"It seems that when you fought me in God form your body learned from the experience, merely feeling that level of power was enough to push you to new heights. So now even though your God form has expired, your power is much greater than before."
Beerus to Goku in Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods

God's Crimson Radiance is a special trait of the Super Saiyan God form.

Overview[]

The "God's Crimson Radiance" is a term used to describe the staggering power increase of the Super Saiyan God transformation. When the transformation wears off, the remainder of its strength is retained by its user during battle thanks to the user's body imprinting on the experience with the form, resulting in a powerful aftereffect for the user. Having God's Crimson Radiance also grants the user a degree of resistance to lesser dark magic.

Usage and Power[]

During Beerus and Goku's battle of gods, Goku dropped out of Super Saiyan God mid-fight but managed to somehow retain the power of the transformation in his Super Saiyan form. Not realizing his change in appearance, Goku continued his attempt to pressure Beerus until he was forced to hold off the Destroyer's Sphere of Destruction, at which point Beerus surmised to him that his body had adapted to the level of strength brought on by Super Saiyan God and retained the "God's Crimson Radiance" the latter transformation had initiated, meaning that he had not truly gotten weaker at all. Eventually, Goku reawakened the full Super Saiyan God transformation in a last-ditch effort to disperse the Beerus Ball.

Later, Goku realized that due to the way his body had adapted to Super Saiyan God's power increase when in Super Saiyan, it would be better to further adapt it to his base form as well as his mastered Super Saiyan state. As such, training under Whis allowed him to improve his adjustments to the power in base form, becoming a Saiyan beyond God, and in turn evolving his Super Saiyan form into Super Saiyan Blue. Vegeta would also master divine energy in his Super Saiyan state to also achieve the Blue form.[1]

In the movie, it is said that the Super Saiyan (with God's Crimson Radiance) form possesses power only somewhat below Super Saiyan God. In the anime it is said by Beerus that this state possesses the strength of a Super Saiyan God, and later by Vegeta that it surpasses Super Saiyan God.[2]

In the Dragon Ball Super manga, Goku Black in his Super Saiyan form manages to reach a level of power where he can battle the tired Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta - after surpassing this level of strength it is noted that he "surpassed Super Saiyan God".

In the Xenoverse series, the God's Crimson Radiance is shown to protect its user from Dark Magic, as a post-Battle of Gods Goku is unaffected by Demigra's dark sorcery and believes it to be the result of his transformation. Presumably aware of this limitation, Towa likewise never attempts to control Goku with Dark Magic in Xenoverse 2. Despite this, Fu, an even more brilliant scientist than his mother Towa, was able to advance the Supervillain state to be able to partially affect Super Saiyan God SS Evolved Vegeta, develop the even more potent Ultra Supervillain transformation to temporarily infect Super Saiyan God Vegeta, and create Demon Realm Crystals that the Future Warrior can use to achieve Supervillain even when using forms granting God's Crimson Radiance, such as Super Saiyan God, Super Saiyan Blue, or Super Saiyan God SS Evolved. Additionally, villainous entities such as Super Saiyan Rosé Goku Black and Fused Zamasu are also able to utilize Supervillain despite them possessing the God's Crimson Radiance through their Super Saiyan Rosé form.

In Dragon Ball Legends, Shallot and Giblet are able to utilize God's Crimson Radiance via their Super Saiyan God forms. Giblet also possesses a Dark Ki-enhanced version of Super Saiyan God, despite the God's Crimson Radiance, but he later overcomes it and masters the power for himself.

Similarly, in Super Dragon Ball Heroes, Vegeta and Goku were susceptible to Cumber's Evil Aura despite using their Blue forms. However, like Giblet in Legends, Vegeta was also able to overcome the dark energy and assert control over it, gaining a new transformation.

Video Game Appearances[]

This form appears in Dokkan Battle as a unit under the name Saiyan of a New Dimension Super Saiyan Goku. It also appears as the transformed state of Fighter Entrusted with Allies' Wishes Super Saiyan God Goku under the name "Super Saiyan Goku".
