Dragon Ball

Polsat

From 1995 to 1996 Polsat negotiated on broadcasting Dragon Ball in Poland but all of this ended with failure.

RTL7

The Dragon Ball anime were aired in French dub with Polish voiceover by Zbigniew Dobrzański. The version was made by Saga Studio. It was aired in RTL7 from September 1999. All episodes were broadcast.

It was also aired in TVN7 in 2002 (RTL7 changed name to TVN7).

Although the French version has already been censored, Polish version has been even more censored. Scenes that were even inappropriate for young viewers were removed, including scenes like in The Nimbus Cloud of Roshi and The Kamehameha Wave episodes. The most famous is the scene removal in the We Are the Five Warriors episode that caused a plot hole.

Name changes

Dragon Ball Z

Dragon Ball Z anime were aired in Poland. This was also French dub with voiceover by Zbigniew Dobrzański (Episode 1) and Zbigniew Raciborski (Episode 2 - 291). Some people speculate that this two voiceover artist are the same person. The version was made by Saga Studio. It was aired in RTL7 from May 2000.

It was also aired in TVN7 in 2002.

Dragon Ball GT

RTL7

Like other series Dragon Ball GT anime were aired in RTL7 from December 2000 with voiceover by Zbigniew Raciborski. The version was made by Saga Studio. In episode 1-34 French dub was used and from episode 35 Japanese dub was used. All versions were bought from AB Distribution.

It was also aired in TVN7 in 2002.

Name changes

After buying the Japanese version, it was decided to leave most of the names as they were in the French version. Some names have been changed. For example: Kosmiczni Wojownicy to Saiyans.

AXN

In 2011, Animax acquired the rights to broadcast Dragon Ball GT in Central and Eastern Europe (including Poland). New version which was based on Japanese dub was aired in AXN Spin from January 11, 2012 to September 30, 2013 with voiceover by Andrzej Gajda. The script was taken from the American version. Between episode 41 and 42, A Heros Legacy TV special was aired.

It was also aired in AXN Sci-FI from December 28, 2012 to September 8, 2013.

Dragon Ball Z Kai

The Dragon Ball Z Kai anime were aired in Japanese dub with Polish voiceover by Andrzej Gajda. The script was taken from the American version. It was aired in AXN from November 8, 2012 to April 1, 2013. Majin Buu Saga was not aired.

Planet Manga

Three of DBZ movies were launched on VHS. They were made by Planet Manga and sold by Ultima. This was French version with voiceover from RTL7.

ITI

ITI Home Video released two other movies with Polish dub.

Controversy

In 2002 in the TVN's program Uwaga! blamed Dragon Ball manga for spreading pornography among children. TVN ordered the end of airings of the Dragon Ball anime series on TVN7.
