"Isn't Conton City huge? It used to be known as Toki Toki City and had a completely different layout. Then we started having an uptick in changes to history... The number of Time Patrollers increased, too. So, things got pretty cramped around that time. Though, there's more to it than just population increases... Either way, the city needed to be rebuilt as a result. We asked the old man and the others what they wanted to see in the new city, and before we knew it, the city had grown to this size! It's tough to get from place to place? Yes, that's why we created the Transfer Shop! ...Er, Trunks did. There are various facilities here, you know. Be sure to take advantage of if needed!"
Chronoa

Conton City (コントン都 Konton-to), formerly known as Toki Toki City is an exclusive city featured in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. It was originally known as Toki Toki City up until Age 850 but changed in Age 851. It also appears in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 The Manga.

Overview[]

MysterousCity(DBXV)

Toki Toki City before being reconstructed into Conton City

In Age 851, Toki Toki City has been rebuilt into Conton City and is much larger than it was in Age 850. Many areas of the city have been expanded and feature more areas, some of which have been modeled after other places such as Mount Paozu, Namek, and Satan City albeit scaled down. Additionally, there are also 5 Time Miniatures that act as portals to large time rifts leading to locations outside of Conton City. Due to the size of Conton City, Time Patrollers such as the new Future Warrior can use vehicles to get around or teleport around the city using Transfer Shop Robots. Time Patrollers can also use Flight to fly around in Conton City, though they are required to possesses a License in order to do so, as flying around without one inside Conton City is against the law. Additionally, according to the opening Time Patroller recruitment video, it is also illegal to fire energy attacks within city limits. Flying Licenses are awarded to Time Patrollers in recognition of them attaining elite status. The Future Warrior achieves this by defeating Frieza and Cooler in the main story and is awarded their license by Chronoa who states it means they are no longer considered an apprentice. This indicates all the Time Patrollers flying over Conton City have achieved Elite status and attained their license.

Conton City Dragon

The giant Dragon accidentally created by Chronoa when she used her power to animate the Dragon Ball Pedestal's dragon statue

According to Saria, there was a rumor going on around town as people had begun wondering just how powerful divine beings such as Chronoa and Elder Kai truly were. Once Elder Kai and Chronoa heard the rumor they decided to give a demonstration of their power and showed people how mighty and powerful they truly were. One of the things Chronoa did was imbue her strength into the dragon on the Dragon Ball Pedestal, causing it to grow in size and begin to move as if it were alive. As Toki Toki City was already overrun with time rifts, the dragon's appearance was the final straw that pushed Toki Toki City over the edge, resulting in its destruction. Chronoa decided it would be faster to create a new city over the ruins of the old one and thus Conton City was born, though one of the Namekian farmers in the Ajisa District mentions occasionally finding remnants of the original city while tending his fields. The animated dragon statue created by Chronoa can be also seen floating in the skies North of Conton City. Chronoa also mentions that the construction of Conton City also helped deal with Toki Toki City's overpopulation as the Time Patrol had got too big for all the new recruits hired due to the uptick in history changes, so the destruction was actually a blessing in disguise as it allowed them to make the larger Conton City though she omits her own role in accidentally causing its destruction, presumably out of embarrassment. She states that Elder Kai and the others provided input on the new city which contributed to its growth, though the increase size made it harder to get around quickly so Xeno Trunks created the Travel Shop Robots that can teleport people around the city. Additionally, Chronoa and Elder Kai used their combined power to create an invisible barrier around both the Time Nest and Conton City in response to Demigra's attack on Toki Toki City to ensure that Conton City or the Time Nest would be protected from further incursions.

"This is Conton City seems like such a nice place. Far to good for a bunch of worms like you... I'm sure I could put it to much better use. But before I get started... you all need to die."
— Frieza during his army's siege of Conton City in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2

After the Version 1.04.00 Update, the Frieza Force may invade during the Frieza Siege Event, where Conton City is invaded by Frieza in Age 852 after his ship travels there via a wormhole. The Warrior and the rest of the Time Patrol must defend the city by defeating Frieza's henchman during the event.

Conton City is much larger and less urban than Toki Toki City. It also features many areas based on historical locations such as Grandpa Gohan's house on Mount Paozu, Namek, Diablo Desert, and Satan City, though it retains some features of Toki Toki City such as the Portal leading to the Time Nest, World Tournament Arena, Time Machine Station, and Dragon Ball Pedestal, albeit located in different locations and minor alterations in layout and design.

At the Academy, Elder Kai offers lessons in the form of Challenge Quests in which the Future Warrior will be instructed in combat techniques by their currently selected Instructor. Standing next to Elder Kai is the Advancement Test Desk robot who runs the school's Advancement Tests which allow the Warrior to advance to higher classes which in turn will unlock new training quests. Upon selecting an Instructor to be their Master, the Warrior can find them standing in front of the school yard's fountain. Instructors can be found all over Conton City and the Future Warrior can train under them by taking their Initiation Test which will unlock the ability to recruit them as Instructors and train under them. The Future Warrior can train under other instructors even if they are not currently selected as their Master. Instructors may also come and assist the Warrior if they are having trouble during quests.

Mushroom District[]

Like the original Plaza of Time, it is located near the portal leading to the Time Nest and World Martial Arts Tournament Arena. The Time Machine Station is located on the eastern part of the plaza. Ace's statue briefly disappears from Conton City after Towa travels back in time to Age 850 to kill Shenron to prevent Future Trunks from making the wish that summons Ace to Toki Toki City, though it returns after the Future Warrior manages to prevent it and forces Towa to flee. After completing the main story and becoming the Conton City Hero, Ace's statue will be replaced by with one of the Future Warrior. However, after an update, the statue will periodically change from the Conton City Hero to another patroller represent different online Time Patrollers who have accomplished certain feats like most helpful.

Overlooking the Plaza is the Dragon Ball Pedestal where Time Patrollers can summon Shenron after collecting all seven Dragon Balls. Its design is identical to the original pedestal found in Toki Toki City that was destroyed by that pedestal's dragon statue that was animated by Chronoa along with most of the city. However, it is adorned with an identical golden dragon statue.

Hero Colosseum[]

A new feature added to the Plaza by the 1.08.00 Update where Time Patrollers can take part in special battles using collectible figurines invented by Bulma (DBS). It can be found floating above the forest in the Recreation Plaza south of the Dragon Ball Pedestal. It can be reached either by using Flight or via the Transfer Shop. Activating the Battle Simulator console in the middle starts the first mission of the Hero Colosseum Saga.

According to Blizza, Chronoa created the island as a place for Time Patrollers to relax and rest after missions.

Kame House[]

The Kame House Reception Robot will transport the Warrior to the interior of Kame House where they can take part in battles and Parallel Quests as part of a team in Multi Lobby. It can still be visited even in Single Lobby but serves no purpose. Interestingly, a vehicle model will appear atop the cabinet near the door of Kame House that randomly changes every the one enters Kame House. The various vehicle models that appear include an Attack Ball, the Nameless Namekian's Spaceship, Jaco's Spaceship, King Kai's Car, Future Trunks' Time Machine, along with several other vehicles owned by either one of the Z Fighters or Bulma.

Interestingly, it is unclear if this Kame House is a replica or the original.

Conton City TV[]

DBXV2 1.16

Conton City TV in Multi Lobby in Xenoverse 2

Conton City TV is a large Television monitor that appears on a floating platform found hovering near the Patroller Academy and Business District in Multi Lobby after the 1.16.01 Update DLC. Like the Hero Colosseum, it was constructed by the Capsule Corporation. It occasionally broadcasts scheduled programming and at one point Fu hacks into the feed to broadcast a message to the Time Patrol, that is later shown as part of the Legendary Pack 2 DLC story.

When no programming is being aired, the screen will display certain loading screen Artworks.

Time Miniatures[]

Time Miniatures are special devices located on floating platforms that hover above Conton City. They are used to access large Rifts in Time that have begun appearing suddenly. There are 5 Miniatures in total, each leading to a different time rift that led to worlds outside of Conton City. These rifts can only be accessed via Time Miniatures and the locations beyond each rift offer different quests and experience. Each Time Miniature has a different destination and are the result of one of Towa's Distorted Time Eggs which have been apparently placed there by one of the Time Breakers or their allies.

Video Game Appearances[]

In The Breakers, Conton City can be seen briefly during the game's Prologue. After rescuing the Survivor, Teen Bulma, and Oolong (post-Emperor Pilaf Saga) from a Temporal Seam, Future Trunks transports them to a small Time Patrol Base outside of Conton City.

Oolong becomes curious about Conton City after hearing about it from Future Trunks. This leads to the 1.18.01 Update DLC in Xenoverse 2, causing Oolong from The Breakers to appear in Conton City's Time Nest portal area as an NPC who recruits the Future Warrior to take on Temporal Seam Quests. If both games are played on the same platform, Oolong will tell the Survivor Avatar what Conton City was like in The Breakers. After the 1.19.01 Update DLC, BREAKERS & XENOVERSE 2 Crossover Challenges become available in Xenoverse 2 with Oolong acting as an NPC that connects the two games.

Trivia[]

  • In the background of Toki Toki City several floating structures similar to the Lookout which appear to be floating cities can be seen as well as a serpentine road similar to Snake Way. Toki Toki City also appears to be floating in the sky as well.
  • Conton City is unique in that it is the first place in the Dragon Ball series where the use of Flight is regulated by traffic laws as one requires a special Flying License in order to use Flight legally. The exact penalty for violating it is unknown as Chronoa gives the Warrior a warning when they accidentally break the law due to their excitement over their new assignment at the start of the game. According to Chronoa, Flying Licenses are usually given to elite Time Patrollers in recognition of their elite status, thus rookie Time Patrollers must earn them by becoming elite members themselves as the Warrior does by defeating Frieza and Cooler during the Battle on Planet Namek.
    • However, it is unknown if outsiders like Goku, Whis, and Beerus are required to follow laws concerning Flight (which they use in cutscenes) or Chronoa simply overlooks their violation of it due to who they are (as Goku is a great historical figure and ally to the Time Patrol while Whis and Beerus are probably exempt due to their divine status). Alternatively, she issued them Flying Licenses despite not being actual Time Patrollers (elite or otherwise) so she could not be criticized for ignoring her own rules.
      • After part of the 1.18.01 Update, Chronoa is unhappy with Oolong's reckless & unauthorized operation of a Time Machine in Conton City airspace, to the point of accusing him of being a bad pilot, though he insists the Time Machine blew up due to some sort of malfunction. This further shows her dedication to ensuring the Conton City's airspace is safe, though fortunately no one is harmed by the explosion.
    • In addition to Flying Licenses, it is illegal to fire a Kamehameha (or other energy waves such as the Galick Gun) within the city limits. This is shown in the recruitment video when Goku and Vegeta are shown attacking each other with a Kamehameha and Galick Gun respectively as an example of what not to do. Presumably this is for safety reasons and to prevent any potential battles from damaging Conton City (save for situations like Frieza's Siege).
  • After Future Trunks introduces himself, he tells the confused Future Warrior that the place they have been summoned to is the Toki Toki World, instead of Toki Toki City. It is unknown if this is another name for Toki Toki City or the planet on which it is located (it could either a mistake by the game developers or was Toki Toki City's original name early in the games development phase).
  • There is a few surviving Namekian Frogs living in the Plaza of Time. Their presence in Toki Toki City unexplained, though they were either brought here by the Time Patrollers, Namekians, or Chronoa. They are the only known wildlife found in Toki Toki City.
    • The only other animal to appear in the city is Tokitoki, though it only appears in the city during cutscenes and doesn't count as wildlife as it is the Supreme Kai of Time's pet. However, the tweeting of small birds can be heard in some of the wilderness areas of Conton City though the birds themselves are unseen.
    • However, Pitalian Freshwater Fish, Giant Crab, Giant Octopus, and Giant Fish can apparently be caught in some of the water ways within Conton City though they are identical in appearance to other items found in Conton City.
    • Namekian Frogs do not appear after it is rebuilt into Conton City, indicating its Namekian Frog population died out or were relocated after Toki Toki City was destroyed by the dragon.
  • According to Future Trunks, the Supreme Kai of Time, and a Time Patrol Engineer named Harry, all the technology, robots, inventions, and Time Machines found in Toki Toki City are provided by Future Trunks' and Future Bulma's Capsule Corporation which was revived sometime after Future Trunks defeated Future Android 17, Future Android 18, and Future Imperfect Cell. This is likely due to the Supreme Kai of Time's keen interest in technology and as way for Trunks' mother Future Bulma to atone for her "crime" of creating the Time Machine (though she and Trunks are likely unaware of the fact that it wasn't against the law at the time they built it due to it being the first Time Machine created in the history of the universe) by aiding the Time Patrol and Future Trunks' through items, materials, and technology provided by the Capsule Corporation.
    • However, she is not the only incarnation of Bulma to assist the Time Patrol in this manner as her main timeline counterpart from Dragon Ball Super creates the Hero Colosseum and even visits Conton City in Xenoverse 2.
    • Additionally after the 1.16.01 Update, the Bulma from the Capsule Corporation Time Miniature rift is responsible for creating the Conton City TV monitor located in Conton City's Multi-Lobby. She even visits Conton City to oversee its installation & even meets Chronoa herself.
    • Teen Bulma from The Breakers also assists the Time Patrol though she remains in the Time Patrol Base located just outside the city limits.
  • In Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, Namekian Time Patroller Saria reveals that back when Conton City was still known as Toki Toki City, there was a rumor going around about how powerful divine beings such as Chronoa and Elder Kai actually were. When the Supreme Kais heard the rumor, they decided to demonstrate their power. As a result, Chronoa used her power to bring the Dragon Ball Pedestal's dragon statue to make it move as if it were alive. However, due to her recklessness the dragon grew so big that it turned Toki Toki City to ruins, forcing the Time Patrol to construct Conton City over the ruins. As a result, the animated dragon statue continues to float in the sky north of Conton City.
  • In Xenoverse 2, Chronoa explains that the Dragon Balls in Conton City are one of the multiple sets created by Dende after he reactivates the Dragon Balls in Age 999 after being warned by Time Patrol Trunks about the threat posed by Mira (as mentioned in Dragon Ball Online). Presumably, he provided one of these sets to Time Patrol Trunks out of gratitude which Trunks apparently took back with him to Toki Toki City, which he later used to summon the Future Warrior in Age 850. This set continues to be used by the Time Patrol in Conton City in Age 852. Interestingly, this set seems to lack a dormant phase in which they turn to stone as they can be collected immediately after being used which according to Chronoa makes them a source of unlimited wishes, however there seems to be no danger of them becoming overloaded with negative energy. Alternatively, Chronoa's power over time accelerates the process so the Dragon Balls are restored instantly and presumably remove any excesses negative energy that may have built up.
  • As it is located in the same location as Toki Toki City and near the portal to the Time Nest certain things functions the same as they did in Toki Toki City such as its set of Dragon Balls and Metamoran Fusions such as Gotenks not timing out, being able to remain fused as long as they remain in Conton City.
  • According to Vegeta in Xenoverse 2, Conton City's gravity is weaker than the gravity of Planet Vegeta and surmises that he and his fellow Saiyans should have prospective students train at 10 times their normal gravity, indicating Conton City has the same level of gravity as Earth as Planet Vegeta is known to have a gravity ten times that of the Earth. Presumably its gravity is not higher so as to not put a strain on the weaker members of the Time Patrol and/or so Tokitoki can fly without being hindered by high gravity (this scenario is more likely as Tokitoki's care is vital to ensure the propagation of time itself).
  • Interestingly, Chronoa spends more time in Conton City in Xenoverse 2 than she does in Toki Toki City in Xenoverse. Ironically, it's the reverse for Xeno Trunks as he spends more time in the Time Nest in Xenoverse 2, while appearing more often in Toki Toki City in Xenoverse. Presumably this is due to Xeno Trunks' increased workload, while Chronoa presumably enjoys a chance to get out of the Time Nest where she has lived for a couple millennia.
    • Additionally, Tokitoki accompanies Chronoa when she visits Conton City more so than in Xenoverse as he is only seen in Toki Toki City twice. Flying to greet Whis and Beerus after being freed from Demigra and with Chronoa, Trunks: Xeno, and the Future Warrior during the closing epilogue of Xenoverse.
  • In the Super Pack 2 DLC, Chronoa and Old Kai reveal that Time Nest and Conton City (and by extension Toki Toki City) are consider to be a part of Universe 7, which is partially why they support Team Universe 7 during the altered timeline of the Tournament of Destroyers (in addition to the Team Universe 7's victory being a part of the official history).
    • As part of the Super Pack 4 DLC, Chronoa reveals the Time Nest is located at the edge of the universe, though it is unclear how close Conton City and the Time Nest actually are as the Time Nest is connected to it by a portal and not physically though presumably it is located at the edge of the universe as well given that it takes massive time distortions for history changes to actual effect the city and its inhabitants just like the Time Nest.
  • Due to hearing that Conton City is populated by attractive ladies, Oolong develops something of an obsession with Conton City in The Breakers which leads to his escapades in Xenoverse 2 after 1.18.01 Update & 1.19.01 Update DLC. As a result, he is the only Survivor from The Breakers to visit Conton City in Xenoverse 2.
