Opening Quotes[]

Ahem. Anyone there? If there is anyone here, I would like to ask you to take a look at this page: Batman

The opening quote: "I am the night! I am vengeance! I AM BATMAN!"

I wanted to ask someone to make a similar style of opening quotes on the DB Wiki as well. We can use their signature quotes, like in Goku's case, his "I am the hope of the universe. I am the answer to all living things that cry out for peace. I am protector of the innocent. I am the light in the darkness. I am truth. Ally to good! Nightmare to you!" speech, and in Vegeta's case: "The sleeper has awakened. I am the Prince of all Saiyans once again!" And in Piccolo's case: "The Piccolo you knew is gone! I am the Namek!".

And similar opening quotes at the beginning of the rest of the characters' pages. Note that I'm referring only to the opening quotes. Not the one's that someone has decided to put at the end of the pages. Anyone agrees? --Neos 22:53, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

I copied their quote template and adjusted its color a bit to better match this wiki's color scheme.

"Something like this suit your needs?"

Feel free to adjust it further if you think it will benefit. (Template:Quote) -- Nonoitall talk contr 23:18, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
I think these sort of headers and footers (excluding navbox templates) are distracting. Even the directory headers and related character template footers I see in random articles are almost useless, as "directories" and related characters are either linked to in parameters of the Infobox or somewhere within the article's prose. I think before implementing sketchy, new templates, the wiki's main goal should be to step up its current quality (or relative lack thereof). I'm not sure what defines a "signature" line anyways. Most prominent characters in the series have been known to say some fairly inciteful things. To me, a signature quote is something that the character is known for saying, rather than something they are known to have said. For example, Gohan's justice speech during his Great Saiyaman poses is something synonymous of the Great Saiyaman persona. But there isn't a separate article for the alias, and this quote isn't defining of Gohan per se. Simply put, I disagree with this idea (but I would support a memorable quotes section to be used in character articles where appropriate), but maybe it's just me. Storm 23:26, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
Thanks Nonoitall. And to Storm: a signature line defines, just like you said, what the character is known for saying, like in Vegito's case: Call me Super Vegito!
Saiyaman is known for giving his speech, but since there isn't a seperate article, we can write the quote at the opening of the sub-article. If you scroll down the Batman page again, you'll get what I mean. --Neos 07:27, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
Thinking about it I guess I'm open to seeing it put to use, but some of the less obvious quotes than the ones you've mentioned (for example, with Goku's massive appearance count in the series, there should be some more in-depth analysis done, to see if anything more defining or prominent can be used to represent the character. I suppose it could work though. Storm 07:55, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

To me, a quote at the top is like a garnish, and if used the right way, I think they add a nice touch to the articles. All the same, like Storm said, our priority does need to be improving the existing material. Throwing garnish into an uncooked can of SpaghettiOs isn't going to turn them into a high-class restaurant dinner, and likewise, a pretty quote won't turn a poorly worded article into an acceptable one. -- Nonoitall talk contr 10:32, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

There can be several meanings of 'poorly worded'. If you mean 'bad grammar', then send me some poorly worded articles. I hate bad grammar and love to fix things like that. --Neos 13:00, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
Bad grammar and spelling, and some are just awkwardly worded. Most of the episode summaries are in pretty desperate need of some TLC, so if you feel like tackling some of them that would be awesome. I'd do it, but I usually don't have time to do much other than maintenance. -- Nonoitall talk contr 10:39, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
I looked at the episodes, they really need some TLC. Do we have an Episode Template? --Neos 14:57, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
Never mind. I'll create one myself. I am allowed to do that, right? --Neos 18:35, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
