Figuarts16

S.H. Figuarts Android 16 figure

  • S.H. Figuarts Figure Series
  • Release date: 2015

This extremely pose-able Android 16 figure was first announced in 2014 by Bandai. Its release date has been confirmed as March 2015 and it is the next in the S.H. Figuarts lineup for the Dragon Ball characters. Android 16's facial reaction here is that of complete determination with a powerful personality. His detail and paint job here is on the mark and an overall excellent replica. One of the best features on this piece is his mobility, allowing for his torso to be rotated in a clockwise and counterclockwise motion. This piece is likely the most mobile piece yet for Android 16's character and also one of the most detailed additions under the S.H. Figuarts series in terms of both articulation and detail. The powerful replication of Android 16 joins 17 and 18 in the S.H. Figuarts lineup of Dragon Ball Z figures. Android 16 comes with 3 interchangeable head-sculpts (yelling, calm, and strong battle damage design with a portion of his face blasted off) perfect for recreating your favorite Dragon Ball scenes. Interchangeable right and left hands are also included and additional arms portray the Hell Flash attack, showcasing the interior of his metallic design. The same extensive detail has been paid to his additional inter-changeable heads. His battle damage head-sculpt features the metallic interior of his head as well as portraying battle scuffs and one eye shut whilst the other remains open.

This series is considered the miniature releases that went along with Irwin’s basic 5 inch lineup.

The mini-figure remains the same aside from the basic packaging layout being different with blue boxart rather than orange and yellow from the previous "Saga Continues" set. This variant is a different set from the aforementioned series 5-8 release. In this version, Android 16 is seen in his crouched fighting stance.

  • The Saga Continues Clips
  • Release date: Unknown

These miniature clips were a nice addition that corresponded with the previous reissues by Irwin Toy. The Android 16 clip is the same model from Super Guerriers Coffret No. 19. However, it comes with a light blue-colored clip attached to it. The miniature packaging reads “Clips” with a translation “Prendedores Pinces” beside it. This is a part of the Saga Continues series releases by Irwin and features numerous other characters that were a part of the Super Guerriers lineup. The boxart is also very similar to the basic 5 inch scale figures in the Saga Continues series, with a green base around it and aura in the middle of the cardboard backdrop.

Series6-16

Androids Saga Android 16 figure

  • Androids Saga Series 6
  • Release date: 2001

Android 16 stands firm in Irwin’s basic toy line pertaining to the Androids Saga. Introduced in 2001, one hand is in a gripped fist posture while the other has a distinct removable capability, allowing for the inside of the character's mechanical cybernetics to be seen. His determined glare is highly pronounced with his lips and eye ridges. Standing just above 5 inches, the figure is modeled to perfection and comes with a collectible randomized Dragon Ball series character pog medallion and three Dragon Balls.

Irwin-16-metallic

  • Androids Saga Series 6
  • Release date: 2001

Irwin’s Android 16 has been simultaneously released in 2001 with the silver metallic boxart and lining as a more limited release ratio. Still a part of the Androids Saga, the figure is modeled exactly the same as the aforementioned Android 16 release and comes with a collectible randomized Dragon Ball series character pog and three Dragon Balls. The major difference of this release is the boxart being different, which makes the item equally as collectible if not more-so than the initial Android 16 release by Irwin.

Android16-ZStoreExclusive

Z Store Exclusive Androids Saga Android 16 figure

  • Z Store Exclusive Androids Saga
  • Release date: 2001

Irwin’s Android 16 has been simultaneously released as an exclusive Z Store item in 2001 with the silver metallic boxart and lining as an even more limited variant than the other two previous aforementioned releases. Still a part of the Androids Saga, the figure is modeled exactly the same as the aforementioned Android 16 release (albeit having a new paint job) and comes with a collectible randomized Dragon Ball series character pog and three Dragon Balls. The major difference of this release is the boxart being different, which makes the item equally as collectible if not more-so than the initial Android 16 release by Irwin. Other differences for this version's packaging include the "Collector's Exclusive" detailed on the box bubble as well as the FUNimation logo. Other instances of actual particular differences to the model itself include a variation in terms of the paint job, having a shiny and glossy metallic coloring scheme. This is especially pronounced due to the neon green clothing having a metallic layer and being overall eye-catching.

ModelKit-Irwin-16

Model Kit Series Android 16

  • Irwin Model Kit Series
  • Release date: 2002

A very memorable addition by Irwin is the Model Kit series, which included some assembly-required characters. The set included some characters such as Dr. Gero, Perfect Cell, and of course, Android 16. This model of Android 16 was very similar to the 5 inch sculpt that Irwin originally released with minor differences. For one, the figure’s clothing is rubber rather than basic plastic. Also, the figure comes together quite nicely, fitting into place and allowing for the clothes to come on top of the figure base. The most integral differential, however, is the actual texture of the clothing, which in this case is a soft rubber base rather than a hard plastic. 16's body movement is quite a bit more mobile in comparison. The model kit version stands at about 6 and a half inches, this being a bit greater in height when placed next to the 5 inch base figure. Although there’s a great amount of work put into these model kits, they were produced at a lesser number by assortment in comparison to the basic figure line, and in particular, the Android 16 model kit is likely one of the rarest of the bunch. More common model kits in the series, which had previously been released in 2000 through 2002 were that of Vegeta, Goku, Gohan, Piccolo, Tien, Future Trunks, Teen Trunks (with long hair), Super Saiyan Vegeta, Super Saiyan Goku, and Super Saiyan Kid Gohan.

Mexican 16

Mexican manufacturer produced Android 16 figure

  • Dragon Ball Z GT Series
  • Release date: Unknown

This hard-to-find model was sculpted by a Mexican Manufacturer. The actual mold is quite unique and unlike other models, as many and most of the bases are just a redone instrumentation of other figures and/or just plain bootlegs of other sculpts. This one, however, is a new model in and of itself and was sculpted and sold as is. The paint job isn't particularly brilliant but it is unique and isn’t on the poor side as is the case with most bootlegs or copied imports. Standing at 8 inches tall, this specific model is rather well-crafted and stands out amongst numerous others imported from these Mexican Manufacturers. Android 16 here is standing with a determined look, having a great deal of emphasis on his overall serious expression. His stance depicts him as the essence of the mechanized being that he is. The overall coloring scheme of his pants and arms are a distinct dark navy blue as opposed to the basic black he is canonically shown wearing.
