Okay personally I believe Gohan is stronger, but someone else will say Goku is. This argument is only using DBZ. Please be sure to justify your statement

Its difficult to compare them as their powers have been changing in every saga -
Saiyan Saga - Goku (though Gohan erupted against Raditz but couldnt sustain it)
Frieza Saga - Goku
Android Saga - Vegeta (Goku had suffered from heart virus)
Cell Saga - Gohan
Majin Buu Saga - Mystic Gohan
After the Majin Buu Saga - Gohan doesnt train anymore, Goku has constantly trained and probably surpassed Mystic Gohan's strength.

It's hard to say but I think overall goku is stronger but they're pretty close. Goku is stronger in some sagas and in other sagas gohan is stronger. Ssj2 teen gohan against cell was stronger. Mystic gohan was the strongest not fused character in dbz. Goku went from super saiyan 1 during cell saga and then super saiyan 3 while in other world. The question is, if gohan would've been just as strong or not, or maybe even stronger, if he continued his training. So I think they're pretty close but in the majority of the series, goku was stronger. This is the Mystic Gohan vs SSJ3 Goku argument? It's already been settled. Gohan would completely stomp on SSJ3 Goku. No doubt. ~Final~

Depends what Gohan and Goku You're Talking About[]
Goku and Gohan's power levels are constantly changing throughout the series, so which ones are your talking about?
- Saiyan Saga: Goku's power level is 8,000, whereas Gohan's is a mere 981. So, obviously, Goku wins in the Saiyan Saga hands down, no contest.
- Frieza Saga: Gohan was only a match for Frieza when he got angry, but even with his anger, couldn't really do anything to his final form. However, Goku as a Super Saiyan far outclasses Frieza, and in turn Gohan. Even without Super Saiyan, Goku's power level overshadows Gohans. So Goku wins here.
- Cell Saga: After leaving the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, Gohan gauged his power to Goku's during his fight with Cell. Gohan said he thought nothing of the battle, for he believed Goku wasn't even using max power. This means Gohan is stronger than Goku, and that's only in Super Saiyan. In Super Saiyan 2, Gohan is at least equal to Super Perfect Cell. So Gohan wins here.
- Buu Saga: Goku said that he and Vegeta couldn't win against Super Buu. However, Gohan easily defeats him once having his potential unlocked. So Gohan wins here.
- Battle of Gods: Gohan was taken out by Bills with a single kick to the abdomen, but Goku could fight evenly with Bills' 70% power. So Goku wins here.
As you can tell, Gohan and Goku both dominate the playing field throughout the series: Goku the first half, and Gohan the second half of the series. However, if you count Battle of Gods, then Goku is more powerful. In the end, it really depends on what time period it is when seeing who is stronger between Goku and Gohan.
