Alternate Timeline (Original)[]

  • According to the original history of this timeline recorded in its Time Scroll viewed by Xeno Trunks inside the Time Vault in Age 852, Future Gohan confronts Future 17 and Future 18 alone after having left the unconscious Future Trunks behind. Notably he makes no mention of a warrior rising to take his place before engaging the Androids. Future Trunks wakes up and searches for Gohan as it starts to rain, finds his dead body which causes him to transform into a Super Saiyan like in the anime special.

Alternate Timeline (Altered/Semi-Corrected)[]

  • Towa finds and reactivates Future Android 16 turning him into her servant and sending him on a mission to eliminate Future Goku's son, Future Gohan before he is killed by Future 17 and Future 18. However, he is defeated by Future Gohan with the assistance of the Future Warrior only to be confronted by Mira who seeks to absorb Future Gohan's hidden potential to further his own evolution.
  • In order to stop Mira from killing Future Gohan and the Future Warrior, Time Patrol Trunks decided to intervene despite the risks. After the three of them manage to drive Mira off, Future Trunks is reunited with his mentor and overcome with regret, decides to alter his own history by saving Future Gohan from dying by the androids disobeying Chronoa's orders. However Future Gohan realizing his fate is to die fighting the Androids and that Trunks will ultimately prevail, willing decides to face his death. Trunks tries to stop him, but the Future Warrior blocks him, and Gohan convinces Trunks to move on and says goodbye. Time Patrol Trunks returns to Age 852 with the Future Warrior. Chronoa and Elder Kai decide to allow Time Patrol Trunks and the Future Warrior's encounter with Future Gohan in Age 780 remain instead of letting them disappear when Chronoa puts the scrolls together as all corrected changes usually are when history has been corrected (effectively restoring history to its original proper course), as they consider the change to be harmless and out of respect for Time Patrol Trunks' bond with Future Gohan (As a result, it is implied that Gohan's line in the History of Trunks special about never dying and someone rising to take his place was due to having met Time Patrol Trunks, indicating that his final battle with 17 & 18 in the special takes place in the altered future timeline and that Gohan was aware of his fate in the special but chose to die heroically, assured that Trunks would grow strong enough to defeat them due to his encounter with Time Patrol Trunks).

Main/Alternate Timelines (ToP Time Rift/Future Hell Time Rift)[]

  • In Extra Mission 02: "Too Many Janembas!", Fu creates a time rift within Hell of Age 780 in Future Trunks' timeline shortly after Future Gohan's death following his encounter with Time Patrol Future Trunks, which was formed inside the Time Rift within the Null Realm in Age 780 of the main timeline during the Tournament of Power where Fu tried to pass himself off as a replacement for Dyspo only for the Omni-Kings to see through his lie, but allowed him to participate anyway cause they found the tournament crasher a fun addition to Team Universe 11. Fortunately, the Chronoa and Elder Kai are able to convince the Omni-Kings that the Conton City Hero (and by extension Time Patrol Trunks) were summoned by a special ability of Goku's. After thrwarting Fu's interference in Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan (Evolved) Vegeta's elimination of Toppo (God of Destruction) through the use of his Demon Realm Crystals which grants both fighters Supervillainization, by helping Vegeta break free of the enchantment allowing him to defeat the Supervillain empowered God of Destruction Toppo with a Super Galick Gun powered by his resolve to restore Universe 6 and protect his family (including Time Patrol Trunks).
    • After the elimination of Toppo, Jiren eliminates Vegeta with a Full Power Energy Wave leaving the Conton City Hero and Time Patrol Trunks to hold off Fu to prevent him from interfering in Goku's battle with Jiren. Eventually Fu decides to flee into the Time Rift that leads to the Hell of an altered version of Future Trunks' timeline.
    • In the Hell of Age 780 of Future Trunks' timeline, Fu summons Future Janemba from an alternate future timeline to one where he never existed historically. This leads to Future Pikkon confronting on Future Janemba and Fu. Future Trunks and the Conton City Hero soon arrive to aid him, though mistake him for Pikkon of the Fusion Reborn main timeline and Future Janemba as Janemba of the Fusion Reborn main timeline. Fu uses his remaining Demon Realm Crystal to grant Supervillainization to Future Janemba which augments Future Janemba's Mystic Copy ability allowing Future Janemba•Supervillain to produce a seemingly endless army of mystic copies of himself utilizing the Supervillain empowerment. Fortunately, Future Gohan ends up being revived on Earth, due to Future Janemba's reality alterations effecting the Check-In Station. After making his way back to the Other World and he travels to the source of the problem in Hell and ends up arriving just in time to come to the aid of Time Patrol Trunks, the Conton City Hero, and Future Pikkon. They work together to defeat several of the Janembas, but eventually Future Janemba•Supervillain defeats both Time Patrol Trunks and Future Pikkon with a single Dimension Ray. Fortunately, Goku from the Tournament of Power shows up to payback the Time Patrol for their aiding Team Universe 7 win the Tournament of Power. Future Gohan is surprised to see his father and wonders about his Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan form, though Goku suggests he ask about it later. SSGSS Goku and Super Saiyan Future Gohan team up to take down a majority of the clones with coordinated teamwork and an improvised Father-Son Kamehameha after they help the Conton City Hero defeat Future Janemba, assuming it will fix the timeline. However Fu reveals that since Future Janemba never existed in the timeline to begin with, they haven't really fixed anything and takes the opportunity to absorb the energy of the history changes for the current Time Rift causing Hell to slowly dissolve as Time Patrol Trunks and the Conton City Hero chase after him through a Wormhole which leads Time Patrol Trunks to the Crack of Time where Fu records a video of himself showing Time Patrol Trunks a vision of the next part of history he plans to alter, before Time Patrol Trunks and the Conton City Hero are abruptly returned to the Time Vault in Age 852 with some slight memory loss of what happened after the left Hell.

Alternate Timeline (Unknown History)[]

  • In the Unknown History Saga of Xenoverse 2, due to natural time distortion caused by Towa's Distorted Time Eggs and Time Patrol Trunks' desire to save Gohan, a split in the timeline is created that causes him to decide to follow through with his desire and go against Chronoa's orders, assisting Future Gohan in fighting Future 17 and 18. When the emotional Time Patrol Trunks is almost killed by Future 17, this cause Gohan's power to increase from his desire to protect Trunks giving him enough power to destroy Future 17 and 18. This creates an altered future timeline where Future Gohan destroyed Future 17 and 18 in Age 780 and where former Time Patrol Trunks decides to stay and help Future Gohan protect the future world from threats such as Future Cell and Future Majin Buu. Chronoa and Elder Kai show this history change to the Future Warrior in order to get their opinion on how to handle the situation. Regardless of the Future Warrior's choice, Chronoa reveals she has final say on the matter but will take their feelings into consideration. As Chronoa's decision is left unclear it is unknown if this timeline was corrected, erased, or allowed to remain as an alternate future timeline as it is implied that the version of Time Patrol Trunks who chose not to defy Chronoa exists in Age 852 as Chronoa mentions sending him on another mission. Additionally, it should be noted that Chronoa herself was partially at fault as she allowed the alterations remain which resulted in the time distortion as it would have not likely occurred had the events been restored to the original unaltered timeline. However it is implied in the Masters Pack DLC, that Chronoa allowed this timeline to remain separate from the original Semi-Corrected future timeline as Future Gohan appears as an Instructor in Conton City presumably having left Ex-Time Patroller Trunks in his timeline in order protect the future world Future Trunks had defied Chronoa to create (Android 18 herself surmises that he does not come from the original future timeline were her counterpart killed him alongside her brother, given that he is still alive) while assisting the Time Patrol Trunks that had not chosen to save Gohan (as it is implied that the all the Distorted Time Eggs together have enough power to create a natural time distortion capable of actually splitting the timeline much like Future Trunks' time machine, given they can create stable time rift anomalies separated from the official history).

Trivia[]

  • There is a discrepancy between the appearances of Future Trunks and his present counterpart in this year. Future Trunks is noticeably taller, and he looks older than his present timeline Trunks.
  • The above is also true for other characters. Chi-Chi and Bulma noticeably have wrinkles in Future Trunks' timeline, while their present forms remain youthful. Also, Future Ox-King has gray hair, while present Ox-King retains his natural hair color, despite now being a great-grandfather. Lastly, Bulma's parents have appeared to have passed of unknown causes that aren't directly stated like the other Z-Fighters to be by the Androids, while they are alive, well, and still "ageless" in the present timeline.
    • However its likely signs of aging of Future Bulma, Future Chi-Chi, and Future Ox-King are the result of the stressful timeline they live in, as their main timeline counterparts live in a far less stressful and relatively peaceful timeline, due to the Z Fighters being able to persevere the peace thanks to Future Trunks' warning about the threat of the Androids and Goku Black, preventing the many of the tragedies that befell the future timeline.
  • In The History of Trunks, Future Trunks has trouble achieving the Super Saiyan form despite living in a rather hellish timeline where there is plenty of reasons for him to feel anger. However, it is only after Future Gohan's death does Future Trunks' anger allow him to achieve the transformation. In contrast, Trunks achieves the form relatively early in his life with relatively easy despite growing up in a far more peaceful timeline due in part to his future counterpart's actions.
    • However, this only applies to the TV Special and some video games like the Xenoverse series and Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, as in the original manga, Future Trunks achieves the form while Future Gohan is still alive.
      • There are several possible explanations for why Future Trunks has trouble attaining it in certain media, as first his mother forbids him from training much like Future Chi-Chi had with his mentor. In contrast Trunks, however lived with his Saiyan father Vegeta being alive, along with Bulma being aware of how strong hybrid Saiyans like her son can become due to his counterpart, as well as Gohan's defeat of Cell, and Trunks often sparred/completed with his best friend/rival Goten (who never existed in Future Trunks' timeline due to Future Goku's death by Heart Virus) who also achieved the Super Saiyan form earlier than his brother which may have been due to Goten having been conceived during the time Goku had achieved Super Saiyan Full Power as his conception seemingly occurred during the wait for the Cell Games, thus making Goten (who was trained by his mother Chi-Chi who had mellowed out due to Gohan's victory over Cell and Goku's death during the Cell Games) a potentially strong rival for the young Trunks as it is implied that they first achieved their Super Saiyan forms off screen which occured so long ago they couldn't even remember exactly (as the scene of Goten transforming in front of Chi-Chi was in reference to why he didn't tell Gohan about it due to Chi-Chi's negative reaction, and during Trunks' first on screen transformation he is quick to point out he had achieved the transformation previously and informed his father that Goten could transform as well). Additionally, Goten and Trunks are far more competitive due to their friendly rivalry, than Future Gohan and Future Trunks who aren't due to Future Trunks looking up to Gohan as a role model, mentor/brother (and even father-like figure due to the deceased Future Vegeta's absence) figure.
