Dr. Arinsu (ドクター・アリンス Dokutā Arinsu) is a Glind from the Demon Realm, and the elder sister of Shin and Degesu.
She is one of the two secondary antagonists of the Daima Saga.
Concept and creation[]
Arinsu's name appears to come from a Japanese way of saying "to exist" that was used by Edo era harlots, linking her name to those of Degesu, Zamasu and Gowasu. She was designed by Akira Toriyama.
Appearance[]
Dr. Arinsu's full appearance
Dr. Arinsu is a fairly tall woman of slender yet curvaceous frame. She has long white hair that she styles to be upwards, with a single bang similar to the Angels and has a similar pale pink complexion like her siblings. She wears light makeup that consists of a dark purple lipstick, maroon eyeliners with styled eyelashes, and black nails. Arinsu wears a dark pink shirred bandeau dress that has a split skirt from the front with a red lining. She ties a red sash around her upper dress and wears a light grey skirt underneath her upper dress with a pair of magenta opera fingerless gloves and a dark red cape which extends as a collar, with a black underside and is attached to a purple jewel with a golden bezel. She also wears a golden choker, as well as a pair of white high heel boots with grey soles.
Personality[]
Dr. Arinsu is very power-hungry, wishing to usurp Gomah as Supreme Demon King in hopes of strengthening the Demon Realm to the point of making it superior to the rest of Universe 7. Unlike Degesu, her ambition is backed by her penchant for wit and manipulation. She is sassy yet charming when talking to others in order to further her research.
Arinsu is an expert manipulator, playing to Gomah's paranoia of the Z Fighters in order to keep her research funds and set the events of Daima in motion, and using Glorio as a spy proxy to have Goku defeat the Tamagami and gather the Dragon Balls to save herself the trouble of doing it personally. She is highly intelligent, having planned the creation of new Pure Majin with Marba and aware of the latter being Majin Buu's progenitor. Despite her wish to exert the Demon Realm's superiority, Arinsu is enthusiastic about the outside world, curious enough to sneak out of the Demon Realm behind everyone's back.
In addition to having a scheming personality, Arinsu seems to be quite pragmatic and adaptable. When Marba provides two Majins that are unable to provide much power (one being an unnamed creation and the other being Majin Kuu), she decides to keep Majin Kuu around without writing him or Marba off as useless. When Gomah empowered with the Evil Third Eye interrupts Duu and Goku's fight, she opts to side with the heroes as they are her best bet to dethrone the Supreme Demon King, and when they seem to be unable to overpower him, she attempts to wish for the power to defeat Gomah herself, rather than her earlier stated wish. She is also not without kindness, as Glorio defying her is not met with any retaliation beyond being reprimanded and firing him.
Despite clashing beliefs with Shin, she and her brother still appear to be on amicable speaking terms.
Biography[]
Background[]
Dr. Arinsu is an ambitious witch who plans to usurp the position of Supreme Demon King. To this end, she plots to use varying means of gaining power, including seizing the Demon Realm Dragon Balls and creating a powerful Majin to act as her enforcer.[2]
Dr. Arinsu on Earth
To achieve the latter, she conspires with Marba, the creator of Majin Buu, but all attempts are failures, with the most recent being unable to defeat Arinsu herself. To strengthen the final product, Dr. Arinsu left the Demon Realm and heads to the planet Earth after discovering Majin Buu's presence. On May 7, Age 774, she witnessed Buu regenerating himself after withstanding Majin Vegeta's Final Explosion and retrieved one of his fragments for herself.[3][2]
At some point, Dr. Arinsu hired Glorio to work for her, using him as a proxy to try and manipulate Goku into retrieving the Demon Realm Dragon Balls for her.[4]

Daima Saga[]
Dr. Arinsu with Gomah and Degesu
Dr. Arinsu appears at the Demon's King Palace to confirm her research is going splendidly and congratulate Gomah on becoming the new Supreme Demon King. Degesu realizes Arinsu was watching from somewhere being that she was curious since Dabura wouldn't usually go to the outside world. Gomah agrees and tells Arinsu that since Dabura's dead, her funding is gone too. However, Arinsu states that Gomah will continue to fund her research otherwise the warriors who defeated Majin Buu may invade Demon Realm. She then leaves as a paranoid Gomah and Degesu scheme to use Earth's Dragon Balls to turn the Dragon Team into children which Arinsu agrees with behind them, scaring the both of them and leaves again.[3]
Dr. Arinsu secretly keeps contact with Glorio over the course of his journey with Goku[4] and is pleasantly surprised when Glorio informs her that Goku secured one of the Demon Realm Dragon Balls after defeating Tamagami Number Three.
Dr. Arinsu outside Marba's home
Later, she goes to conspire with Marba who took Buu's fragment to concoct a potion meant to create a powerful Majin. Marba mentions the fragment improved the potion's flavor, so she and Arinsu decide to give it a test run. Looking at Marba's Majin mark, Arinsu reveals she knows Marba was the one who originally created Majin Buu per Bibidi's request but promises not to tell anyone. Marba explains that because Buu was so powerful it was extremely difficult to control him leading him to go on a rampage and cause many races to flee the Demon Realm whilst also leaving a trail of casualties. To avoid such an event, Marba instructs Arinsu to spit some of her saliva into the pot to create a link between her and the soon to be Majin so that she can have a better control over its actions, to which she complied.[2]
When Marba finishes creating Majin Kuu, Arinsu immediately gives him the order of defeating Tamagami Number One and retrieving his Dragon Ball to see if he is at least capable of doing that otherwise the whole exercise was for naught.[5] After Kuu fails to get the Dragon Ball,[6] Arinsu has Marba create a more powerful Majin named Majin Duu who this time defeats Tamagami Number One and acquires the One-Star Ball.[7][8]
Dr. Arinsu is contacted by Glorio again when he is in the Second Demon World, informing her that the second Dragon Ball has been obtained, meaning she now has the complete set.[9] While looking out the window, Arinsu notices that the barrier around the Demon Realm Tunnel has disappeared and thinks to herself that everything is going according to plan.[10][11]
Glorio is hesitant to make Dr. Arinsu's wish
When the Z Fighters arrive to battle Tamagami Number One they notice its Dragon Ball has gone. Dr. Arinsu arrives at the square with Majin Duu and Majin Kuu, the latter holding the final Dragon Ball.[12] Arinsu proposes that they battle for all three Dragon Balls but it's interrupted by Gomah who has acquired the Evil Third Eye leading to everyone teaming up to defeat him.[13] Meanwhile, Dr. Arinsu contacts Glorio and asks him to gather the three Dragon Balls and bring them to her. After doing so, Glorio reluctantly summons the dragon and Dr. Arinsu pushes Glorio into making the wish for her, to become the next Supreme King with the greatest magic power, and after further hesitation, Glorio begins to make his wish[14] to restore the Z Fighters back to their rightful ages as Dr. Arinsu watches on confused.
Glorio apologizes to Dr. Arinsu for betraying her while she reminds him of the kindness that she granted him before firing him and telling him to leave. Glorio thanks Dr. Arinsu for all that she had done and races off towards the others. While watching the battle, Dr. Arinsu has a sudden revelation and orders Majin Kuu to retrieve the Book of Magic Items which contains the Evil Third Eye's weakness and tells everyone on how to defeat Gomah.[15] After Gomah is defeated and sealed away with Degesu, Arinsu ponders who should be the next Supreme Demon King. Shin suggests Arinsu but she declines due to her lack of magical ability. However, she is chosen to become the Vice-Supreme Demon King by the newly appointed Supreme Demon King Majin Kuu.[16]
Power[]
Arinsu was able to defeat the first of the artificial Majin she had Marba create for her, thus deeming it not worthwhile. Marba indicates that Arinsu would be unable to defeat Gomah by herself. Given she was present during Dabura's era, it's very likely that Arinsu was incapable of defeating him, either.
