza
Main article: Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ A year later, in Age 779, the worst wish in history is granted and the tyrant Frieza is brought back to life and after four months of training attacks the Earth. He faces Goku and Vegeta, who have both ascended to a form beyond Super Saiyan God, in an earth shattering battle that surpasses gods.
