Forum Do you think Mr. Toriyama should continue the series?

YES!!!!! definitely. I would love to see more dragon ball action and I would love to see Kakarot in SSJ5 and Gohan in SSJ4.... maybe even Gotenks too :) Kakarot810 06:25, 16 August 2009 (UTC)Kakarot810

Maybe[]

I'm not very familiar with the fan fiction of DBAF, but it seems like this would be a difficult concept to build on. The fun of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, for me at least, is much more than seeing Goku train, go Super Saiyan, conquer evil, etc. I really enjoy the teamwork factor, and the development of reformed villains like Yamcha, Piccolo, and many others. DBGT, especially the first half, centers around only a few of the characters, including Pan who is basically brand new to the series. If Goku comes back 100 years later, all we'll have is more new characters, and Pan, who is now an old woman. Unless a miracle can bring back Gohan, Tien, Vegeta and the whole gang, I would really rather stick to reboots like DBK. -- Kamehameha.10X.Ka.me.ha.me.ha.....talk.....contrib. 07:18, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

There is no such thing as AF[]

There is no such thing as DBAF, (it's fan-fiction). What you meant to say was should Akira continue with a new series (it wouldn't be called AF, it would be called something else. But if he were to continue, it probably wouldn't be as good, so better not. - PrinceZarbon (talk) 17:42, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

I know it doesn't exist. What I'm trying to imply here is if he should make it official, as in he would actually work with the fans who are creating DBAF. therefore resulting in a whole new saga with his as well as DB lover's imaginations.112.202.231.111 09:38, 21 August 2009 (UTC)Kakarot810

For the hundreth time,There IS NO AF,AF STAND FOR APRIL FOOLS.IT WAS A JOKE 5 YTEARS AGO.AND NOBODY IS MAKING A SERIES.AF WILL NEVER EXIST

Nobody wants anything like that to exist for a reason. Because Toriyama doesn't need to "work with the fans." The fans don't make a series, he does. And since when have you seen an anime/manga corroborating with fans...? However, everyone would like to see some new stuff from Toriyama himself. - PrinceZarbon (talk) 13:12, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

I mostly agree. Toriyama wouldn't do something new if it was strictly according to fanfiction. However, I do believe that there are many fans of the theoretical DBAF story. I think that some proactive flash artist should make a few episodes and put them on Newgrounds, or a similar site. -- Kamehameha.10X.Ka.me.ha.me.ha.....talk.....contrib. 20:32, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Backstory arcs[]

I Actually wanna see a sorta...Bardock Special thing But with other people, showing their backstories. I Mean, I Wanna see Vegeta's Life Before he met goku.and Tiens, also i wanna see what he did after he left...And i wanna see Master Roshi's Life before Goku. They would make Interesting stories.as well as clear up some stuff.like tiens 3rd eye... --Team Midgars Silver Sinspawn 02:27, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

This is what we'd call a prequel story. I'd be interested in this moreso as well, except I'd prefer to see a backstory for the villains/antagonists from the bardock special more than anything. such as: Frieza, Zarbon, Dodoria and how they conquered hundreds of planets. that would make a gorgeous movie in my opinion. - PrinceZarbon (talk) 02:30, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

I wanna See the Prequel stories from the following people:

  • Vegeta
  • Trunks
  • Tienshinhan
  • Frieza
  • King Cold (We know So little about him..)
  • Korin
  • Roshi
  • Dr. Gero (so we can actually write articles about androids 1-7 and 9-12)
  • King Piccolo

I Think they'd make good stories,as well as give us more info on any characters we know nothing about.and introduce some new ones --Team Midgars Silver Sinspawn 05:08, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Of the people you mentioned, Vegeta and Trunks have already been abused in the series as primary characters and there's already much known about them. The rest I agree deserve to have their own prequel stories. I definitely disagree about Vegeta and Trunks though (Trunks even has his own TV special). - PrinceZarbon (talk) 05:26, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Yah, a Roshi story could be pretty awesome, I'd love to see that! -- Kamehameha.10X.Ka.me.ha.me.ha.....talk.....contrib. 05:32, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

My list of backgrounds for prequels would be:

  • Frieza, King Cold, Zarbon, Dodoria, and Cui (so we see how the North quadrant was ruled and dominated by his clan)
  • Dr. Gero and Android 19 (so we see how Dr. Gero decided to construct himself as an android with the aid of 19)
  • Pui Pui, Yakon, and Dabura (so we see how the most powerful warriors from each quadrant came about)
  • Garlic Junior, Garlic, the Spice Boys, and the Makyan warriors (so we see Garlic and how he was defeated)
  • Nappa, Raditz, and King Vegeta (so we see Nappa and Raditz rise to Elite status in King Vegeta's royal fleet)
  • Babidi and Bibidi (so we see how buu was created and how the father-son bond between Bibidi and Babidi came about)
  • Cooler, Salza, Neiz, and Doore (so we see him acquire his planets and form alliances)
  • Dr. Myuu, General Rilldo, Baby, the Luud Cult and the Tuffles (so we see the Tuffle genocide)
  • Supreme Kai, Kibito, King Kai, Elder Kai, Grand Kai, and the rest of the kais (so we see them as intergalactic rulers)
  • Bojack, Zangya, Bido, Bujin, and Kogu (so we know how they were sealed up, etc.)

That would pretty much be my idea of good prequels. (and the villains need to be portrayed in a heroic light, how their anger gets to them and how they become what they are from fear, obsession, vengeance, greed, or all of the above. More dimension would be added to their character construct and they would portray much emotion, so the audience would feel for them in a tragic sense. It would be beautiful.) - PrinceZarbon (talk) 05:39, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

The Trunks part wasnt meant to be in there, that was meant to be Olibu...Not sure how the confusion came up... Uhh....OH,AND TURLES Basically Every movie character.... --Team Midgars Silver Sinspawn 06:54, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Well maybe some background arcs about:

  • Frieza's family (So you know where they came from and how they get there power)
  • Android #17 and #18 (So you know who they were and how they became Androids)
  • Dr. Gero (So you know Android 1-7 9-12 and how he became android)
  • Red Ribbon Army (So you know how that was started)
  • Master Roshi, Master Shen, Master Mutaito, King Piccolo (Just fun to go way back)
  • And more, maybe all characters.

--Croon 15:22, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

Yeah I would like to seeall of those... but I have a few more I would like to add like

  • The Nameless Namek
  • The Original Super Saiyan
  • The Original Saiyan (although nothing of this was mentioned in the series, I would like to see the origins of the saiyan race)
  • Hercule
  • Krillin (before he came to Kamesennin)
  • Guru
  • Scratch
  • Ox King
  • Oolong and Pu'ar ( when they were classmates)
  • Yamcha (before he met Kakarot and Bulma)
  • Emperor Pilaf
  • Shenlong/Shenron and Porunga
  • Mr. Popo
  • The former guadians of the earth
  • Nail
  • King Vegeta
  • Vegeta (while working for frieza)
  • Namu
  • Mrs. Brief
  • Ran Fan
  • Bacterian
  • Gilan
  • Grandpa Gohan
  • Yajirobe
  • The Ginyu Force Members (before they each became a member of the Ginyu Force)
  • Frieza's Mother
  • Kakarot's Mother
  • Turtle (before he met Kamesennin)
  • Vegeta's mother
  • The Farmer (the one that shot at Raditz and Dr. Gero)
  • The Yarbozecs
  • Zarbon, Dodoria and Cui (before they met Frieza)112.202.239.10 08:12, 31 August 2009 (UTC)Kakarot810

I would like to see Broly's story. How he grew up and his destruction of planets. I'd want prequels for almost every movie character, plus most of the above said ones. Heck, if a new series is made, make it all prequels. - RenbuItsuQiRinKai (talk) 21:43, November 1, 2009 (UTC)

the fact that Launch was literally forgotten about by Toriyama saddens me deeply, although I don't really know how her story could be expanded on, on either side of her appearance in the timeline.

the pasts of some characters I believe are better to remain a mystery, namely 17 and 18, but others, such as Vegeta and Nappa, felt like they could use a movie or two to fully flesh out their characters some more.

No[]

I think the series is great as it is and ended very well. A movie now and then would be good, but as far as a new series, no.--Jeffman13 20:39, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

I agree with this notion, but I'd like to hear from you about the prequel stories I stated above. What's your thought on those I've come up with. - PrinceZarbon (talk) 20:56, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
Those are good ideas, I never imagined a Prequel series. They're awesome! Especially the Frieza one. You should pitch those to Toriyama or Toei! They would great movies or OVAs. I have one! Bulma's story on how she began searching for the Dragon Balls. It would be interesting. But nothing new should take place after 'A Hero's Legacy--Jeffman13 21:35, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
You have no idea as to how much I agree with you in terms of making stuff happening after Hero's Legacy. I'd so greatly love to see some prequels though, where the villains would gain spin-offs and personal development, where the viewer would better understand their psychology and feel for them emotionally. - PrinceZarbon (talk) 21:39, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
Yeah! If we make the viewer feel sympathy toward, a villain, it will give the series a lot of depth. I still think a Bulma prequel will be a good idea.--Jeffman13 22:48, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
Yes, it would. As for Bulma, honestly, I would welcome that more than more super saiyan crap any day of the week. I'd like to have a Bulma spinoff about how she develops the radar, etc. and how her father becomes capsule corp. chief, etc. - PrinceZarbon (talk) 23:17, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
Yeah! It would deffidently be more original than any of the movies! You could even tie in Launch too and reveal why she has split personalities that change when she sneezes! I think a piece about Bulma and Launch's origins is a great idea! Maybe Krillin and Yamcha too!--Jeffman13 23:37, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

That'd be freakin' awesome, I mean to have a series of prequels. I'd personally like to see a cooler story, even though he's not cannon--MacCooler

Just a Big Cooler/King cold/ Frieza Prequel would kick ass --Silver Sinspawn 08:05, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

I'd love to see a Cold family prequel where they aren't represented as villains but as characters who do bad thing...hard to explain........

Yeah I agree prequels would be awesome112.202.239.10 07:39, 31 August 2009 (UTC)kakarot810

Maybe[]

Well, what he did wrong is that the powerlevels grow to fast. And I mean. It is not fun when you think about if bad guys had come 1 year earlier the earth would have been destroyed. Althought it would have been cool to have Super Saiyan 5+. The story would suck! Croon 15:16, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

Missing parts of the series[]

If Dragonball did have a new series it should be showing the parts of the series that had gaps of years such as the 3 years between the Trunks and Android Sagas and the 10 years between the end of DBZ and the Start of GT. It would also be a good chance to show new villains prehaps some new members of Frieza's family or prehaps Majins like Buu as shown in Dragonball online.

Sure[]

It's been over a decade since Akira finished Dragon Ball Z. If there was going to be another series, it would probably be made by Toei Animation. In that case the storyline would start from where A Hero's Legacy left off, with Goku Jr. as the main protagonist. Personally I wouldn't like to see anyone over Super Saiyan 2, because the heros eventually get so powerful that you can't tell the difference. --Caraway 05:12, November 8, 2009 (UTC)

yes[]

Ive read in an interview akira toriyama did on a website which is fruastrated cause i cant find it know that he doesnt count DBGT as cannon, which is logical seeing as he had little to no hand in the creation in GT and you can tell that he wasnt involved with its really obvisous..akira also stated that he wanted to end Z and frieza..so with that being said if he did start dragonball again it might start right after Z but thats just what i want i geuss lol

I would love to see...[]

...The wedding of Vegeta & Bulma. I think that it would be an excellent episode/special to see. It also would finally answer the question that's been bugging me for years...who was Vegeta's best man? On tiop of this a couple of movies aren't that bad but as a whole, I think it's best left where it is. I always thought GT was disastorous and I don't even consider it canon.
