Capsule Corporation Tokyo (株式会社カプセルコーポレーション・トーキョー Kabushiki-gaisha kapuseru kōporēshon tōkyō) is a Japanese company formed in order to manage the general production of Akira Toriyama's works. It was founded by Akio Iyoku on May 19, 2023, who in turn is the president of the company.
History[]
Akio's creation was exposed to the public in a report by Bunshun Online, which reported on Akio's dismissal as editor at Shueisha.[1] At the time of publication, the company had been formed with two other key former members of Shueisha's Dragon Ball Unit department, for the negotiation of the audiovisual rights of Dragon Ball, with the approval of Akira Toriyama.
In recent years this has led to a clash with Shueisha, who own the right to publish Dragon Ball manga, over control over the franchise.[2]
The company was responsible for managing the overall production of the SAND LAND project. They are also the current owner of the rights to the Dragon Ball anime and video games.
