"Demon Realm Porunga" is not this article's official English name, it is used as there is currently no official translation or suitable name.

"Brave soul who has gathered the Dragon Balls...Come, speak your wish. I shall grant any wish!"
— Demon Realm Porunga as he arrives in "Awakening"

Demon Realm Porunga (魔界のポルンガ Makai no Porunga)[1] is the wish-granting dragon from the Demon Realm.

Appearance[]

The Porunga of the Demon Realm dragon looks virtually identical to Namek's Porunga, albeit it is red in color with yellow eyes as well as a blue section separating the red and beige parts of his body. He is also far larger than his Namekian counterpart as Super Giant-Form Gomah is only around the size of his hand.

Personality[]

As with most wish-granting Eternal Dragons, Demon Realm Porunga is a neutral figure who grants any wish within his power regardless of the intent of the wish itself or the nature of his summoner.

Like Shenron and Dark Shenron, Porunga is one of the few Eternal Dragons who actively defends themselves and the wish-granting process.

Biography[]

Daima Saga[]

Demon Realm Porunga blocks Third Eye Gomah's attack

Porunga stopping Gomah

Porunga is summoned by Glorio in the midst of battle with Gomah. The latter is enraged by his appearance and tries to stop Porunga from granting a wish, but Porunga easily blocks his attack and flicks him away. Afterwards, Glorio speaks in the Namekian Language in order to have a wish granted, to which Porunga complies[2] and turns the Dragon Team back to their original ages.[3]

Power[]

Apart from its wish-granting capacities, Demon Realm Porunga is shown to possess remarkable strength. When Gomah, who is empowered by the Evil Third Eye and even able to overpower Super Saiyan 4 Mini Goku, tried to attack the dragon, it casually deflected his punch with a finger before flicking him away, sending him flying.

Techniques and Special Abilities[]

  • Wish Granting - As an Eternal Dragon, Porunga can grant wishes that do not exceed his creator's power.
  • Headshot - Porunga flicks his opponent's forehead, knocking them away with little effort.

Granted Wishes[]

Trivia[]

  • When Porunga blocks Gomah's attack, he holds his hand up in an "OK" hand gesture before flicking Gomah away, much like how the Porunga on Namek does when granting wishes.
  • When summoned, Demon Realm Porunga refers to the summoner as a "brave warrior", echoing the tradition in many RPGs where the protagonist is congratulated by a figure of authority for completing their journey before receiving a reward.
  • Demon Realm Porunga is the first dragon in the franchise to not cause a weather phenomenon when being summoned as the surrounding environment of the First Demon World stays the same with no dark clouds being formed amidst the Dragon's presence.
  • Demon Realm Porunga bears similarities to Ultimate Shenron in that both are a red variation of a pre-existing dragon that is powered up.
