AB Groupe[]

SuperGuerrierBardock

Super Guerriers Articule Bardock figure

  • Super Guerriers Articule
  • Release date: 1996

Released by AB Groupe, this is one of the only Bardock models that is scaled at the basic figure height of 5-6 inches. Although it was re-released later by Irwin Toy in a new bubble and packaging, it remained one of the only figures of the character at the basic figure scale for a very long radius of time. As a part of the Super Guerriers Articule lineup, the packaging is very unique, much like other AB figures, encasing the figure in a bubble whilst maintaining a strong solid backboard and plastic case for the figure and cardboard. The figure's cardboard showcases Super Saiyan Vegeta as the main backdrop and depicts an image of Tapion on the top corner. It is figure number 16 of the basic scale Super Guerriers series.

The first Bardock model was produced as a miniature collectible by French company AB Groupe in 1996 (dated 1989). The packaging read as Dragon Ball Z "Super Guerriers" and this specific set was Coffret Number 14 (Series 14). Bardock is seen flying with battle-damage as he stares upward, his arms spread out. This is a very unique piece as it portrays Bardock in a flying motion as opposed to a basic stance. This figurine was re-released in the Irwin Toy line quite a few years later. Others included in this set were Machine Gunner, Super Saiyan Future Trunks, Oolong, Evil Buu, Hoi, and Fortuneteller Baba.

HybridBardockBandai

Hybrid Action series Bardock figure

  • Hybrid Action series
  • Release date: 2007

Bandai's "Hybrid Action" series is likely the absolute best aside from Unifive’s Posing series in terms of complete articulation. This series features figures with extreme detail yet allows for a nice repertoire of poses to be done. Articulation plays a large role when it comes to basic scale action figures and is likely a great differentiating factor amongst the versatility of specific collectibles. In this case, the Hybrid Action Bardock figure is quite a great addition to anyone interested in high levels of articulation. This specific piece was released in July, 2007 in conjunction with two other pieces in the series, Vegito, and Super Saiyan Gotenks. Depicted with his scouter and green armor, he bends quite well at the joints as well as having circular rotations. The figure is able to be posed in numerous positions, similar to Unifive's Posing series, but at a slightly larger scale. Along with this versatility, another interesting feature to note is the additional pair of inter-changeable hands that come in the packaging. This allows for different postures and overall stances. The figure has over 20 points of articulation and comes complete with a stand and base. The specific Bardock piece stands at 4 inches (approximately 10.5 cm). Pieces included in the Hybrid Action collection are Vegito, Super Saiyan Gotenks, Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta, Super Saiyan 4 Goku, Future Trunks, Bardock, Vegeta, Perfect Cell, Super Saiyan Broly, Kid Buu, Super Saiyan Teen Gohan, Super Saiyan Future Trunks, Goku, adult Gohan, Super Saiyan 3 Goku, Goku (GT), Majin Buu, Super Saiyan Vegeta, Super Saiyan Goku, Super Saiyan Gogeta, Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks, Piccolo, and Super Saiyan Vegito.

Neo High Quality Keyholder including Bardock

  • Neo High Quality Keyholder Series
  • Release date: 2008

Banpresto revealed a slew of Keyholder figurines as one of their basic lineups. Released in 2008 and entitled “Neo High Quality Key Holder,” Bardock is included as a part of this great tribute to the Saiyan chronology. Bardock is seen on the upper portion of the trio of characters on this piece as he holds a serious expression and is surrounded by a dark green aura. Super Saiyan Goku is seen in the middle of the three with a bright yellow glow for his aura and a roaring expression as Vegito is seen on the lower half with red aura and his teeth gritted with a fierce expression of seriousness. Bardock's bandanna flows fluently as the trio is captured brilliantly for this depiction of Saiyans on a single keyring set. The detail is remarkable and the paint job is very unique with a shiny and glossy look. The only detrimental factor of this full piece is that all the characters are cut off below the torso, which means that there's no legs to go along with the base, and the piece is composed only of their upper halves. Other Keyring sets included in this same Neo High Quality Keyholder set are the Ginyu Force (including Captain Ginyu, Jeice, Burter, Recoome, and Guldo), all forms of Frieza, and the alliance of Vegeta, Gohan, and Krillin.

The prior piece depicted Bardock with his teeth gritted as opposed to having his mouth open. The piece still stands at about 7 inches. It is titled as vol. 12 in this collection. The differences in this specific piece and the aforementioned HQDX piece are the coloring scheme and the overall facial reaction. The expression of the figure is that of a serious and confident determination. The figure is titled as "Barduck" and the boxart features a black packaging. The figure, much like most in this set, came with another character (one they were fighting). The basic set was released within Dragon Balls and the Gashapons included two figurines, which would be attached to a ground base and showcase a scene from the series. The Bardock came facing Frieza in this first initial MegaHouse appearance of Bardock.

The same Super Guerriers Articule Bardock figure was re-released under the Super Warriors lineup for Irwin Toy’s Saga Continues series. The Super Warriors were the first wave of Irwin Toy’s releases prior to their initial Saga Continues box designs. These versions had a cardboard backing with a bubble rather than a larger packaging. The figure remains the same as the previous Bardock from the Super Guerriers Articule lineup and has no differentiating factors aside from the packaging itself being a green and blue flame aura.

Series14 Irwin

The Saga Continues Series 14 including Bardock figurine

  • The Saga Continues Series 14
  • Release date: 1999

Irwin Toy pretty much re-released all the previous 2 inch Super Guerriers figurines. Bardock was no exclusion as when series 14 was released, he was included with the others from the previous lineup. The mini-figure remains the same aside from the basic packaging layout being larger by the bubble and cardboard size. However, the contents remain the same and the figures remain unaltered. This series is considered the miniature releases that went along with Irwin’s basic 5 inch lineup.

Series8 Irwin

The Saga Continues series 8 miniature figurine set including Bardock

  • "The Saga Continues" Series 5-8
  • Release date: 1999

Irwin Toy has also re-released many of the previous Super Guerriers figurines in an even smaller base, miniatures by the size of an inch and a half. Bardock was included in the Series 8 set which held 12 miniature sized characters in one package. The mini-figure remains the same aside from the basic packaging layout being different with blue boxart rather than orange and yellow from the previous "Saga Continues" set. This is also the only miniature collectible set to feature the 1.5 inch Bardock figurine.

1999Series9BardockB

Series 9 Bardock figure

  • The Saga Continues Series 9
  • Release date: 1999

Irwin Toy's basic toy lineup entitled "The Saga Continues" series 9 was released in 1999 and has included a figure set which incorporated a re-released Bardock from the AB line. The boxart reads "With Accessories" and lists the character as "Bardock" on the box front as his primary naming scheme. The figure is nice for a basic piece in terms of mobility and height. The articulation is limited, allowing for movement for the arms albeit having almost-immobile legs. With the minor articulation flaws, this figure remains one of Bardock's most reissued pieces at a 5-inch scale by Irwin, the actual first model being the AB version of this same piece. The box mockup has green, blue, and purple aura as the background. The coloring used on the title area background is blue for this piece. The figure comes with a sword and a Dragon Ball as his accessories.

2000Series10BardockB

Series 10 Bardock reissue figure

  • The Saga Continues Series 10 reissues
  • Release date: 1999

Irwin Toy’s basic toy lineup entitled “The Saga Continues” series 10 was released in 1999 and has reissued the same Bardock figure from the aforementioned lineup. The differentiating factor for this figure is the box mockup listing it as a "Series 10" figure as opposed to a "Series 9" figure. Otherwise, the figure remains exactly the same in terms of the contents of this release. The box front of this version reads “With Accessories” and lists the character as "Bardock," continuing the primary naming scheme. This remains the only model offered by Irwin as a base height figure for Bardock to be manufactured at a 5-inch scale, the actual first model being the AB version of this same piece. Other differences from the previous Series 9 release are the front title area background now having a green coloring and the figure now comes with a bazooka as opposed to a sword as his accessory piece. The figure still comes with an extra Dragon Ball and this time, he also has an insignia included in the packaging.

10th Anniversary Bardock and Goku 2-pack

  • 10th Anniversary Collector Edition 2-packs
  • Release date: 2005

Jakks Pacific has released a 2-pack of Bardock along with Goku, this time highlighted by the “10th Anniversary Collector Editions.” Released in 2005, there's a distinctive logo mark on Bardock's armor, which reads “DBZ 10 Year Anniversary.” The box mockup is highlighted by a galactic blue background and numerous sparks as the backdrop. Both Bardock and Goku are featured on the box front in pictorial format and the packaging shape is that of an oval shape. The Bardock figure remains a very unique piece as he is portrayed with his armor intact and without battle damage and this 2-pack is quite a rarity as it was released in scarce quantities, coincidentally making this highly collectible in this format. There are additional rocks and debris for adding better depiction to the two figures included. Other 2-packs included in this same 10th Anniversary set are Recoome with Goku, and Semi-Perfect Cell with Tien.

FatherSonJakksBardockGoku

Father And Son Bardock and Super Saiyan Goku 2-pack

  • Release date: 2006

Jakks Pacific has released a 2-pack of battle-damaged Bardock along with Goku in its Dragon Ball Z series additions to the 2-pack sets. Released in 2006 as a part of the "Father and Son" 2-pack sets, this specific 2-pack portrays the development of two of these great Saiyan warriors. A very unique touch to the Bardock figure is his armor having a shiny white tint and blood running down the sides of his face as well as having cuts across his arms and legs to better depict the battle-damage feel. Bardock also has a roaring facial reaction due to being in his final fighting moments. Super Saiyan Goku is seen in his Cell Saga appearance with a determined facial expression. These 2-packs were a few of the very end of Jakks Pacific's releases and were produced in lesser supply, making them rather rare in terms of their production run. Other 2-packs included in this same set are Goku with Kid Gohan, and Super Saiyan Vegeta with Future Trunks.

Others included in this same Volume 3 set are King Kai with Bubbles, Frieza in his final form, Goku with Yardratian outfit, Super Saiyan Goku, Piccolo, Kid Gohan, Future Trunks, Captain Ginyu with a Namekian frog, Vegeta with a Saibaman, and Super Saiyan Vegeta.

Resin-based model kit statue Bardock

  • Resin-based Statue series
  • Release date: Unknown

A more recent release came in the form of a statue which portrays Bardock with a shattered ground base and his space pod in the distance. The statue stands tall with intricate detail. The highly detailed statue comes in a paint job reminiscent of an airbrush technique. Other than the ground beneath the statue being a great base for his leg to step on, Bardock also comes with two inter-changeable arms. One of his arms is seen outstretched and blasting a spark of energy which holds a light blue transparent hue. The other arm rests on his knee in a relaxed posture. He holds a smile on his face and he is seen with his scouter as well, which can be equipped and removed. Bardock's sculpt is brilliant, allowing for a serious yet somewhat joyous facial expression to shine through the character and heightening the overall deadly appearance with his powerful shard-like blast.

Another resin-based statue was released and portrays Bardock gripping his blood-stained bandanna tightly in front as he maintains a serious, powerfully moving, and dramatic posture.
