[[Category:{{{1}}}|Is Captain Ginyu in his original body in the Freiza Saga or did he steal it from someone else]]

It would make sense that he stole it, since i remember Jeice called it his "signature move", which presumably means he'd used it before in battle, although it does seem strange that he wouldn't know he had to get used to a new body. then again, he could have previously switched with someone of his own species. that's also advantageous because it wouldn't throw off the Ginyu force poses. hmmmm.

If he was in a different body, he wouldn't appear in that one in Other World. --DARK 23:32, July 11, 2011 (UTC)

I don't think so.[]

I don't think Captain Ginyu is in his original body because in Budokai Tenkaichi 3 in his profile it is that his original body is unknown.

Canon level goes:

Manga>Anime>Data Books>Games

Anime contradicted the game, so we go with the anime. --DARK 00:01, July 12, 2011 (UTC)

Its probably not his original body.[]

He steals bodies. Its his thing. @ DARK - he only appears with that body in hell in the anime, not in the manga. And like you said, manga > anime. Tokeupdude 00:07, July 12, 2011 (UTC)

That just proves my point though. There's nothing in the manga to contradict it. Maybe he has, but he never stated that. His general ignorance to knowing he needs to adjust to bodies seems odd as well. --DARK 00:17, July 12, 2011 (UTC)

being a dick again[]

1. He originally had a weak body so once he swapped with the one seen on Namek, he didn't notice it wasn't at full potential since it was still much stronger than his previous body.

2. The body we see is his true form and in the past he has only swapped with weaker opponents such as presidents and officials, and then swapped back. That way he can conduct political espionage as well as command the enemy's army strategically. Goku was the first body he chose for its physical superiority, so he didn't realize the drawbacks until then. Janemba4eva 02:18, July 12, 2011 (UTC)

Especially like #2. That adds a whole new depth to his character. Someone needs to write a fan fic about him now (never thought I'd say that about Ginyu). --DARK 02:57, July 12, 2011 (UTC)

Trunten 3900[]

I think Ginyu must have switched bodies with a stronger person(perhapse of the same species), because when Goku said Ginyu wouldn't be able to use his power because he hadn't adjusted, Ginyu said that such an obvious drawback wouldn't be a problem implying that he had switched with a powerful opponent in the past(for practice at least), or he was just gloting to make Goku feel worse. But to know he had a power like that he must have used accidentaly in the past(im sure it isn't a natural ability). Now, in hell they showed him in his purple body, but that was probably because the anime writers needed Ginyu to be recognisable, or he would just look like some random lizard in hell claiming to be Ginyu.

Note: Ginyu said he was a mutant so I don't think he has a native species.

Another theory[]

Throughout the whole Frieza arc everyone seems to be surprised how the Z Fighters are able to change their power level and stuff, being displayed as an feature only inhabitants of Earth seem to posess so far.

This logically implies everyone elses power level is constant. Maybe Ginyu switched bodies before but just didnt know how to increase his power level and was therefore unable to use Gokus potential.

I just assumed   this was Goku keeping secrets. This wasn't the only time Goku hid his true power during the series. I think Goku was  implying something similair to what you are thinking/saying. But I don't think   that should count as cannon or well  apply to Ginyus' capabilities. Xveriun (talk) 10:44, February 10, 2013 (UTC)    Xveriun

simple solution[]

It is reasonable to believe that Captain Ginyu could not use or was at least unaware of the kaio-ken technique. This would explain how he had used his technique and not understood how he could not power up to Goku's level. It seems very clear by all other observations that thisis a technique. That captain Ginyu. Has used many times before.

ginyu[]

Ginyu could power up not having a constant power level as implied in an above post making the simple solution. The most probable answer.
