"Future" Trunks Saga[]

Main article: "Future" Trunks Saga In the anime, Shin aids Trunks by giving him instructions on to how to defeat Dabura. After their battle against the Organization of Babidi, Goku Black kills him during the period of time in which he hunted down all the Supreme Kais of each Universe.[2]

In the manga, Shin invites Trunks to the Sacred World of the Kai to train him in preparation for Babidi's arrival on Earth. Shin is impressed with Trunks' ability to master the Z-Sword, even trying to finalize his training with by cutting Katchin. However, as Shin is about to toss the metal to Trunks, Kibito becomes aware of Babidi's movements, so the three head to Earth in response. After some time, Pui Pui and Yakon are defeated, with Shin sustaining some injuries. While Trunks is in the middle of fighting Dabura, Dabura spits on the Z-Sword that Trunks is wielding. It breaks after Shin demands that Trunks throw the sword away, preventing him from turning into stone.

Shin is disappointed that he miscalculated Babidi's ability to be able to have Dabura as his servant. He then exclaims that he will not allow Babidi to revive Majin Buu. He attempts to attack Babidi, but the evil wizard is aided by Dabura, who proceeds to hit Shin with a ki blast. Kibito attempts to assist Shin but is blasted and quickly killed by Dabura. While Shin is defeated and lying on the ground, Babidi continuously attacks Shin, mercilessly torturing the Supreme Kai with his magic.

Witnessing this torture inflicted upon Shin allows the enraged Trunks to become a Super Saiyan 2, who then attacks Dabura, leading to Babidi's death in the process. Shin freezes Dabura in order to allow Trunks to kill him, which Trunks then successfully does, ending the demon king and fully thwarting Babidi’s plans. The now mortally wounded Shin, satisfied at their victory, expresses his relief that Majin Buu's revival was prevented. He then collapses, succumbing to his injuries and passing away.[3]

-Trunks- The Warrior of Hope

As part of the -Trunks- The Warrior of Hope DLC, Future Shin appears along with Future Kibito in Episode 3: "Looming Threat" after Future Trunks tells Future Bulma he is going out on patrol. Before he is properly introduced to Future Trunks by Future Kibito (who is named Brawny Man in his dialogue boxes before Future Shin introduces him to Future Trunks) he is referred to as Mysterious Man in his dialogue boxes. After being introduced, Future Shin is referred simply by his title of Supreme Kai.

Episode 3 - "Looming Threat"

As Future Trunks leaves the Capsule Corporation's Underground Laboratory that he and his mother still call home as the reconstruction of the Capsule Corporation is still ongoing, he is greeted by Future Shin and a surprised Future Trunks greets him back. Future Shin notes that Future Trunks certainly possesses a good spirit, to Future Trunks' confusion.

Future Freedom Fighter Trunks, the Warrior of Hope

Future Trunks thinks to himself that there is something different about the mysterious man, who he notices is levitating in the air next to Future Kibito who is standing on the ground which surprises him. Future Shin notes there is no need to be surprised as he points out Trunks can do it too referring to him by name. Hearing the floating stranger call him by name puts Future Trunks on guard out of fear that they may be another pair of Future Dr. Gero's Androids. Future Trunks asks who they are and how they know his name, and also asks them if they are Androids.

Future Kibito is offended by Future Trunks' insolence and asks him if he has any idea who the mysterious man is. He then formally introduces Future Shin as the Supreme Kai, who occupies a position higher than even that of the Kais that Future Trunks is aware of. Future Trunks is still somewhat confused, though concludes that Future Kibito is trying to say that Future Shin is a Guardian or something like that. Future Kibito says not exactly and that it would take a great deal of time to explain, but that all he needs to know is that the point is that he and Future Shin stand above the beings that govern their universe. Future Trunks finally understands, and Future Shin introduces the Brawy Man standing next to him as his attendant Kibito. Future Trunks says hello to Future Kibito though he remains silent, causing Future Trunks to think to himself that Future Kibito isn't very friendly. Future Shin explains to Future Trunks that they have come to inform him that the Earth and the entire universe are in grave danger. Future Trunks confusedly asks what he is talking about.

Future Shin notes his reaction comes as no surprise and says he will explain everything the best he can. He then explains that a great evil is on the urge of awakening from a deep slumber, a terrible creature that once threatened all of existence and is capable of destroying hundreds of worlds in just a few years' time. He then reveals that the being is known as Majin Buu. Future Trunks notes Majin Buu sounds terrifying. Future Shin then tells Future Trunks what he knows of Future Majin Buu including the erroneous backstory which stated that Future Bibidi created him. Bibidi planned to attack Earth and brought the orb in which Future Majin Buu is sealed. Future Shin explains how he was able to kill Bibidi while Future Majin Buu was still sealed. Deciding to leave the orb where it was out of fear that they might break it and lead to Future Majin Buu awakening. Future Shin, however, notes that Future Bibidi had a son, Future Babidi, who aims to break the seal and unleash Future Majin Buu's power upon the Earth. Future Shin believes there is no doubt that Babidi will revive Buu to fulfill his father's wish of laying waste to Earth, then move on to other worlds throughout the Universe.

Future Trunks notes that it sounds awful and Future Shin agrees, noting that is why they are there as they need his power to stop Future Babidi, further noting that his Super Saiyan ability will be of great use. Future Trunks notes that Future Shin knows a lot about him before asking if the wizard Babidi is really that strong, though Future Shin notes Babidi himself is frail and poses no real physical threat. Future Shin explains that its deadliness lies in Babidi's strange magic making him a difficult foe and that he's capable of controlling the minds of the evil and covetous. Future Kibito notes Future Babidi uses this sinister technique to afford himself a large army of loyal minions who do his bidding.

Future Trunks notes he doesn't think he's ever fought anyone who uses magic. In order to prepare Future Trunks for the battle ahead, and they will need him to join them on in the Sacred Land of the Kais and wield the sword of legend. Future Trunks says he's not sure how much he can help, but if it is to defend peace, he'll join them. However, before he does so he asks to be given some time to speak with his mother and take care of a few things before leaving. Future Shin understands and once Future Trunks is prepared to leave, he should come speak to him again.

Techniques and Special Abilities[]

  • Flight - The ability to fly by utilizing ki.
  • Life Link – Future Shin's and Future Beerus' lives are linked to one another, so if one of them dies, the other will die as well (in a manner similar to Piccolo and Kami) in order to prevent an imbalance between the natural forces of creation and destruction which Future Shin and Future Beerus represent. Since Future Shin died due to sustaining injuries from Future Dabura, Future Beerus ended up being killed as well.
  • Healing - In the manga, while still an Apprentice Supreme Kai, Future Shin possessed the same healing powers as Future Kibito. However, after becoming Eastern Supreme Kai, he lost his healing abilities due to them being tied to his former position as an apprentice.
  • Magic Materialization - A magical ability used to create physical matter out of thin air.
  • Telekinesis – A technique that allows the user to manipulate objects and other people with the power of one's mind.

  • God Blaster - A pink energy wave technique used by Future Shin in Kakarot.
  • God Sphere - A technique where Shin creates eight pink energy spheres which circle around him before he launches them at the opponent. One of Future Shin's attacks in Kakarot.
  • Judgement Bullet - A volley of pink ki blasts. One of Future Shin's attacks in Kakarot.
  • Mental Simulation Manifestation - Future Shin has the ability to physically manifest a mental image of a fighter effectively allowing him to create sparring partners based upon someone else's memory though they disappear once defeated. As part of the -Trunks- The Warrior of Hope DLC in Kakarot, Future Shin uses this ability to manifest Future Trunks' mental image of Super Saiyan 2 Gohan (based upon his Cell Games incarnation) for Future Trunks to spar with as part of his Z Sword training.

Equipment[]

  • Potara - Earrings worn by Supreme Kais and their apprentices. Despite being worn so casually, they have incredible properties, allowing two individuals to fuse or permitting the wearer to use the Time Rings.
