Android 15 takes the appearance of a very short and small man. To some extent, he embodies a stereotype of an African American due to his large pink lips and dark skin tone. This is especially noticed in the FUNimation dub, where he is given the voice of an African American as well. 15 dons a large green hat with a red ball on top, what some consider the rendition of a pimp's hat. He has a black and white tuxedo shirt with a dark yellow and blue overcoat. He also wears a red bow tie sporting the "Red Ribbon" logo. He also wears baggy light blue pants and black boots. Underneath his hat, he also has a white glass-dome cranium, similar to that of Androids 19 and Android 20. In addition, without his sunglasses, his eyes are also completely mechanical.

Being a man-made android and serving only as a lackey to target and kill Goku, Android 15 seems to display little-to-no emotion.
Android 15 has short lines in both the original version and FUNimation dub. In the original, he only says two lines: "Son Goku..." a few times and "Trunks" only once. In FUNimation's dub, he exclaims things like "Who blasted mah blast!?" and "Okay... let's dance" with a "pimp" or "gangster" accent (which is most likely stereotypical/becoming of his appearance). His main concern is his duty to take out Goku and company. He portrays a comedic side, as he hilariously falls through snow once in the movie & fixes his tie and hat on a regular basis. He can be seen drinking from a small flask in the film as well, giving his character charm.

While 15 and 14 are taking up arms against Goku and Future Trunks, a third android arrives on the scene: Android 13, who was completed by Dr. Gero's supercomputer after Androids 15 and 14. Upon his arrival on the scene, 13 confronts Goku, leaving Trunks and Vegeta to fight against 14 and 15 respectively. Ultimately, Android 15 is destroyed by Vegeta following Vegeta's transformation to Super Saiyan by decapitating him with a punch (in sync with the destruction of Android 14 by Super Saiyan Trunks), although not before dealing a heavy blow to the Saiyan Prince simultaneously, with the decapitation having a delayed effect. However, even their deaths are fail-safe, as 13 absorbs components from 15 and 14, resulting in his transformation into Super Android 13.

"Who blasted mah blast!?"
Dragon Ball Z: Super Android 13!

Android 15 (人造人間15号 Jinzōningen Jūgo-Gō, "Artificial Human No. 15") is Dr. Gero's fifteenth android creation. He is designed to serve Gero's vendetta against Goku, who overthrew the Red Ribbon Army as a child.

While the main timeline version of him was destroyed by Gero, the parallel world version Android 15 makes his debut as an antagonist in the film Dragon Ball Z: Super Android 13!.

According to Akira Toriyama's art of the character, this android was intended to be Android 14 (人造人間14号 Jinzōningen Jū Yon-Gō, lit. "Artificial Human No. 14"), however, Toei Animation switched the two androids' names.

Creation and concept

A15(Daiz6)

Concept art of Android 14, which was instead used for Android 15

In the original concept art drawn by Akira Toriyama, Android 15 is labeled as Android 14 and Android 14 is labeled as Android 15, but the anime staff switched their names around due to the story development and other circumstances.[2]

Appearance

Android15faceshot

Android 15 with a small flask

Android 15 takes the appearance of a very short and small man. To some extent, he embodies a stereotype of an African American due to his large pink lips and dark skin tone. This is especially noticed in the Funimation dub, where he is given the voice of an African American as well. 15 dons a large green hat with a red ball on top, what some consider the rendition of a pimp's hat. He has a black and white tuxedo shirt with a dark yellow and blue overcoat. He also wears a red bow tie sporting the "Red Ribbon" logo. He also wears baggy light blue pants and black boots. Underneath his hat, he also has a white glass-dome cranium, similar to that of Androids 19 and 20. In addition, without his sunglasses, his eyes are also completely mechanical.

Personality

Emotionless Android 15

Android 15 as an emotionless robot

Being a man-made android and serving only as a lackey to target and kill Goku, Android 15 seems to display little-to-no emotion.

Android 15 has short lines in both the original version and Funimation dub. In the original, he only says two lines: "Son Goku..." a few times and "Trunks" only once. In FUNimation's dub, he exclaims things like "Who blasted mah blast!?" and "Okay... let's dance" with a "pimp" or "gangster" voice (which is most likely stereotypical/becoming of his appearance). His main concern is his duty to take out Goku and company. He can be seen drinking from a small flask in the film as well, giving his character charm.

Biography

He was developed by Dr. Gero at some point before the Androids Saga. Along with Android 13 and Android 14, Android 15 was quite close to the final Android form, however like their predecessors they had one problem or another and as such were presumed to have been destroyed by Dr. Gero.

Even though Android 13, Android 14, and Android 15 are not featured in the Dragon Ball manga, the "Androids A-B-C's" section mentions that Androids 13, 14, and 15 were very close to the Android concept.[3]

While 15 and 14 are taking up arms against Goku and Trunks, a third android arrives on the scene: Android 13, who was completed by Dr.

Android 15 is powerful enough to trouble Goku, Future Trunks, and Vegeta in their base forms. It is shown that he possesses power only somewhat inferior to Vegeta when the latter turns into a Super Saiyan, as he manages to hurt Vegeta several times, and just before he is destroyed his final blow manages to knock Vegeta out of Super Saiyan.

Trivia

Android 15 OWT

Android 15 with alternate colors

 • Android 15 - with alternate colors - makes a cameo in the Other World Saga.
 • In the original version of the movie, Android 15 has very little dialog, only saying two lines throughout the movie: "Son Goku" a few times, & "Trunks" once. FUNimation's dub, however, gives him numerous lines to speak, in a stereotypical African-American accent.
 • Android 15's bowtie is primarily based on the Red Ribbon Army's insignia. Humorously, this technically makes him the only Red Ribbon Android to actually wear a Red Ribbon as a bowtie is basically a ribbon of fabric tied around the collar of a shirt in a symmetrical manner so that the two opposite ends form loops.
 • In the remastered release of the film, his voice sounds slightly deeper.
