Battlefield Namek

On the green skies and blue plains of Planet Namek, a war rages between two equally evil forces: Emperor Freeza, who wants to use Namek's Dragon Balls to become immortal, and Vegeta, last prince of the Saiyans, who has betrayed his former master in search of the same prize. Trapped between these two mighty enemies are the peaceful Namekians and Earth's heroes Kuririn, Gohan and Bulma! As Freeza's henchmen Dodoria and Zarbon trade blows with the ever-stronger Vegeta, the Earthlings put their own lives at risk to protect the Namekians until Son Goku's spaceship arrives. But can even Goku's new training regimen—under 20 times Earth's gravity—prepare him for what awaits on this alien world?[1]

Story[]

Son Goku has Earth greatest hero, and the magical Dragon Balls were Earth's greatest treasure. But when Goku's evil alien kinsmen, the Saiyans, learned of their existence, their leader Vegeta lead an assault on Earth to steal the Dragon Balls and eliminate the human race. After a grueling battle, Vegeta retreated, but not before many of our heroes died and the Dragon Balls themselves were destroyed. In search of a way to resurrect their friends, Bulma, Gohan and Kuririn went into outer space to planet Namek, where the Dragon Balls where originally made. To their horror, they found that Namek had been invaded by Vegeta's ex-boss—Freiza—and by Vegeta as well! To rescue his son and friends, Goku now heads to Namek himself…[1]

Volume introduction by Akira Toriyama[]

"So after the toothache (see DBZ Vol. 4), one of three lumps of fat on my left buttock became inflamed and painful. It was pretty much right exactly where I put my weight when I sit down, so I went right away to the hospital to have it surgically removed. The surgery was done without anesthesia, so it hurt so bad much I thought I was gonna die! After two weeks, when that wound from the surgery was healing up, I had the other two lumps removed too. So for about one month, I had to work while sitting on my right buttock. Yes indeed, it was hell…"[1]
