Forum Super saiyan 3 vegeta?

Should vegeta have turned super saiyan 3? Throughout dragonball Z Vegeta has always pushed himself to the limits trying to best Goku resulting in him becoming a super saiyan 1 and 2. In GT he becomes super saiyan 4 and skips out 3. I think because of his obession with becoming more powerful than Goku would have caused him to have reached super saiyan 3 shortly after Goku did. Ssj5vegeta 20:12, September 3, 2009 (UTC)

I think the only reason Goku was able to generate that much energy in the first place was because he died. When he was dead he was shown to have nearly limitless energy. He probably attained it, then practiced it like crazy to be able to use it as a human ( "sorry to keep you waiting...I haven't had much occasion to practice this one..." ) lol

Yeah, thats the only reason goku went ssj3 and thats the only reason he's alive. I've been telling people this a lot and've been studing it.

Just thought that I should point this out, that the person that wrote this at the top is missing out on something; not to be mean, but Goku isn't a human. If he was, then there wouldn't be any super SAYIAN transformations coming out of him....

Well Actually...

Vegeta never went SSJ3 because when he died the second time he didnt have a body train in, thats why. The only reason Goku went SSJ3 was because he trained in the heavens for so long, while Vegta only traind on Earth. In the heavens you have a limitless amount of energy, and it helps one get stronger than on a planet. Plus, with Goku dying so much and all, ? that brougt his strength up. Vegeta earned ssj2 during the seven years of peace after Cell. The only reason Goku went ssj4 becuase ofthe Kais help and Pan. Forget Goku, Vegeta's the best. he did in a movie but never agin

Not the same person! : Some of the fighters in the other world tournament were shown to get tired. I know that wasn't in the manga but :S Ultra Buugetto (talk) 15:07, June 30, 2013 (UTC)

Goku's Advice

Vegeta could? just? ask Goku how to become a super saiyan 3, but what would Goku say? "You Can't", "You need more training" or "Ok I'll show you first turn Super Saiyan and go beyond that to Super Saiyan 2 and if you go beyon this you'll become Super Saiyan 3" could this be the only thing that could help vegeta. (SuperSaiyan4BurstMode 14:30, October 26, 2009 (UTC))

Why would he ask Goku? He didnt have to for Ssj1 and 2. Okay for one thing i want to piont this out even if he asked goku how to go ssj3 its not like he can just do it he needs to train and have something snap that power out of him cause if you just ask and turn into right after that then it would be to easy.

Vegta doesn't need Goku's low-class help. He did everything on his own from his pride to the erge to be the best of the best.

Goku did all those transformations by him self too.

But if you think about it, he did think back when Goku went ssj3 and was fighting Buu; said that Goku was indeed stronger, and that he wondered how he became so strong.

Vegeta did have the power

Of course he was strong enough to achieve it, the only thing prevented him from becoming stronger then Goku were, like mentioned before, the Otherworld trainings; I think about the Kaio Ken par example.

And he didn't ask how to turn into it, because he has his pride, and I don't think it would work. It is something that you need to have or not have. The reason Vegeta didn't become a super saiyan 2 and 3 that smooth, was because he wasn't pure hearted. When Babidi made him again pure evil, he was kind of a match for Goku. But when he started to care about others again, that slowed down his progress again. But vegeta does soon get a pure heart because he helped goku go SSj god and you need a pure heart to do that

He was perfectly capable of going SS3

I'm not completely convinced that Vegeta never went to Super Saiyan 3 (even though we never saw it). But if he didn't, I think he was perfectly capable of doing so. Vegeta witnessed Goku fighting Kid Buu in SS3 form. He understood that it was extremely powerful, yet it had serious drawbacks. Through training, Super Saiyan 2 actually seems to be a more reliable, stable and more effective form. This rises the question of "Can a SS1 be stronger than an SS2?" or like we're talking about now, "Can a SS2 be stronger than a SS3?". Of course they can.. If you disagree with that, think about this. When Goku fought Freeza and turned SS1 for the first time his power level was only around 15,000,000 (I think). When Vegito fought Buu after he absorbed Goten, Trunks, Gohan etc etc.. Vegito was way more powerful in his base form than Goku in SS1 when he fought Freeza. I believe the levels of Super Saiyans make a Saiyan stronger, but I also believe that the previous forms can be improved upon and become more developed. There's a lot more to it than just SS1, SS2, SS3, SS4.

Vegeta never needed to go SS3. No one has ever seemed to have a problem staying in SS2 form, so why not stick with that and train to become stronger than a SS3 without the disadvantages?

SSCASS 20:32, January 3, 2010 (UTC)

I dont think that is able to be done unless your fused because if you train in super sayian 2 for along time you can not be stronger than you ss3 form because that form is what i believe 20times stronger than your last form and the more you train in your lower levels of SS the higher power you will have in your other forms

The reason Vegito was more powerful than a Ssj2 two was because it was two fighters fused together A lone sayain couldnt become stronger as a Ssj1 than Ssj 2 (with the exception of Broly Ssj5vegeta 00:03, February 3, 2010 (UTC)

The person at the top of this section is wrong. First of all Goku's power level during the Frieza Saga as an SSJ1 was around 150,000,000 not 15,000,000. Secondly, he is comparing Goku during completely different times of his life, not to mention the fact that Vegito is Goku AND Vegeta fused together. Frieza Saga Goku was when he just went SSJ1 for the first time, and Vegito happened during the Buu Saga, 12 years after Frieza Saga! (2 years after Frieza + 3 years for arrival of Androids + 7 years after Cell = 12 years) During that 12 years Goku fought ALOT and trained even more. He was in Otherworld for the 7 years after Cell and learned SSJ3, then he trained even more so he could use it with a body. Cell, the Androids, and Buu were mulitple time stronger then Frieza and he had to get stronger to beat them. Of course Buu-Saga-Base-Form Goku would beat Frieza-Saga-SSJ1 Goku, that's just plain obvious. Hell, even Teen Gohan dominated Frieza during the Buu Saga, and he was in his Base Form too. To answer the questions "Can a SS1 be stronger than an SS2?" and "Can a SS2 be stronger than an SS3?", the short answer is no. In order to determine which is stronger you have to compare the character AT THE SAME TIME IN HIS LIFE WITH THE SAME BASE POWER LEVELS. Saying "Base Form Vegito is stronger than SSJ1 Frieza Saga Goku" is an absolutley idiotic comparision. Vegito is obviouly stronger due to the time between the two Sagas and because of the fact it's Goku and Vegeta fused. Comparing SSJ2 Goku when he fought Majiin Vegeta to SSJ3 Goku if he decided to use that form in the fight is a much more valid comparision. SSJ2 multiples a Saiyans base power by 100x and SSJ3 multiples a Saiyans base power by 400x. In conclusion SSJ3 is ALWAYS stronger than SSJ2 with 2 people of similiar power levels. Can a Saiyan as SSJ2 be stronger than a SSJ3? Yes, but the SSJ3 Saiyan would have been at least 4x weaker than the SSJ2 Saiyan in his base form and it wouldn't be a fair comparision. If the question is "Which is more reliable in battle?" then, well it depends. Is the battle intended to be quick? Then SSJ3 is the better option. Do you plan on showing off and toying with your opponent? SSJ2 would probably be better, although you run the risk of not being strong enough to win.

Back to the original topic of this thread, I also do not think it was possible for Vegeta to go SSJ3, mainly because of the aformentioned reason that Goku only learned it in Otherworld where he didn't have the restraints of a physical body. When Vegeta died during the Buu Saga I don't believe he kept his body, although I may be wrong on that. Even if he did, he did not have the time to attempt to learn it before King Yemma brought him back to fight Buu. Also I just believe the Vegeta was not able to learn it in the first place. Vegeta and Goku are very similiar, they both strive to make themselves better warriors. However, their reasons are different. Goku fight and trains so he can protect his family and friends. His pure-hearted intentions are what drive him to push his limits and the limits of his Super Saiyan powers to new levels. Vegeta, however, pushes himself to be the strongest warrior just because. He hates the feeling that someone more powerful than him is out there, so he constantly tries to catch up to Goku's strength. He spends all of his time playing catch up that he never even thought to consider a possiblity of a form beyond Super Saiyan. His mind is tainted by the envy he has for Goku, and without a pure-heart, there's only so far he can push his limits.

It's Possible!

i think its very possible for vegeta to accent into ssj3

he managed to accent to ssj,

babidi merely amplified the evil in him and thus for

releasing hatred, anger, revenge.which are traits that can helped all the saiyans accend.

but vegeta doesnt need to be evil to accend.he just has to have a good heart.

and he manages to gain that good heart, even after being controlled he still was able to accend to ssj2

he even accended to ussj with trunks in the htc.

hes a saiyan and he has no limit.

or maybe he just need to train in other world like goku did.

could goku even had accended without dying?????

hmmmm? vegta does not need a got heart to ssj u need pure of evil or good and sayians r born evil evil is the proper and normal way to go

vegeta deos not need a good heart to become anything evil is the way sayains were born evil so evil is the key for a sayian

Just because he had the ability to ascend to Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan 2 and Ultra Super Saiyan, does not mean he had the ability to transform to Super Saiyan 3. Also after Goku died, it appears as though Vegeta lost enthusiasm to train and the desire to beat Goku simply because he was not there, and there was nothing to train for, however Goku was training in the other world, as thats all he lives to do  SSJ4 Lewich  talk  contribs  12:12, April 5, 2010 (UTC)

well, goku was the main reason he trained to ascend BUT what makes you think he couldnt go all the way?

its really just about the fact that goku trained more, yes he is stronger than vegeta but that DOES NOT mean he doesnt have the potential to reach ssj3. yo goku cheats his way to get dtrong vegta doesent vegeta stronger

he IS a super saiyan.just like goku.ive watched every episode of dbz and dbgt. and goku and vegeta were almost equal all threw out.

vegeta reached points in his power way before goku did.

like controling the great ape form and worked out his weakness with his tail, and i think goku was influenced alot by vegeta and i know that vegeta is more than capable

of matching gokus ssj3.hes always been able to match him before why not now?

Im fully aware of the equality of both of them, having watched every episode also, however there were only two points in the whole of Dragonball Z and Dragonball GT that they were equal in power, right at the beginning of Dragonball Z during the Saiyan Saga, and at the very end of GT in which he becomes a Super Saiyan 4. They were in no way equal during the rest of the series's. During the Namek and Frieza Saga, Goku was clearly stronger having defeated most of the Ginyu Force where Vegeta couldn't and he also defeated Frieza, where Vegeta was killed. During the Trunks Saga, Goku is still clearly stronger as Vegeta has not even become a Super Saiyan yet. We cannot compare them during the Android Saga however, as Goku is confined to his bed mostly with the deadly heart virus. During the Cell Games, Goku is again stronger as he is able to put up an even match again Perfect Cell, where Vegeta was easily beaten around. During the Babadi and Majin Buu Saga the two Saiyans even have a great battle. They appear to be evenly matched as Super Saiyan 2's however Goku is hiding is true ability to go to a Super Saiyan 3. For the rest of Dragonball Z Vegeta is clearly outmatched. During GT Vegeta is outmatched as Goku is able to transform to his Super Saiyan 4 form, and Vegeta is still stuck in Super Saiyan 2 form. It remains like this for the remainder of the series, until Bulma is able to use her Machine to get Vegeta to a Super Saiyan 4. Then we cannot see who would win in a battle as Goku disappears.  SSJ4 Lewich  talk  contribs  09:33, April 6, 2010 (UTC)

i think vegeta can go ss3 if he trained hard enough. he was able to reach ss2 by training himelf. goku on the other hand trained in other world to reach his ss2 & 3 form which was VERY easier as otherworld has more of an advantage in training than earth. in the kid buu saga vegeta realised dat the reason goku surpasses him everytime is cuz he does not fight for power, but rather test himself to higher limits. vegeta cud of used dis to his advantage and started to train without a lust for power so he cud achieve ss3 but he decided not to and trained at an average level maybe due to the fact dat he did not have that thirst of surpassing goku anymore. now if u go to think of it, had he of trained harder like goku, then by the end of Z or the start of GT, he wud definatley of become a ss3.TheDarkPrinceReturns! 14:28, April 6, 2010 (UTC)

He did not become a Super Saiyan 2 through training, unfortunatly TheDarkPrinceReturns!, it was due to Babidi turning him to Majin Vegeta, the only form he achieved himself without the aid of something (e.g Bulma's Blutz Wave Machine, or Babidi Majin Magic) was the original Super Saiyan form  SSJ4 Lewich  talk  contribs  15:07, April 6, 2010 (UTC)

Actually, TheDarkPrinceReturns! is right, Vegeta did achieve Super Saiyan 2 through harsh training, as it is stated in the Daizenshuu. What Babidi did, at it's stated by Babidi himself, was to unleash Vegeta's potential, and you can notice that by the strain in Vegeta's muscles. As for the matter at hand, I believe that by the end of Dragon Ball Z that Vegeta had a basic powerlevel higher than Goku's, but Goku always had the advantage of turning into Super Saiyan 3; it has been mentioned by several opinions here that in order to reach Super Saiyan 3, one needs motivation. Actually, Super Saiyan 3 is different from the other Super Saiyan transformations due to the fact that the only thing needed is to use one's full energy, ki, power and potential to reach it. In other words, it's a full-powered Saiyan in its maximum potential, that's why it was easier for Goku to achieve and maintain Super Saiyan 3 while in Other World. Due to that limitation, I believe that Vegeta could reach Super Saiyan 3, albeit with a minimal chance of sucess of doing it... Vegeta MorningVegeta - San Talk ContribVegeta Morning 18:42, April 6, 2010 (UTC)

@SSJ4Lewich. wot Veget-San said is true, vegeta did in fact reach ss2 through harsh training & babidi just unleashed vegeta's evil potential. another evidence of this is goku stating in his fight with vegeta, "wow, u have really outdone yorself in the past 7 years" which goes to show dat vegeta did in fact reach the form himself and allowed babidi to control him in order to unleash his evil potential.TheDarkPrinceReturns! 20:03, April 6, 2010 (UTC)

This does not prove it as they did not fight while Vegeta was not under the Majin control, so how was Goku to know what power Vegeta had, since he was in otherworld  SSJ4 Lewich  talk  contribs  20:10, April 6, 2010 (UTC)

yes they did fight while vegeta was in his majin form. it was the whole point y vegeta let babidi control him. goku did come back from other world in the babidi saga. did u by any chance miss the saga?TheDarkPrinceReturns! 20:19, April 6, 2010 (UTC)

No but it is you that is missing the point I am making, and Goku did not return during the Babidi Saga, he returned during the Great Saiyaman Saga. You thought that I ment that they did not have a fight when I said "Goku was in otherworld" but you misunderstood. Read it again. Also Vegeta only used this form while being a Majin, so I would say that he only unlocked the Super Saiyan 2 form while being Majin Vegeta, since we do not see this form before hand, in my opinion, it took Babid's magic for Vegeta to turn to a Super Saiyan 2  SSJ4 Lewich  talk  contribs  20:27, April 6, 2010 (UTC)

yes i know goku returned in the saiyaman saga but wot i meant to say was he was on earth during the babidi saga. yes i know he used the form whilst he was a majin but it does not mean dat it was the first time he used it. there was no circumstance before this time dat wud cause vegeta to use dis form as the show skipped 7 years on after cell games. also, as Vegeta-San stated, daizenshu states dat vegeta reached the form thru harsh training meaning dat it is official. babidi did unlock sum of vegeta's 'evil' potential but it was not ss2. like i also mentioned before goku says "wow, u have really outdone yorself in the past 7 years" which cud mean dat he actually sensed vegeta's strenght earlier and realised he has reached ss2 before babidi controlled him. if babidi gave vegeta the ability to use ss2 form, then goku wud not state dat.TheDarkPrinceReturns! 22:32, April 6, 2010 (UTC)

You do make some valid points, however there is alot of "Could be's" as there is in my points of view. However I disagree when you say there was no opportunity to show his Super Saiyan 2 ability as there is the battle with Pui Pui on Babidi's ship  SSJ4 Lewich  talk  contribs  22:36, April 6, 2010 (UTC)

pui pui? r u serious, dats just like saying a person needing a gun in order to kill a bug, wen they can just squash it, lol. vegeta did not even break a sweat against him, so going super saiyan wud of been a total waste. had he faced dabura, then dat wud of been a great oppurtunity. TheDarkPrinceReturns! 22:44, April 6, 2010 (UTC)

Vegeta became SSJ2 by training, but he was a weak one.Magin powers exaggerated on his SSJ2 powers.Otherwise he was weaker than Cell in those 7 years--------Ucell

no he was not weaker than cell. if u actually watch the babidi saga, u will see dat wen vegeta sees gohan fighting dabura, he notices dat gohan had become weak in the past 7 yrs and says dat if he fought dabura himself, then he wud of easily beaten him. after the fight wen vegeta yells at gohan for not finishing dabura off, gohan himself states dat if vegeta fought dabura, then vegeta wud of beaten him. also earlier on, wen vegeta and goku both sense dabura's power, they realise it is the same as cells power level and even after knowing dis, they were both not scared to fight him, meaning dat vegeta had obviously grown way stronger than cell over the yrs. he was already strong as it is, but he only needed the majin, in order to awake the evil within him so he cud fight goku without any weaknesses like emotions holding him back. TheDarkPrinceReturns! 19:53, April 7, 2010 (UTC)

They stated that Dabura was equal to Perfect Cell, not Super Perfect Cell.-------------------Ucell

if i may recall, they never said perfect cell nether did they say super perfect cell. they had simply reffered to him as cell'. but either way, wen they mentioned dabura was equal to cell, they were not scared of him meaning dat they had grown WAY stronger than him in the past 7 years. besides, super perfect cell aint dat strong, he was defeated by ss2 teen gohan and as we know, vegeta and kakarot had both grown stronger than him during the years.Majin-VegetaTheDarkPrinceReturns!1123983673 ajinVegeta 11:50, April 8, 2010 (UTC)

Vegeta ssj3

Ssj3 Vegeta in Raging Blast

Should be possible

As far as i'm concerned the sayians were designed as a warrior race, with ever increasing power through training and near death experiences. Vegeta should be perfectly capable of reaching through to Super Sayian 3, since Goku said reaching a higher power comes through need and not always through wanting it. Perhaps vegeta should fight someone stronger than him but treat it as if fighting a real life enemy, the fight stops only when vegeta is near death or until he is able to transform, either way when he recovers he should be much stronger than before and eventually be strong enough to force the transformation. Unless his Gene's wont allow it or whether you need to be pure good or bad, I Dont know although vegeta is a mix of good and bad and was still able to reach the first ssj form, If the manga or cartoons haven't stated anything about restrictions like this, I dont see why he couldn't keep increasing his power level. Then again maybe he needs different kinds of training.

Coudnt have but.........

Yeah vegeta probably couldnt have become ssj3 But, vegeta in early DBZ was very smart but when he became a SSJ he wasnt as smart. But did you ever wonder that if vegeta were still smart he would have beaten goku in a battle but not with strength but his intellect would have thought of a trick or something. (P.S. Huge Fan so Please respond Prince Zarbon=)

fool vegeta is the best

its possible if he tried

if you think about, goku showed goten and trunks how to do it and

yes they are fused when they do it but vegeta is stronger then themi beleive(*edited* .. are you stupid ? Gotenks in ssj3 form was coompletly stronger than vegeta. even as Majin Vegeta .. he couldn't beat Buu in his fat form.

I think he meant base form Gotenks,Anyway Vegeta<Base GotenksK1lp1k0nna (talk) 16:20, October 16, 2012 (UTC)K1lp1k0nna

and i think if you put them up agianst each other vegeta would be stronger

so i think vegeta could reach ssj3 if he tried to

I'm sure Vegeta has more than enough energy to transform from his training over the years. DBGT shows that his body can handle the transformation also (assuming that if he can handle SSJ4 he can handle SSJ3). I imagine Vegeta chooses not to transform because it uses too much energy and he has not yet been able to use SSJ3 effectively. Ultimately this is all a debate and just a matter of opinion

(im a diff guy)I agree, Vegita could, but we all seem to be forgeting something. Vegita could only get ssj4 with bulmas machine and ssj3 isnt to far away from ssj4 in Super Saiyan Power Levels, so i think if he tried hard with a machine like the one that made him ssj4 he could posibly be a ssj3

Vegeta can turn into super saiyan 3 but why when he can turn into super saiyan 4........Bulma machine isnt the reason he changed.. all the machine did was compensate for his lack of a tail. and the bluntz waves was the same thing goku recieved from Earth but he had a tail....

Trunten 3900

I doubt he could've done it completely on his own. He always had some sort of help or drive to do so. Here are some examples:

  • When Vegeta went ssj1 he said he was pure evil, so he did need a pure heart to transform.(when he joined the z-fighters, he lost his hatred and drive to kill Goku, thus making him impure).
  • When he went ssj2 he needed a power boost and a drive(such as pure hatred and evil) from Babidi(he also made his heart PURE evil again), and once he attained the form with Babidi's help, he could attain the form at any time.
  • When he went ssj4, he needed Bulma's machine to do it(not even Baby could do it himself), and after the form wore off; Goku asked why he didn't transform again, and he shouted shutup!, implying that he could transform (even after attaining the form) without the Blutz Wave Generator.
  • And without Goku around, Vegeta lost any reason left to train, and like Gohan became weaker and more mellowed.

So that shows that Vegeta only transformed once with the help of others, doesn't have a pure enough heart to transform, only got powerful enough to access the other forms with the boost from past transformations(that he didn't even attain himself) so he probably isn't powerful enough to do so, and he has too much pride to to ask for Goku's help in attaining it.

But if all of this is somehow untrue, then I can see why he wouldn't want to use ssj3. It consumes way to much power be practical in fighting(it would only be useful in a split-second, life-or-death situation).

Vegeta is my second favorite character, but I just don't think he ccan transform.

super saiyan 3 vegeta

I am a huge vegeta fan and i think vegeta could change if he want to as said on the last espodie of dbz when we fight karrato we are going to need a hold planet. mean know that goku could change in to a ssj3 he was still ready to fight him mean sometime in those 14 years vegeta went ssj3 but never had the change to use it and he also say you're training ubb to be earth next portecter but you have a diffent movtive. Meaning vegeta was prepare to fight goku but never got change because all they fight in the past ended in a draw. so to me there is no cear cut winner. puls if you think about without vegeta goku would not beat kid buu, omga shonnron, or gohan wouldn't beat cell without him. Goku and Vegeta will forever be even both are cear cut super saiyan 1,and 2 but with vegeta he never had a chance to go ssj3 and the ssj4 goku got help just like vegeta he had the elder kai put out his tail just as vegeta had bulma help grow his tail so both had help reaching ssj4. and like every one said goku only was able to go ssj3 because his time in other world and check this out every time vegeta die he never got to keep his body. 13:53, August 25, 2011 (UTC) BY vegeta jr

Most Likely

Alright let me clear some points first:

  • First off Vegeta was an ssj2 before he fought Goku and before Babidi "cursed" him. Vegeta just wanted to be the way he was before, a cold ruthless warrior living on strength alone uninhibeted by petty emotions. Vegeta just wanted to be able to fight Goku and this was in his mind the best way to do it plus he wanted to fight without any inhibitations. Also this is just a theory but Vegeta probally picked up on how Goku fights harder when hes angry or hes fighting a villain that only he can beat aka Freiza/Saiyan saga Vegeta/etc. This added to Vegeta's motivation as to anger Goku, Vegeta killed all those people at the world tournament just to convince Goku to fight.
  • Second Goku says Daburas around Cells level, Hes probally referring to the last Cell hes seen aka Perfect Cell not super perfect Cell. That being said while watching him fight goku says that Dabura is tougher then he thought due to the magic. However this is not enough to make Goku or Vegeta nervous or afraid of him so they could both probally beat him. Also the fact that Gohan could hold his own even though he got weaker implies that Dabura wasnt as strong as super perfect Cell.
  • And finnally Vegeta could go ssj3. All these people saying Vegeta doesnt care about being stronger then Goku are crazy. Vegeta always wanted to surpass Goku, I can gurantee that Vegeta trained all those years to be able to stand up to Goku. At the end of DBZ when Goku says that theres someone strong Bulma even says that Goku and Vegeta are the strongest and that no one can even challenge them. After the Buu saga Gohan had made a considerable gap between himself and Goku and an even larger gap with Vegeta. For Goku to have closed the gap isnt surprising but youre trying to tell me that Vegeta closed the gap without ever reaching ssj3? Jpark0015 15:58, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

I just want to point out that Goku DID see Cell in his Super Perfect Form... Father-Son Kamehameha ring a bell? Goku new exactly how strong Cell was when Cell was killed. The comparison between Dabura and Cell is a comparison between Dabura and Super Perfect Cell. (This only strengthens you stance.) Cooper31684 02:02, February 1, 2012 (UTC) *someone else* i would like to point out, Goku only inspired Gohan to bring out his full power, he passed on encouragement. he was only elping telepathically

mastering super saiyan 3

I think vegeta could go to a super saiyan 3. The reason he never did because it difficult to hold such power that his body can't handle. Like goku, he couldn't hold super saiyan 3 that long because his body wasn't strong enough. In GT goku's little body could not hold super saiyan 3 as well. Super saiyan 3 transformation consume a lot of ki energy. Goku had a hard time with this transformation. One can say the same with vegeta.

First we have to look of what Vegeta needs to transform to SSJ3.

Generally, its 2 things:

  • Ki. Vegeta needs to have a pre-determined amount of ki to transform.
  • Something to kick in the transformation, on SSJ3 is basically nothing, since it doesnt need an emotional upheaval (SSJ, SSJ2 and maybe SSJ4 on Goku's case) or an external motivator (like the blutz machine for Vegeta's SSJ4). But maybe a few days of training, since is probably the most difficult transformation to control and mantain.

So basically, the only thing that Vegeta needs to transform into SSJ3 is a good amount of ki to perform and control the transformation, just look at Gotenks. They only see Goku transform to SSJ3 once and on a space of a few weeks, the 2 kids manage to transform to SSJ3 form. Vegeta with his whole experience, cant?

And I honestly dont think Ki is a problem either. Since Vegeta was able to control and maintain the SSJ4 form (this on DBGT ofc), this mean that he had A LOT of Ki.. he also beat Baby/Gohan (Gohan been more powerful than a SSJ3 Goku back in DBZ).

So yeah, I think Vegeta CAN transform into SSJ3 easily, at least by the end of GT saga. The reasons that he did not on the anime can be; 1. Vegeta is a smart fighter, maybe the smartest between all the Z-Fighters. He knows the drawbacks that a SSJ3 form brings, so maybe on the few times that he really fought for real, he maybe, realize that SSJ3 was not better than SSJ2 (taking into consideration that the enemy is stronger than the SSJ3 form and its drawbacks)? 2. The producers just forgot to put him? Or think that will not add nothing? DB is full of this small holes, one more is not a surprise!

Yes, he can!

First, we have to understand what SSJ3 transformation needs. Unlike any other SSJ transformation, is basically raw power, they dont need an emotional kick or blutz rays, just pure and simple, power/ki. Goku says that (he actually says by hard training, but training is basically a mean to increase the ki so..) and Gotenks proves it, since he/them only saw Goku transform once and by that and a few days mastering the transformation, they did transform on SSJ3 quite easily.

So, ki. By the end of DBZ, Vegeta probably didnt have the enormous amount of ki to transform neither control the transformation, but, in between DBZ and DBGT he DID trained, and I think he did get stronger enough to be able to transform and control the SSJ3. And btw, just because he says to Goku that he will not be obsessed with trying to be stronger than Goku anymore and/or because Goku isnt such present anymore doesnt mean that Vegeta stopped training, neither that he take it easier one training, after all he still is Vegeta, the proud Prince of the Sayans. And btw, he did ask to Goten on one of the first DBGT episodes if he did take easy on the training with a reproval tone, or better, a Vegeta tone xD, so I dont think he will be that hypocrite.

BUT, if even after that people is still skeptical, lets analize after evil Shenrons's saga. He do transform into SSJ4. Yes, he needs the blutz machine, but its mainly to grown his tail back and to use it as a substitute to the moon (or other celestial corpse that emits blutz waves), because sayajins needs blutz waves to transform into the great ape, which is necessary to achieve the SSJ4. Is Goku that is kinda anormal, not Vegeta imo (Vegeta evens says when Goku was kinda confuse about the Vegeta's SSJ4 :P). And even with that, Vegeta still needs a incredibly ki to control the transformation, his body would explode if Vegeta wasnt stronger enough to take the SSJ4 power, which he uses as its full potential, he would never transform into the golden great ape as well if he didnt have such ki. And even, who knows if he do need the machine sometime in the future? After all, he only transform into SSJ4 only a few times, maybe after some training, he could transform alone? We all know that new SSJ forms are difficult to transform/control at first, but after some training it turns easier.

And btw, we are at DB wiki, how people dont use information of this site? I have see some people saying that he doesnt transform into SSJ2 by normal means (using the argument that he only achieve SSJ2 by the help of Babidi), well, he kinda does:

"It is sometimes debated when he first achieved this form. In the manga, there are quite a few hints he achieved it before he became Majin Vegeta, with practically none to the contrary, as Vegeta only states Goku to be stronger than Gohan once he, too transforms into Super Saiyan 2, holding complete confidence in his superiority over Gohan prior to becoming Majin Vegeta, and transforms into this state on his own free will from the normal Super Saiyan, long after he became Majin Vegeta."

"Both the Daizenshuu and the new Super Exciting Guide character profiles state that Vegeta was awakened to his Super Saiyan 2 form by means of extensive training in between the Cell and Buu arcs, which assures that Vegeta did indeed achieve this transformation through training." [not when he was in his "Majin form"]

Even without of that, he would still needs to be strong enough to achieve the SSJ2, the Majin phase was only a kick (like the destruction of Android 16 to Gohan) if he actually didnt achieve the SSJ2 form before that. We all know that he did transform into SSJ by 'normal' means, and I think I did clarify that he kinda does on SSJ4 as well. So what is the problem with his SSJ3 form then? It is the most simple of all the 4. Just because he didnt never transform into it, doesnt mean that he cant. The reasons to why he didnt transform are various, so I dont need to quote them here; but this includes the fact that he didnt need it, that producers forgot or never though about it, or even if in the cirscunstances the SSJ2 form was always a better choice.

And btw, Gohan (on the end of DBZ and beyond) can also transform into SSJ3, as well as Gogeta and Vegito; since it only depends on raw power. "Ultimate" Gohan is stronger than both Goku SSJ3 and Gotenks SSJ3, Vegito and Gogeta as well, so the SSJ3 transformation would be no problem to them.

So yeah, clear? :), oh, and sorry for any grammar errors, I didnt speak english xD

ssj3 vegeta

i thnk vegeta became a ss3 bt was holdng t back . . he was confident of defeating majin buu when he cudnt in his ss2 form

Its all about energy.

Vegeta could acheive it possibly if he was dead and had his body. Goku acheived it because he was dead and DID have his body. When in the otherworld Goku had almost limitless energy due to not having the strain of a living body. Plus Goku had 7years of training. Vegeta did probably not acheive this form because had no body when dead. And when Vegeta was alive he probably did train but did not obtain the SSj3 form due to the strain of a living body.

There is one thing a saiyan keeps, HIS PRIIIIIDDDDDEEEEEE!!!!!!!! - Vegeta

Confusing levels of S.S.

Actually the whole Super Saiyan 'level' thing gets kind of confusing really.

Super Saiyan, a saiyan's powers are magnified in this form, by exactly how much is never specified(an important bit of info to note).

Super Saiyan 2, This is normally a LOT more powerful than a Super Saiyan 1. Evidenced by Gohan getting his but handed to him by Cell then ascending to SS2 and beating Cell like it was nothing.

Super Saiyan 3 (The main focus of this article). Normally more powerful than SS2. Goku uses this form to fight Mahin Buu, later stating that he could have beaten MB but did not because he wanted the others to do it because he would not always be around to protect the Earth. Gotenks also uses SS3 to fight an evoilved form of Buu and manages to fight him to pretty much a standstill. Although Buu may have not been using his full power.

Super saiyan 4 Sorry, but I actually have not watched DBGT yet, i dont have any info on SS4.

Mystic: Gohan apparently skips everything after SS2 and reaches a level called "Mystic", although that may have just been an unofficial term, it was still the peak of his power and was not enough to defeat Buu.

Legendary: Brolly is shown to be SS1 and SS2 but surpasses all previous known levels of SS power (SS2 up to that point) and is at a level called "Legendary", although that may be due to the amount of his power at his level. He was not powerful enough to defeat a kamehameha from "Mystic" Gohan SS goten and SS2 (dead body) Goku.

Actually Gohan wasnt Mystic when he faced Broly as an adult. If he was Mystic he wouldnt need his ssj1 an ssj2K1lp1k0nna 09:50, June 14, 2012 (UTC)K1lp1k0nna

Fusion: There are 2 types of fusion Potara and Fusion dance.

Potara: Using 2 magic earings SS1 Goku and SS1 Vegeta fuse together and become stronger than "Mystic" Gohan, who was stronger than a SS2.

Dance: Old Kai states flat out that dance creates a stronger fusion than the earings. Using the Dance technique Goten and Trunks fuse at their base levels and become Gotenks, who then becomes a SS1 and then , skipping 2, a SS3.

Each of the base SS forms has its weakness (energy cost), but this weaknes seems to be compensated for with time, as evidenced by the ease at which a Saiyan can transfrom into the next level and the ease at which they can hold it.

So basically (sorry for the long ramble there) Vegeta could have attained SS3, but he probably wanted to pass it.

actually vegeta never went ssj 3 in the dragonball series. ssj3 isnt one of the ssj 4 requirements

If a fusion of two half-Saiyans can reach Super Saiyan 3, then I believe Vegeta, an Elite who is a pure blooded Saiyan, can also reach it. The only form Vegeta (or any other Saiyan for that matter) could never reach is the Legendary Super Saiyan form. Other than that...they are more than capable, ESPECIALLY Vegeta. SuperGogeta91 03:38, June 14, 2012 (UTC)

SSJ is x50. SSJ2 is x500. SSJ3 is x1,500. SSJ4 is x5,000. SSJ5 if it exists is x10,000. Mystic is anything but about x100,000. LSSJ is x250. Potara is add the two powers and then x14,000. Fusion Dance is add powers and x1,000. Potara can fuse tow any levels of power and the Dance can only fuse even powers. Plus, Fusion Dance is much weaker than Potara. Don't forget Great Ape, Golden Great Ape, ASSJ and USSJ, which are x10, x800, x100 and x150, respectively. Oh and SSJ Gohan wasn't trying agisnt Cell, though Cell was only at 16% Max power. Majin Buu against Goku was only at 40% of his Max though. >_< Goku porbably thought he could win because Buu was giving off fake reading of his Max. Super Buu aginst Gotenks was actually losing but he was only at 50%, yes. Oh and Gohan wasn't Mystic agianst Broly and Goku was only SSJ not SSJ2.

Well, remember that Goku says that SSJ3 is Technically impossible. He achieved it because he was dead in otherworld.

It's true. I may not be a huge Vegeta fan, but I believe it's possible, or maybe he just didn't WANT to. All of the Super Saiyan forms have drawbacks, if you look close enough. What's the point of achieving it of training to achieve it if you simply don't want to achieve it? But I do think that Vegeta HAS need help for some of his forms, whereas Goku did not. Remember who got Super Saiyan 1 first. I'm a major dbz fan, and I think that personlly it could go either way. Either Vegeta could do it and he didn't want to, or he simply couldn't.

P.S. I always thought it was because Vegeta would look stupid in ssj3 :).

It's possible

SSJ2 Goku and SSJ2 Vegeta are exactly even. To have attained SSJ3, Goku would've had to master SSJ3 and reach it's peak. However, Vegeta and Goku are exactly the same as SSJ2 and Vegeta can stay in the SSJ2 form as long as Goku can, hinting that his energy reserves are pretty large. It's possible he has the energy to go SSJ3 but not the training. Like others have said, Goku went SSJ2 and 3 while he was dead, in reality, it should've have taken him much longer. Seeing as how the pure-blooded Saiyans have more troube with transformations than the hybrids do for whatever reason, it makes sense Vegeta just wasn't able to do it because of the fact that he trained on Earth. Besides, him seeing Goku go SSJ3 won't get him mad and turn SSJ3 himself, because he would have to train more to do it (SSJ3 doesn't come through intense anger like the previous two transformations). Also, I heard somewhere that Akira Toriyama didn't do it because he started to dislike Vegeta, but I don't know if that's true. He could have done it in the 10 year gap between Buu Saga and End of Z, because he claims that he and Goku would need a planet for a battlefield, but if he was stuck at SSJ2, Goku would domination him, but of course, Akira didn't really show it, so that's very unlikely. That's just what I think. Princevegeta66 17:24, July 12, 2012 (UTC)

Vegeta isn't even with Goku...Majin Vegeta is stronger than him barely and Goku is a good deal more powerful than Vegeta in his normal state. Also, if they were even they wouldn't just be even in SSJ2 they would aslo be even in SSJ and Base forms. Proof of Goku being better is aginst Kid Buu, SSJ2 Vegeta got destroyed while SSJ2 Goku was holding his own, although Kid Buu was likely just playing around, Goku still did better.

SupremeBooyah (talk) 18:35, October 16, 2012 (UTC)

It's because of the gene's.

The reason Vegeta could'nt go SSJ3 is because Goku is a Honour Gene. Honour Gene's can go SSJ3. However, Vegeta wasn't a Honour, instead he is a Pride Gene. Pride Gene's can only go SSJ, ASSJ, USSJ, SSJ2, and SSJ4.

vegeta is garbage....several times he fight somebody he says im the prince of sayians and gets his ass kicked look at the broly movie took him like 20 seconds to get knocked out

this argument fails .

First, Vegeta is capable to reach ss3 . Second, because the ending of DBZ, GT's story line was written by someone else. the only reason why Vegeta reached ss4 is because the writer made a very predictable ending.Thought Both saiyans have an urge to fight, Goku puts his purposes to protecting the universe, Vegeta on the other hand .. he has no purpose anymore since he has settled down on Earth. If he had the same point as increaseing and training himself as Goku, i believe his powers would have grown ............................. falalalallalalalalallalalalalalalalala the writer of GT should have thought about what he was doing .. why does Gero look like Myuu, why does the Sigma Force have poses like Ginyu Force, why did Vegeta lose his natural hair ? "Full blooded saiyans, never change their hair since the day they are born" and morst definatley, where has the black star dragon balls come from ????? and how would Pilaf know about them ? the series was alright but, poit is, vegeta could have reached ss3 because, as said in "GT" a saiyan's true form is a ssj4, so ssj3 could have been reached by vegeta :) also to correct a few people above about gotenks . he reached ssj3 because of combined powers, if a force was so great in DBZ, i think fusion with goku would have been a thought. and increasseing powers to ssj3 to fight would have been a seond choice

A (hopefully) different opinion.

Okay, so we've seen two beings ever achieve Super Saiyan 3, correct? They are Goku and Gotenks.

Vegeta is as strong as Goku in Base (or they wouldn't be able to fuse), so it's not that he's too weak to handle SSJ3. My theory is that the issue is with actually unlocking the SSJ3 transformation.

Goku is stronger he just supresses himself when doing the Fusion Dance. It doesn't matter for Potara, but if Trunks suppressed for Goten it would make sense if Goku did for Vegeta

SupremeBooyah (talk) 18:29, October 16, 2012 (UTC)

Both Goku and Gotenks achieved SSJ3 through supernatural means.

Goku was dead, with a body that could not feel hunger and had unlimited "life". As we know, Goku struggled greatly to sustain SSJ3 when he was alive, both when he fought Kid Buu and in GT. But when he was dead, he was able to sustain SSJ3 much easier, the only side effect being that it cut into the time he had left on Earth for his one day visit (which obviously wasn't a problem in Other World).

Gotenks was a fused being who achieved SSJ3. He was barely an identity, merely an amalgamation of two powerful children. Gotenks is similar to Goku's dead self in that fusions, like dead people, are much harder to kill. Many times, fusions will take on a great deal of damage, but instead of dying, they merely defuse. Another similarity to Goku's dead self is that Gotenks apparently did not require much effort to sustain SSJ3, but it did cut into the time he had left as a fusion, similar to how Goku's form cut into the time he had on Earth. In a way, SSJ3 drains "life force".

Another thing that has been observed throughout the series is that it is much harder to transform the first time the transformation is used. Upon achievement, it is easier to master the form, but every time a character unlocks a new one, it is much more painful than later uses (of course, this may just be for plot reasons).

Goku had already achieved and most likely practiced with SSJ3 before he fought Kid Buu, and yet the form was still a strain. He fought Majin Buu with SSJ3 and it diminished his time on Earth. Gotenks fought in SSJ3 against Super Buu and his fusion time dropped. And this was after they all achieved the form already.

Therefore, there are several issues with Vegeta turning SSJ3, though one is considerably more speculative. First, it is that it requires something that was not available to Vegeta to actually achieve the SSJ3 form. It is some sort of supernatural quality that Goku and Gotenks shared in being either dead or fused (a connection underlined by the commonality that it cost both SSJ3s time to sustain the form). Another is that it must have been very painful to actually achieve SSJ3 for both Goku and Gotenks, and both had some sort of supernatural life force abetting them, and yet it still cost them to sustain SSJ3 as they got used to it. Thus it would be quite difficult for Vegeta to achieve SSJ3, even if he had more than enough power.

TL;DR, Goku and Gotenks are the only other SSJ3s shown, and they both achieved it through supernatural means (being dead or being fused). Though this cut into the time they had (either on Earth or to stay fused), they both had something that Vegeta did not. This, plus the tremendous strain SSJ3 takes, most likely means that though Vegeta had the power to turn SSJ3 (as he was equal to Goku in Base due to being able to fuse), he could not achieve the form itself. vegeta apesar de no anime não usar a transformação, veceu todas as batalhas disputas entre ele e goku,

majin vegeta ssj2 é a nivel de goku ssj3, vegeta ssj3 humilharia goku ssj3

Same with USSJ. He noticed the limitations/drawbacks.

In the android saga, Trunks mentioned that Vegeta knew about the USSJ form and didn't use it because he knew the limitations/drawbacks. Like Trunks said after Cell told him about the flaws of USSJ: "So that's why dad chose not to transform this way. He knew this would happen." It even states on the USSJ page that Vegeta's tactical mindset led him to avoid using USSJ, as did Goku. Now looking at SSJ3 from otherworld, Vegeta probably took note of the IMMENSE power drain (so much that it borrowed against Goku's time on Earth) on a dead body (much less a living one). During the fight against Kid Buu, Vegeta also saw that Goku's living body couldn't handle the strain (literally leaving him with little to no ki), so he chose not to go SSJ3 (even though it would've helped a bit) because of this. Vegeta may be cocky, but fighting-wise he isn't stupid (at least to me).

I think vegeta could go ssj3 because he and goku were equal when they were ssj2. vegeta was even more poverfull. so if goku was able vegeta should be able to do it too

Just my thoughts

Well Gotenks skips SSJ2 and went from SSJ3, so i think after going SSJ4 for the first time, Vegeta decided to skip SSJ3 in favor of the stonger SSJ4. That's just what I think, I could be totally wrong. :3

Yes.. It was Possible...

The reason why Vegeta did not attain the SSj 3 form means just 1 thing, he did not train enough after the Kid Buu saga, he now knew that he was inferior to Goku in terms of battle skill, and that makes sense.. if he had trained the way he did before (after the cell games or even after Frieza saga) he could have become a SSj 3 no doubt, maybe if Goku teleported him to the other world, vegeta could have attained it easily as he was perfect with ssj 2 form. Personally i think DBGT completely sucked ! it just downgraded the likes of Gohan, Vegeta and even Trunks and Goten.. i think it was a serious mistake to make GT.

The reason why Vegeta didn't attain Super Saiyan 3 is because it is much easier to achieve it while dead. Vegeta was never able to train while dead (since he wasnt allowed to have his body). Gotenks could keep SS3 easier than Goku while alive because he is a fusion, and therefore more powerful.

Sandubadear (talk) 18:49, January 10, 2013 (UTC)

Vegeta ss3 totally possible

Vegeta could totally do it, the boys did it in fused and the fusion of the boys in ss3 is about the same as ss2, if piccolo didn't distroy the space time room I think vegeta could have a chance, the other world training is a valid point but is useless because a 7 and 8 yr old goten and trunks could transform into ss3, if vegetas pride wasn't in the way him and his mustache could totally transform into SS3 an he would beat goku

Vegetta did accomplished his SSJ3 form but it's never shown at the anime....there's an existing databook about their power levels and it is shown that both of them reached SSJ4 although Vegetta can only achieve it via Blitz Wave....a saiyan can't possibly become SSJ4 without enough power level >.> so if I were you peepz we should all just accept the fact that Goku and Vegetta are even in terms of power.. Goku only manage to transform to his SSJ4 form bec. he got his tail unlike with Vegetta. The tail is a requisite for a saiyan for them to transcend to SSJ4. even the author explains it on one of his blogs.

Vegeta can reach SSJ3

A lot of people on here don't think Vegeta can reach SSJ3 all because Goku did it in the otherworld which makes it impossible in the real world. Well that's just wrong, it would be a lot harder to achieve in the real world yes but all it really means is that Vegeta would have to train a lot harder harder than he ever has before. Also by actually training in his real body he would quite likely become even more powerful than Goku and be able to handle the stress of SSJ3 better as well. Goku had a really rough time in the SSJ3 form when he was alive again because he wasn't use to it in that aspect and it drained his power quicker and also put stress on his life force as well which he never had to compensate for in the otherworld since he was dead so he had no life force to worry about. Training in the otherworld just allowed Goku to reach SSJ3 quicker because his body there didn't get as stressed from all the training. Vegeta can reach it with enough drive and training he could do it Also people keep bringing up DBGT, I'm sorry but you can not include anything from GT since it was made and written by someone else and was made for no other reason than to pull more money in from the DB franchise. So anything that happens in GT can't be used when arguing about if Vegeta can reach SSJ3 form same deal for most of the movies there are only I think 5 movies that are actually truly connected to the DBZ timeline all the others are not, so using examples from the broly movies don't fit into the whole arguement of if Vegeta can reach SSJ3. Vegeta is a pure blooded saiyan he can with out a doubt reach SSJ3 hell even if he dies in the process all it will do is send him to the otherwolrd where he can now keep his body which just means he would end up training there till he got wished back. So yeah he can do it. He is stronger than ssj3 goku in his EPIC ssj2 mode and BE EPIC AS HELL

Warning if any GT haters are reading this close your eyes lets begin. When Baby took control over Vegeta their power levels got combined in a way so Baby Vegeta is as strong as SSJ, Super Baby SSJ2, Super Baby 2 SSJ3 so Vegeta has actually reached the power of Super Saiyan 3 just like when Ginyu took over Goku's body Baby didnt know how to properly use Vegeta's powers he just transform into i guess you could call it Super Tuffle

Missing a factor

Sure Vegeta had the potential to reach the SS3 level, of course he did. But we are forgetting a factor here. The writter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is much said and assumed among fans that Vegeta is one of Toriyama's lesser favourite characters, which explains why Vegeta is commonly dealt the dud hand. Toriyama must not have had much interest in making Vegeta SS3 because that would sort of take the wind away from Goku, where this is a series where Goku is the hero, Goku is in the spotlight. If Vegeta was seen as a powerful being that had the potential to save the day, that could take away from Goku's image as the series hero. Ans unfortunately, this was a series that was heavily driven by fan opinion. If the fans in Japan didn't like an idea, Toriyama would bend over backwards just to fix it to the fans desires. And the fans desires always had Goku as the one and only hero. If Toriyama shifted the focus of power to Vegeta, then he may have lost many readers in Japan. As anyone with a half a brain knows, it doesn't matter what anyone elses opinions are around the world, the Japanese are the ones who need to be kept happy for the series to be made. So to do that, the focus had to stay on Goku, sacrificing Vegeta's shot at SS3.

well actily vegeta did turn super saiyan 3 but could never do it agin in one of the movies

Balanced Form

The reason is simple. When Goku reached ASSJ/USSJ1 and then USSJ/USSJ2 he realised that bulking up and forcing his power to increase isn't the best way to increase power level. It's the same with SSJ3. SSJ3 is IMO a forced increase in power "after attainment of SSJ2". It produces a ton of strain and is, to put it simply, an unbalanced form. SSJ has better balance of power, speed, strength and stamina. SSJ2/Base Form are worse in balance. Great Ape/SSJ3 completely disturb this balance. This is why I believe Goku used his SSJ form to battle Bills after SSJG form's time ran out.

Gohan's Power

Not to beat the issue to deah, but I'm pretty sure that you can be stronger than a Super Saiyan 3 in a Super Saiyan 2 form.  You can at least be stronger than a Super Saiyan 2 in a Super Saiyan 1 stage.  Remember after the seven years of peace after Cell died? When Gohan went Super Saiyan 2 in the tournament, Vegeta commented on how this form was weaker than when he fought Cell, and Gohan was only in Super Saiyan 1 at that point.  Of course, Gohan didn't constantly train like Goku and Vegeta, so his power level could have decreased, but I'm not sure if that's a thing.

In any case, it's entirely possible that Vegeta reached Super Saiyan 3 between the end of Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT.  He very rarely reaches the same strength as Goku at the same time Goku achieves it, and since Goku had JUST reached Super Saiyan 3 at the end of Z, I give Vegeta a couple months, a year at most, before he achieves it.  I've also heard debate the Super Majin Vegeta is essentially his equivalent of Super Saiyan 3, since he goes into Second Stage and then gets a power boost. Still weaker than Goku, but much closer.

i dont think so vegeta fought to kill but goku fought to push his own limits so i dont think vegeta would be able to turn ssj3

Vegeta as SSJ3 would be pretty cool.

Vegeta does'nt need the Otherworld

Alot of people say Vegeta was not able to go ssj3 because he didnt have training in the otherworld. That to me is a false statement because they're obviuosly forgeting about Gotenks who went ssj3 with the lack of actual training like Goku in the Otherworld. So the reason Vegeta never went ssj3 will forever be a mystery unless the creator ,Akira Toriyama decides to inform the community.

I think its just one of the many plotholes within Dragonball Z. Cause Vegeta should've went SS3. Gohan as well. i would assume one of the main reasons Vegeta never went to SS3 is cause of the "10 years of Peace" or "Modest living" after Buu. Vegeta and Gohan had no reason to train and then when GT came up they just let Goku fight every battle. I just think its a plothole.—This unsigned comment was made by SonJohn (talkcontribs) Please sign your posts with ~~~~ next time!

Lately I have really gotten into dbz again, and I have been researching a lot of stuff again. I do want to say that vegeta does tell goku something like no matter what he has done how hard he has trained goku is stronger than him blah blah blah. Secondly I want to say vegeta might have been able to if he the training goku had but he didn't. Plain and simple he didn't go super sayain 3 in dbz or gt so logically we have to assume he can't. By the way I hate when people try to say how smart vegeta is because the only time he is smarter is when yet first meet. The rest of the series is vegeta trying to kill everyone by himself even though everyone says don't try it. He was smart, smarter than goku at first but then got too arrogant. —This unsigned comment was made by Ibman55 (talkcontribs) Please sign your posts with ~~~~ next time!

Vegeta True Power

Vegeta is yes indeed strong but I want to disagree with all of ya'll. Here are some real reliable facts.

1. It is possible to make your base form or SSJ lower than 3 to be stronger than SSJ3 or 4 according to Akira Toriyama.

2. Vegeta will never be able to go into 3 because he is not nearly as strong in power determination and his pride makes him weak. However, he can exceed the power of SSJ3 using his own power.

3. Goku, during all his traning is light years ahead of Vegeta because he was not able to train when he died, and also that he didn't have the training conditions like Goku did.
