While I agree with you that powerlevels are not used anymore power scaling is still a thing, in real life we use it as well such as an Olympic weight lifter can lift much more than I can and is thusly stronger and is more likely to win a fight. But the difference in DB is much more between characters than what’s between me and a weight lifter, I mean you have universe busters in there and it’d be pretty clear who would win between them and a planet buster. But that doesn’t mean the planet buster is going to just walk away or else we wouldn’t have Goku vs Frieza I know frieza couldn’t destroy a universe but he was so much stronger than Goku by that logic he would’ve just walked away when he was told that Frieza is insanely stronger than everyone there, this is just simply not how Goku works or a couple of other people in DB. But this fight is a testament to the stronger fighter doesn’t win 100% of the time.
You’ve sort of proven my point about why power scaling is dumb too. The fact that an Olympic weight lifter can lift more than someone doesn’t necessarily mean that they will win in a fight at all. In real life there are so many more factors. If power scaling actually made sense betting on sports would be very easy...
Team A beat Team B last week, but Team B beat Team C the week before, so if Team A doesn’t beat Team C this week that’s BS, right? And for that matter, Team A should always beat Team B this season, since it’s been established that A is better.
I mean, we know that sort of logic doesn’t make sense in reality, so why do we complain when it doesn’t hold up in anime either?
