Android 9 (じんぞうにんげん9ごう Jinzōningen Kyu-Gō, Lit. "Artificial Human No. 9") is a fully artificial android model constructed by Dr. Gero. His template is Commander Red.

Two incarnations of Android 9 appear across different media: Iyo-ku-gō in Dragon Ball SD and Project: Red in Dragon Ball Online.

Concept and Creation[]

The Android 9 in SD: Iyo-ku-gō's name is a play on the name of the V-Jump Editor-in-Chief's name.

Android 9 DBO

Android 9, an artificial replica of Commander Red

Android 9, codenamed "Project: Red", was rebuilt by the Red Pants Army as Project: Red and is fought in the ruins of the Red Ribbon Army Headquarters located near Korin Tower. Although proportionally the same, he is much larger than his template, to the extent of towering over the main character by a head's length, ironically fulfilling his template's wish to be taller in a sense. He also seems to be wearing some sort of ceremonial scarf adorned with Red Ribbon logos.

Power[]

Manga

When he appears in Dragon Ball SD, Iyo-ku-gō is easily defeated by Kid Goku.

Video Games

Project: Red is capable of taking on the Youth prior to them achieving their race's transformation.

He is not as powerful as fellow Mechanical-type modeled after a human template Android 16.[3][4]
