"HEY, FRIEZA!" |
Burning Attack (バーニングアタック Bāningu Atakku) is a variation of Buster Cannon used by Future Trunks in his Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan 2, and Super Saiyan Rage forms.
Overview[]
Future Trunks performs a series of rapid arm movements, ending with his arms crossed across the chest, before placing his palms forward with the thumbs and index fingers touching each other, forming a diamond shape. Then, he fires an energy sphere from his palms towards the opponent. He can also perform the technique without performing the hand motions.
Usage[]
In Dragon Ball Z: The History of Trunks, Future Trunks first performs this technique against Future Android 18 while fighting the androids before traveling to the past, although it is blue in color.
In the past, he uses it to distract Mecha Frieza so that he could slice him into pieces. In order to ensure Frieza is baited into the trap, Trunks yells out to Frieza in a loud enough volume that Frieza ended up hearing him (either calling him out specifically [original and remastered English dubs] or yelling out the name of the attack [Japanese version and Dragon Ball Kai]). When it is fired against Mecha Frieza to distract him, Frieza dodges the attack, haughtily retorting that he missed by a mile (in the original English dub he growls to himself about what he will do to Trunks when he gets ahold of him), but Future Trunks then appears above him and slashes him with his sword before he had a chance to finish his threat.
Future Trunks uses the Burning Attack in the Dragon Ball Super manga, as a Super Saiyan 2, to finish off Future Dabura and Future Babidi, preventing them from resurrecting Future Majin Buu. He also uses the technique in the anime in his Super Saiyan Rage form during his first fight with Super Saiyan Rosé Goku Black. After successfully dragging him to the ground, Trunks blasts Black with a point-blank Burning Attack, which erupts into a huge pillar shaped explosion.
Film Appearances[]
In Dragon Ball Z: Super Android 13!, Future Trunks uses an attack similar to the Burning Attack, but without the arm movements and of blue color, against Android 14 during their battle on the Glacier.

Future Trunks using the Burning Attack against Broly
In Dragon Ball Z: Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan, Future Trunks uses the Burning Attack on Broly on New Planet Vegeta in an attempt to defend his father Vegeta, but to no avail, as Broly is unfazed by the attack and knocks out Future Trunks with an uppercut punch to the chin.

In the Budokai series, it is used in Future Trunks' ultimate move. In Budokai 3 and Infinite World, he uses it in conjunction with his sword in the Burning Slash technique.
In the Raging Blast series, it resembles a fireball. Additionally, in the intro of Raging Blast 2, Super Saiyan Future Trunks uses a Burning Attack in beam form against Full Power Bojack.
In the Budokai Tenkaichi series, it appears as the Blast 2 of Super Saiyan Trunks (Sword) and all forms of Trunks (Melee).
In Supersonic Warriors 2, it is named Buster Cannon.

Burning Attack in Shin Budokai - Another Road
In Shin Budokai - Another Road, Future Gohan uses this attack.
In Dragon Ball Online, Burning Attack is the first offensive technique performed by Time Patrol Trunks. When Time Patrol Trunks uses the technique in a cinematic cut of player's tutorial, he performs the traditional series of rapid arm movements and stance; however, the color (blue) and power differ because he performs it in his base form. The actual skill, still blue in color, is learned at level 44 by Sword Masters.
In Dokkan Battle, Burning Attack appears as a Super Attack for Future Trunks and Xeno Trunks. It also appears as the enemy Clone Trunks' Super Attack which it inherited from its source material's DNA.
In Xenoverse, it can be obtained as a Super Skill for the Future Warrior in Parallel Quest 19: Let's Train. When hitting an opponent in the ground, they will be launched upwards by the blast.
In Extreme Butōden, it is mistakenly named Buster Cannon (which also appears in the game under the name Buster Flash) and is Future Trunks' Air Ultimate Combo.
In Dragon Ball Fusions, Future Trunks and Vegeta's EX-Fusion, Vegenks, uses this move. It can also be learned by the Dragon Ball Super incarnation of Future Trunks in his base form.

Future Super Saiyan Time Patrol Trunks after firing the Burning Attack at Mira in Age 780 in Xenoverse 2
In Xenoverse 2, Burning Attack returns as one of Future Trunks' Super Skills. During the A Desperate Future Saga, when Mira threatens Future Gohan and the Future Warrior in the altered timeline of Age 780, Future Super Saiyan Time Patrol Trunks performs the attack as a warning shot after defying Chronoa's orders to stay out of Age 780 as it is an altered version of Time Patrol Trunks' own past. As part of the 1.15.00 Update DLC, it can be added as a Super Skill to the custom skillsets for Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta, Time Patrol Future Trunks, and Tapion after purchasing it in Partner Customization.
In Dragon Ball Legends, Burning Attack appears as the Special Move Arts for Super Saiyan Trunks (Teen)(DBL02-02S), Trunks (Teen)(DBL02-03E), and Trunks (Teen)(DBL10-07E). Additionally, Super Saiyan Trunks (Teen)(DBL02-02S) can teach it to Shallot after reaching Friendship Rank 2. One version of Hit performs similar movements for a power-up card but does not use a Burning Attack.

Future Trunks firing a Burning Attack in Kakarot
In Kakarot, Burning Attack appears as one of Future Trunks' Super Attacks. Additionally, it has several upgraded variants that can be unlocked via different training exercises at the Training Grounds. The variants are Super Burning Attack, Spread Shot Burning Attack, Guided Burning Attack, and Limit Breaker Burning Attack.
