Dragon Ball Wiki

Candy (あめだま Amedama) refers to any kind of artificial sweet food and is a common food in the universe.

It is most notably used in the series when Innocent Buu was on his rampage, turning many humans into candy. The Ginyu Force often talked about candy, making bets in order to get some.

Majin have a fondness for candies and sweets, a trait which they share with the God of Destruction of Universe 6 Champa.

PP Candy

Main article: PP Candy The PP Candy is an invention made by Bulma to use on Oolong to make him obedient; it is a special type of laxative that induces intense stomach cramps and diarrhea after the affected individual hears a high-pitched squeal ("pii pii" in Japanese, "swee swee" [a noise used by farmers to inform pigs when it's feeding time] in Viz's translation of the manga, and "piggy" in some dubs).

Chocolate Candy

Super Buu realizing he wouldn't be able to eat chocolate after Piccolo traps him inside the Hyperbolic Time Chamber

Chocolate is one of the most common forms of Candy and comes in a variety of forms such as chocolate bars. Innocent Buu, Good Buu, and Super Buu possess the ability to turn people into chocolate through their Transfiguration Beam variant Chocolate Beam, while Majuub's fire the Chocolate Beam from his fingers. Majuub also has a Kamehameha-based variant called Chocolate Kamehameha which combines the Kamehameha with the chocolate transforming properties of his Majin Beam.

Good Buu is turned into a Majin Buu-shaped chocolate when Evil Buu blows his Chocolate Beam back at him.

When Super Buu realized he was trapped inside the Hyperbolic Time Chamber after Piccolo destroyed the door due to assuming was Gotenks serious when he pretended Super Buu had him beat to make his intended reveal of Super Saiyan 3 more dramatic, he thinks of a chocolate bar (which is depicted in a thought balloon even in the anime), which results in him losing his temper and emits a scream powerful enough to break through the dimensional barrier separating the Hyperbolic Time Chamber from Earth. Super Buu then uses his Chocolate Beam to turn everyone remaining on The Lookout (Android 18, Bulma, Krillin, Marron, Master Roshi, Mr. Popo, Oolong, Ox-King, Puar, and Yamcha) save for Dende into chocolate before Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks uses the same method Super Buu did to allow himself and Piccolo to escape, only to find The Lookout in ruins and assume Dende was killed as well unaware Mr. Popo saved Dende by throwing him off The Lookout.

Fancy Chocolates

Mr. Satan's offering his poisoned Fancy Chocolates to Innocent Buu

During one of his many attempts to kill Innocent Buu, Mr. Satan gives him a batch of poisoned chocolates. Unfortunately Majin Buu's digestive system was able to handle the poison with no ill effects, in fact Buu really enjoyed them, saying they taste even better than candy made from humans. It is unclear if this was either a side effect of the poison, if Mr. Satan laced some high-quality chocolates with a flavorless poison, or if the taste of Chocolate Human Candy is inferior to normal chocolate.

Human Candy

Main articles: Human and Transfiguration Beam Innocent Buu, Super Buu, Kid Buu, Android 21, Android 21 (Evil), Majuub, and Good Buu's Majin descendants possess the ability to turn mortals into Candy, which includes both Earthlings, Saiyans, and their hybrid offspring. According to Android 21, their taste depends upon how powerful the individual is, with clones tasting not as good as the originals, and Innocent Buu notes that Mr. Satan's poison-laced fancy chocolates tasted better than human candy.

Due to the nature of their creation, most moral individuals refuse to consume Human Candy as shown when Mr. Satan covertly spits out the Human Candy that Innocent Buu gave him. Additionally Good Buu, Majuub, and Android 21 (Good) all refuse to consume any Human Candy and/or refuse to utilize said ability out of fear that they might be tempted as in the case of Android 21 (Good). Good Buu and Majuub are willing to use the technique to turn villains into harmless candy during their respective battles with Evil Buu and Baby Vegeta, though both attempts backfired (though Majuub took advantage of being consumed by Baby Vegeta to attack his body from within). It should be noted that Majuub getting turned into Human Candy was actually intentional on his part as he allow Baby to reflect the attack, to take advantage of Baby's arrogance as he looked down upon Majuub due to his association with Goku and had no qualms about eating Human Candy which Majuub was counting on to turn the tables against the Tuffle Machine Mutant (presumably his original plan was to force Baby out of Vegeta's body, but upon realizing Goku needed time to charge up his Super Saiyan 4 form with Saiya Power attacked Great Ape Baby Vegeta from within to buy Goku time).

With the exception of Candy Vegito, most Human Candy are immobilized by the process (similar to how Bulma was incapacitated when turned into a Carrot by Monster Carrot's Magic Touch). However, in the Xenoverse series, all characters can move while turned into Candy, though unlike Candy Vegito they cannot attack at all though they can't be attacked either. Additionally in some video games, there is a type of Human Candy that takes the form of a small human shaped chocolate, though their attempts to flee fail.

Candy Tokitoki

In Dragon Ball Xenoverse, Demigra utilizes the technique to turn the divine bird Tokitoki into a similar type of candy which he consumes in order to absorb the divine bird and become the God of Time and Space as Tokitoki birds are a species of divine bird that create time itself.

Candy Vegito

Main articles: Vegito and Transfiguration Beam

Candy Vegito

After being turned into a coffee-flavored jawbreaker by Super Buu so that he can be consumed, Vegito is still able to fight as the small jawbreaker human candy. Not only does Vegito retain all of his power, but he is also extremely fast, and far too small for Super Buu to hit; thus using an original attack to shoot in Super Buu's mouth and out the back of his throat, unscathed. In the dub, he calls it his "Pinball Attack". However, while this small size gives him a colossal advantage in battle, he is not invulnerable and is unable to use any of his special ki attacks.

Candy Vegito is unique among Human Candy as he retains his ability to move, fight, and speak using Telepathy which allows him to avoid being consumed. However when turned into Candy in the Xenoverse series, Candy Vegito can only move and cannot attack, though is immune to being attacked.

Video Game Appearances

In Dragon Ball Xenoverse, Majin Buu and a Majin Future Warrior can use the Candy Beam to turn opponents into a round pink-colored candy jawbreaker. While in this candy state, fighters can fly around normally but are unable to attack. There is also a Z-Soul that has a chance of turning an opponent into candy when they attack the user of said Z-Soul.

In Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, Candy and Chocolate appear as food items which the Future Warrior can give to Majin Buu to fill up his fullness gauge in order for Buu to create Majin offspring using Fission. The Future Warrior can also give them to Majin Buu's children as well in order to receive items based on the child's color. Interestingly, Chocolate is actually considered a nutritious food item according to its description. The Majin Time Patroller Bentora apparently ate some PP Candy while investigating the Capsule Corporation rift as he got a stomach ache after whistling though he did not suffer diarrhea due to his strong Majin digestive system which is known to be able tolerate Poisonous Mushrooms that grow in Conton City's Mushroom Desert. This also implies Bulma and/or the Capsule Corporation makes PP Candy within the rift's alternate timeline possibly even as a Capsule Corp. product presumably as a laxative for Earthlings that can be activated on command by whistling.

Super Buu (Gohan Absorbed) has a Super Skill version of the Candy Beam which can be used by all races unlike the Evasive Skill version.

Candy Exchange Item from the Sweet and Silly Super Carnival Event in Dragon Ball Legends

As part of the Ultra Pack 2 DLC, Majuub can be spoken to by the Future Warrior in Conton City. During one conversation, Majuub reveals that his appetite has gotten bigger and finds it hard to resist candy in particular, which is weird as he was never like that before, though ultimately, he decides that it's due to him getting older, before deciding to buy some candy. Majuub's comments imply that his increased appetite and newfound fondness for candy are likely side effects of his fusion with Good Buu.

In Dragon Ball Legends, the 2nd Unique Ability for World Champion Hercule (DBL24-11H) known as Fancy Chocolates! Help Yourself! which can inflict Paralyze and Strong Poison on the enemy after Hercule enters the battlefield. As part of the Sweet and Silly Super Carnival Event, Candy appears as the rarest exchange item that can be obtained during the event along with the more common Cookie Exchange Item.

  • Bulma getting turned into Chocolate by Super Buu isn't the first time she was turned into food, as she had previously been turned into a Carrot via Monster Carrot's Magic Touch during the Emperor Pilaf Saga, though thanks to the intervention of Goku and Puar, Carrot Bulma avoided being eaten by the Rabbit Mobster who was defeated and forced to turn Bulma back to normal.
    • However the different outcomes show how Dragon Ball had changed since the Emperor Pilaf Saga, as while Bulma getting turned into a carrot was simply a problem for early Dragon Team to overcome, her getting turned into a chocolate along with everyone on The Lookout (expect Dende) and being eaten was used to show Super Buu as a horrifying monster as well as provide Gotenks with more motivation to want to kill Buu as it was his playing around that caused Piccolo to trap Super Buu in the first place, thus he was technically responsible for the death of his last surviving genetic parent (as Chi-Chi, Goku, & Vegeta were all currently dead at the time).
  • In Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3, a hidden sequence before a fight happens between Goten and Omega Shenron. Goten dances around and wishes for Shenron to give him candy, only for Omega Shenron to respond "I don't grant wishes for candy!".
