Change the Future (チェンジ・ザ・フューチャー Chenji Za Fyūchā) is an Energy Wave used by Future Trunks in his Super Saiyan form.

Future Trunks charges the energy wave

First, Future Trunks says "I'll take care of you!" and charges at the opponent, but stops right in front of them with his hand over their face. Then, he charges a yellow energy sphere and fires it in the form of a large blast of energy against the opponent, inflicting a great amount of damage.

Future Trunks uses this attack during his final battle against Future Android 18 and Future Android 17. After Future Trunks dominates Future 18 and Future 17 with his new found strength, the Androids double-team against the Super Saiyan. However, Future Trunks blocks their attacks and knocks down Future 17 before destroying Future 18 with Change the Future while declaring that the attack is for Gohan.

Video Game Appearances

"Change the Future" was named in the Raging Blast series, where it is one of Future Trunks' Super Attacks in his Super Saiyan form.

In Dragon Ball Xenoverse, it appears as one of Future Trunks' Super Skills. In the game, it acts as a counterattack against ki blasts and Ki Blast Skills (it is ineffective against physical attacks and rush strike Skills despite what it says in its in-game description), the user will dodge the attack and appears in front of the opponent to attack with an energy wave. It can be obtained by the Future Warrior as a random reward in Parallel Quest 26: "Warrior's Annihilation - Future Chapters".

In Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, Change the Future returns as a Super Skill used by Trunks (Future) in his Capsule Corp. Clothes 1 and Capsule Corp. Clothes 2 skillsets, while Trunks: Xeno can use it in his Long Coat 2 and Captain Ginyu (Trunks: Xeno in Ginyu's body) skillsets. It can also be obtained as a random reward by the Future Warrior quite fittingly in Parallel Quest 43: "Change the Future".

This attack is also present in Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butōden. It's used as Super Saiyan Future Trunks' "Blitz Attack". This technique also appears in Dragon Ball Heroes as Dragon Ball Super's Future Trunks technique.

Change the Future appears as a combination blast with "Another End" as Super Saiyan Future Trunks' super attack in Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle.

In Dragon Ball FighterZ, Change the Future appears as both one of Future Trunks' special moves as well as his assist attack.

  • In the manga version of Episode of Bardock, Bardock used a similar technique to Change the Future to kill one of Chilled's henchmen, Toobi.
